I’ve been waiting for this all year. It drops on Christmas Day. Apparently the second series has already been commissioned, so it must be pretty good.

Just got to the last episode. Did Marina marry Phillip after all? And what happened to the Featheringtons? Who inherited their country estate?

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 30/12/2020 21:24

I think who the Featherington heir will be is a cliffhanger

I understood that Marina married Philip because Featherington's death meant that or go home.

hilbil21 · 30/12/2020 21:41

Loved it and have never seen Harlots so after reading this thread I'm going to give it a go Grin

queenofarles · 30/12/2020 21:54

I have read two of Julia Quinn’s books, but I can’t remember who the heir is Hmm.
The books have no plot either, so I wouldn’t bother reading them.
Galeen foley books are much better written. The historical facts mentioned and her knowledge about the period is very impressive.

Whydidimarryhim · 31/12/2020 19:22

Bloody loved it - got me through Xmas day and tv was shite!!!
Got my hormones racing toooooo. 😀

Misbeehived · 01/01/2021 00:45

Love ❤️ So much fun.

TodgerStrunk · 01/01/2021 11:59

So - when Mrs Colson said something about introducing fresh seed instead of barren seed to Daphne, in regard to the Duke's own conception - did she mean the Duke's father wasn't actually his biological father?

Directionerforever · 01/01/2021 12:16

That’s what I took it to mean.

TodgerStrunk · 01/01/2021 13:13

@Directionerforever

That’s what I took it to mean.
But why did Daphne not, at any point, say "hang on a minute, you are keeping a vow to a man that's not even your father" rather than flounce around in despair?
HmmSureJan · 01/01/2021 14:44

Expected I'd be switching off after about ten minutes but I LOVE it. So good. Lady Danbury and The Queen the best and don't even get me started on the DOH 😍

Confusedandshaken · 01/01/2021 18:54

I loved it. Every silly, implausible moment was sheer joy.

DrDavidBanner · 01/01/2021 19:13

I watched the first one by myself this morning in peace which was a great hangover cure Grin

I'm reading a lot at the moment so I'm going to have to hunt out the books and Georgette Heyer apparently, never ready this kind of genre before, but it seems a lot of escapist fun.

BeverlyCleary · 02/01/2021 06:28

I've finished watching Bridgerton and loved it - perfect easy watching. Thanks also for the recommendations to watch the fabulous Harlots. It reminds me of The Wire in the focus on the economic side of the business. It's a shame that Hulu has dropped it. Hopefully another company will pick it up. So many great roles for women.

CrotchBurn · 02/01/2021 06:44

Did not find the Duke hot AT ALL. Its Anthony for me. Found daphne and the Duke getting it on very boring by the final episode

Ulysses · 02/01/2021 06:47

Harlots was brilliant, fun and frothy. It was beautifully filmed as well and the costumes were just as vibrant as they are in Bridgerton.

This is a light weight version but immensely enjoyable all the same. I found Daphne and the Duke, handsome and rakish though he was, really bland and thinly sketched, the other characters are much more interesting.

I'm tempted to read the novels for a bit of frippery. I imagine that there will be many more series to come on Netflix.

igotosleep · 02/01/2021 20:35

I loved it, major crush on the Duke. Can’t wait for the next season!

Groovee · 02/01/2021 21:12

I loved it. It was exactly what I needed. However my Dd who is 20 had told everyone that I am watching porn. Quite fancy the books now. I loved Eloise.

Rafflesway · 03/01/2021 15:06

Loved this!

Right up my street!

BasiliskStare · 03/01/2021 21:23

I like it in the same way I like Casanova with David Tennant - not pretending to be accurate but the colours are lovely and it's something of a laugh. I do think the Casanova with David Tenant though , was better

queenofarles · 04/01/2021 13:26

Casanova with David tenant? Why wasn’t I aware of this up till now!

endofthelinefinally · 04/01/2021 17:39

@queenofarles

Casanova with David tenant? Why wasn’t I aware of this up till now!
Is it still on netflix?
EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 04/01/2021 18:15

Casanova might be on Britbox.

It's old now. FIFTEEN. YEARS. Shock

GhostPepperTears · 04/01/2021 19:18

I have just finished the series. I watched the first episode and almost didn't continue but, what do you know - I found that the more the Duke was in it, the better the plot became! Grin

(By the end I was even enjoying the non-Duke bits very much)

BasiliskStare · 05/01/2021 13:53

@queenofarles - do keep up at the back there Grin Excellent work @EineReiseDurchDieZeit - gold star

Yes it's old , but I think it stands the test of time well & similar in that bright colours - doesn't pretend to be accurate - but funny & joyful.

Misbeehived · 05/01/2021 14:44

I’ve just finished.

We’re watching the Serpent in the dvd in the evening which is really unsettling. This enjoyable nonsense and the beautiful duke are just the anecdote. I hope there’s a second series!
