It would have to have been Mary or Mark who set fire to the car. Everyone else was on the beach. Mark could have done it for the insurance but we already know Mary is deranged.

It could also have been the adult children’s partners, their own children, the cheating one’s wife or the aggrieved ex-employee, or even the woman who is paying the son for sex

You can’t fake being on the GMC register though, it’s accessible to anyone with online access.

Can somebody remind me, please? Mary gave the children a couple of points to think about in relation to Mark. One was whether he had actually bought the car, or was it on credit? That gave the son something to think about. What was the point she raised before that, earlier on in the episode?

Maybe mark has a twin brother who is a doctor and has the same dodgy hair dye as the imposter!
I still think he knows Mary from a past life as well. No idea what's going on really : they are all dodgy apart from the mum. Even marks estranged wife may have something to do with it? Or been injured. Or the stalker woman has gone too far and daughter flipped out?

@flowerflies She asked one what his first wife died of and I think she asked the other if he was really a doctor.

Mark is a widower. They need to find out how his late wife died.

OT but I'm currently watching What Remains on BBC iPlayer. Claudia Blakely, Russell Tovey and the actor who plays the detective are appear in it.

That would be a fun twist . Maybe Mary and the mum are lovers, they bumped off the first husband and hatched a plot to entice a rich man for his money but now Mary's gone mad with jealousy over the marriage.

Is Mark rich though? He could be as he was a surgeon etc. Would be fun if mum and Mary were in it together: how did she meet this mark?
Mary knows he wouldn't go for her as she is older and not as glamorous but she knows he'd go for the mum. They are really lovers and have been for years ; pretend not to be that close in front of the kids or even get on as they know they wouldn't approve. They need money so rope in this mark : kill him off , sell the house and carry on with mum buying a newer place but not too far away!
As a widow she'll get the dosh.
It falls down a bit as she could have just sold up and got the money that way!..

One daughter said Mary had a baby that died : maybe he was the doctor that was around when baby died and she has a grudge against him?

I'm enjoying it. Well done ITV. I wish more drama's were commissioned that focus on "ordinary" family and social dynamics across the generations rather than reboots of classics from many decades ago of which there are many previous watchable versions.
