OMG just flicking thru TV guide..... Monday night!!

Watched the first 2 episodes of Series 1 last night. 24 years ago I was reading law at university - and I blame Anna for my subsequent decision to aim for the Bar. As well as the confidence, the natural talent, the luck of being offered a squat in Chambers (really not that easy to come by) and the witty come-backs, I think I thought I’d have a Clerk just like Joe 🤣

As it turned out, I was rather less like Anna and a bit more like Egg....

I’ve emailed the BBC asking them to put on series 2. I mean they can’t just show series 1 in isolation - that’s just cruel!
Everyone else contact them too!

I’ve literally just finished series 1. Binged 4 episodes this afternoon. We defo need BBC4 to show series 2 now!

I think Egg's dad is realistic as he's just had a massive shock because his wife of 25+(?) years has been cheating on him. He's also been urged by the wonderful and fearless Anna to Seize the Day and put some effort into getting his book published. She's reminded him what it's like to be young and hopeful and she likes him because he listens to her. Yeah, it won't last but I do see it as realistic. She was mean to him at the party, though!

Her and egg have been together an age. The sparks gone, they are comfortable together (him using the loo whilst she’s doing her makeup). He’s feeling shit, depressed and lost.
Meanwhile o’donnell Comes along as a ‘man’, protects her, is confident assured and flatters her work ego. He gives her everything egg is not.

Oh yeah,I totally get it. She always acted like Egg's mum anyway so much better suited to O'Donnell.

Yeah if he'd been an Anthony Head type older man I'd have understood the attraction. But maybe that was the point!

Dh and I still refer to Paul Copley as "Egg's Dad" in whatever other part he's in. (And call Gary Lewis "Billy Elliot's Dad" whatever else he's in, too!)
