MargotsBumpyNight · 03/02/2020 18:18

Oh one of my all time favourites! Hey, shaky cameras!

ChangedMyNameYetAgain · 03/02/2020 18:24

Oh my! Was it really that long ago? I was hooked.

CoffeeCoinneseur · 03/02/2020 18:27

Shit yeah - 24 years not 16!!Grin

Well I'm definitely going to be shouting "cocklodger", "gaslighter" and LTB at the TV.

topcat2014 · 03/02/2020 21:21

Not long now!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 03/02/2020 21:25

Triple episode!!!

Seetheprettysnowdrops · 03/02/2020 23:50

Loving it

theflushedzebra · 04/02/2020 00:01

Oh my god, just saw on twitter that this was on again - rushed over to see if there was a thread!

This life was my "time" - not a lawyer, but a young professional at that time...

Bloody loved Anna - would have loved to have been as No Fucks Given as her.

Miles - bloody lovely boyish public school looks, and an utter bastard. Totally fancied him, for my sins. Apparently lovely irl, and married t the fab Michelle Gomez.

Egg - twat was my humble opinion back in the 90s. Went through a worse stage when he was in Love Actually. Awful. Bloody fantastic in the Walking Dead. Some men age really well.

Milly - wet and a goody goody.

I'm probably more like Millie irl tbh much as it pains me- although I'd never have shagged my boss esp one like that.

theflushedzebra · 04/02/2020 00:09

Anna was far too good fo Miles too.

Moomin8 · 04/02/2020 00:10

Oh yay

Seetheprettysnowdrops · 04/02/2020 00:20

How awful was Delilah. I remember thinking the same back then

Anna was great.

elp30 · 04/02/2020 00:33

Lucky everyone in the UK! I love This Life!

I had just moved to England and was a newlywed to my lovely Englishman when it first came out. I remember thinking that a program about newly qualified solicitors was totally boring but I watched it anyways and loved it!

It's probably a total product of it's time but I have such affection for it. I loved the music, the fact that the characters were not that much older than me and let's face it, Miles, Ferdi, Egg and Warren were very easy on the eyes and Anna was so great! I'll never forgive Millie. Lol

We will be married 24 years this month and we are now in the USA. I would have loved to have had the chance of a bit of nostalgia and a walk through memory lane. Enjoy the series everyone!

Graphista · 04/02/2020 00:34

I actually missed it first time round and saw in it as a repeat a few years later.

Millie was a shit for cheating on egg but I can understand her frustrations with eggs “existential crisis” really he just freaked at the thought of having to “adult”

AgeLikeWine · 04/02/2020 00:39

I just watched the first episode and I will record the rest.

1996 was a bloody long time ago. Where on earth did all those years go? Payphones instead of smartphones, smoking in bars, computer monitors the size of packing crates. It was a different world.

I agree with others about Nardini. Her charisma completely dominates the screen in every scene. How on earth did she not go on to become a major star??

Chienloup · 04/02/2020 00:39

Still glorious.

Bluerussian · 04/02/2020 00:39

Oh Shit! I wish I'd known.

It's on iplayer!

theflushedzebra · 04/02/2020 00:40

Totally a product of it's time elp30 ! I'm wondering if it'll be lambasted by the 'next generation in the same way Friends was.

You remind me, I've been with DH an astonishing 23 years now (and it doesn't feel it!) I still feel I should be young! and I've known him for 27 years (met at uni). Time flies...

drigon · 04/02/2020 00:43

Loved this and I find it hasn't dated that much. Dialogue and characters are so well-written and funny. My favourite was always Anna and love the love/hate dynamic with Miles.

HeronLanyon · 04/02/2020 00:54

Hated it at the time as I was youngish at the Bar at the time - it was true to life - think I found it depressing to
See in the mirror !!

mynameiswah · 04/02/2020 01:26

Loved it, though it seems a lot slower than before, I sort of remember it being more fast paced. I loved Warren best then, and I do again! So wise and heartbreakingly naive at the same time. Can't stand Milly. I've known too many boring people like her in my life, yuk. Wish I was like Anna!

Bluerussian · 04/02/2020 05:26

They were a great combination, Jack Davenport and Daniella Nardini were superb - as were they all, really. I shall enjoy watching it again.

MikeUniformMike · 04/02/2020 12:47

Nigel, Jack's father was dishy and his mother stunning.

eurochick · 04/02/2020 13:23

I've just watched the first episode. I bloody loved this back in the 90s. I was an aspiring barrister and was definitely an Anna - too many glasses of cheap white wine and poor taste in men. The chambers decor is spot on and the Essex boy clerk who earns more than the barristers was very common back then.

QueenOfTheAndals · 04/02/2020 13:25

Didn't Anna shag Miles' dad at one point?

Chienloup · 04/02/2020 13:51

Anna shagged Egg's dad. And then left him looking for her a party whilst she went and shagged Miles.

Seetheprettysnowdrops · 04/02/2020 14:09

God, yeah. Had forgotten about Egg's Dad

I'm not sure what Egg and Millie ever saw in each other. She's so dull

I recorded all three last night. I hope the rest are on soon
