Alright racers!

Who's seen the new trailer and eagerly anticipating the launch? Any early favourites?

I've heard rumours it's going to be stupidly good, up there with s5/6 of the original version.

I warmed to The Vivienne a bit this week when she showed some of her vulnerability. Then they showed the trailer for next week and I went off her again!

iklboo · 01/11/2019 22:32

I KNOW I'm being thick but what was The Frock Destroyers a pun on?

Idontknowhowtohelpher · 01/11/2019 22:39

I googled and found this - According to Know Your Meme, it dates back to a quote from a viral video courtesy of an adult film star named Rebecca More.
The footage shows her with another adult film actress - Sophie Anderson - as they call themselves, well... C*ck Destroyers. Suddenly, the video embraced new life as a meme, used in reaction videos and beyond.

iklboo · 01/11/2019 22:42

Ahhhh. Thank you @Idontknowhowtohelpher

Idontknowhowtohelpher · 01/11/2019 23:16

That's okay. There is lots I don't understand on the US show but I thought I'd do better with the UK version. No. Still googling.
Am enjoying it though - I think this was the best episode so far!

ElspethFlashman · 01/11/2019 23:41

Glad to see I wasn't the only one who didn't get Frock Destroyers! Grin

Happy for Cheryl who was living her best life and doing what she was best at. Her runway dress looked like she bought it off the Littlewoods catalogue though.

I appreciated Bagga's big comedy floral 1970s Carry On Racing outfit as it was very camp, but by God if she was any more matronly she'd be the Queen Mum. And she needs to burn that hideous yellow lipstick.

The best thing I could say about Viv this week is that her makeup was superb as always. And she can certainly sing. That's it. I was fairly unmoved by her tears as it just showed her fragile ego, which will no doubt be roaring back to full arrogance next week.

I was very glad Blu did so well. She's so confident. Am also very glad that whilst Davina was over there sobbing happy tears about how much better things are for gay kids today, Blu was an example of NO THEY'RE FUCKING NOT IN N. I. ACTUALLY DAVINA.

Haworthia · 03/11/2019 00:37

Loved Cheryl this week. I actually thought her runway was bang on for the brief - I’ve seen girls dressed like that on Essex train platforms heading to Ascot Grin

DinaCaliente · 06/11/2019 11:18

Cheryl reminds me so much of Austin Powers with her expressions and the way she talks (could just see her saying "do I make you horny baby?"!) but I have a real soft spot for her.

I think she'll go this week as she also reminds me of Alyssa Edwards and Alyssa is always 5th alternate in Drag Race. I'd love to see her in the final though.

ItIsWhatItIsInnit · 06/11/2019 14:17

OMG, I knew she reminded me of someone! It's the face and mannerisms, you are so right

Haworthia · 06/11/2019 16:54

That’s so funny Dina. I never would have made the connection but you’re right!

I also think Cheryl is the most likely candidate to go tomorrow, which makes me sad. But you never know, there might be a big shock exit. It’s getting to the stage where one fuck up is enough to land someone in the bottom.

covetingthepreciousthings · 07/11/2019 08:26

Yes! Totally see the Austin Powers thing too!

Just saw that it's already been commissioned for a series 2! I'm pleased, I'm enjoying this series. We haven't watched the most recent US ones, but loved the old ones with Sharon Needles, Alaska etc. I quite like that the U.K. version isn't as polished, and that there isn't all the product placement.

covetingthepreciousthings · 07/11/2019 20:30

What just happened?! That was a bit bizarre. I think Divina was a bit OTT then & took it a bit personally.

aristocat · 07/11/2019 21:19

Only 4 left now Sad
I can definitely see Davina wearing the winner's crown.

aristocat · 07/11/2019 21:21

Divina not Davina

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 08/11/2019 00:05

I think the right one left tonight.
Suspect Cheryl will be out next week.
Agree with the top 3 although not impressed if any don't learn the lip sync lyrics.
Don't have a favourite since Sum Ting left so any of the 3 remaining would be worthy.

Idontknowhowtohelpher · 08/11/2019 10:17

I enjoyed watching Graham Norton's reactions to the adverts being filmed. And he seemed a bit more acerbic during the judging which I liked. I thought Cheryl added nothing as a judge.
I think Divina thought she had won after the excellent feedback she got for her ad but her runway wasn't fantastic - and The Vivienne's was.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 08/11/2019 10:38

For me Bagga is really annoying. All the gurning is too much, but she is growing on me.

My favourite is Cheryl. Although Davina is fabulous.

covetingthepreciousthings · 08/11/2019 10:47

. I thought Cheryl added nothing as a judge.

I might be reading way too much into this.. but I was surprised Cheryl Hole didn't post a photo with THE Cheryl with a gushing caption on her Instagram (it may still happen), but wondered if Cheryl perhaps didn't want a picture with her.

JorisBonson · 08/11/2019 10:59

Really thought Baga should have been lip syncing instead of Blu. Her attitude stank too.

Bit sad to see Blu go as I really enjoyed watching her grow and enjoy being with other, more experienced queens.

Divina is my firm favourite I think. Her chat with Katya was brilliant.

IDontDrinkTea · 08/11/2019 11:38

Did anyone else think there was a bit of tension between michelle and Cheryl when they were judging?!

Stellaris22 · 08/11/2019 11:54

I got the feeling that Michelle and Cheryl didn't like each other. Michelle is witty and great whereas Cheryl added nothing to the show and her judging was pointless.

aristocat · 08/11/2019 14:07

Yes. The tension was there between Michelle & Cheryl Grin on the show but they seemed to get on well in the podcast.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 08/11/2019 14:19

I thought Cheryl was only there because of Cheryl.

She did seem lost and out of her depth IMO.

2Rebecca · 12/11/2019 09:53

I dislike Michelle. She always seems to put down the other female judges and is nasty about it not funny. I liked Cheryl as a judge. I thought Bagga's advert was rubbish. Who would want to buy that water? Disliked the sexual objectification of the men in pants at the beginning. Loved Davina's rain outfit.

Stellaris22 · 12/11/2019 10:27

I find the objectification of men quite uncomfortable to watch as well and wish they wouldn't do it.
