Alright racers!

Who's seen the new trailer and eagerly anticipating the launch? Any early favourites?

I've heard rumours it's going to be stupidly good, up there with s5/6 of the original version.

Honestly, I didn’t think it was weird that Alan and Graham are a bit low key. I thought Alan was brilliant in ep1 - people went mad for his “estate agent” comment

They’re not the star of the show so I don’t expect them to be OTT and outrageous. I thought they had the tone just right.

I wasn't expecting outrageous, am just used to them both being more spontaneously witty. Given that some of this is scripted and that they usually have an 'on' persona when doing their chat shows, I was surprised that they did not have many laugh out loud lines. They were the part of the reboot I was looking forward to the most. But it has only been two episodes.

Anyone watching?

Also looking forward to Snatch Game! I'm guessing when Michelle is talking about the"best ever character" it has to be Bagga, maybe The Vivienne. Anyone who can beat Ben de la Creme's Maggie Smith must be bloody good in my book.
I am missing the slickness of the US queens, British drag is so very different and this series is reminding me of Sundays at the RVT in my youth, which isn't what I love about Drag Race, but is making me nostalgic!

There is something about Sum Ting which I really love, but I don't think she's a winner unfortunately. At the moment I would put money on The Vivienne.

Is it me or does anyone else find the lip syncs very underwhelming? Dont get me wrong I'm over seeing them jump into the splits and doing the death drop but come on ladies put your backs into it. If you want people to come and see your shows after drag race has finished you better give people something to see.

Does anyone else think that Bagga should have been in the bottom 3 rather than Cheryl? That outfit was hideous!

Totally agree that Baga’s outfit was horrific and she deserved bottom three more than Cheryl.

Viv’s make up is gorgeous and she’s definitely a front runner. Is she really only 26 though? She has so much filler in her face

Exactly! When a face looks excessively “done” like that, it’s almost impossible to pinpoint a person’s age. If she is 26, I just don’t know why anyone would have such extensive work at such a young age. Maybe it was to look more authentically Cher?

Okay, series is growing on me - I liked this week's episode a lot. Love Davina but Crystal was robbed, her look was amazing (but I am not a fashionista).
The right person went again I think.
I know it has to translate for the Americans too and it's a pun on snatch and Match Game but it's the UK version dammit...we should be doing Wankety Blank or Blinkety Blank or some such

But I am probably firing blanks with that idea and the American audience would want to shoot me...

And I know Snatch Game is an institution and that Blankety Blanks was the Ozzie format of the same show across the pond but it was Blankety Blank here and they could even have had Paul O'Grady as a special guest (they hosted it as Lily Savage).

The Uk queens aren't a patch on the polished US queens. It's almost 'carry on drag race' but still has its own charm

Vivienne is a superb make up artist though. And really gets drag I think. Its not just about putting on a frock from the high street (Vinegar) and its not just about costume (Blu). There is a taste level there with her definitely.

Vivienne to win, for me.

Bagga has wierd looks. Its all a bit matronly. And I'm not as sold on the whole comedy queen thing. It's just gurning at the moment. Maybe snatch game will blow me away.

Right person left - that was just not up to standard. Sum Ting is lovely but was lucky. Both lip syncs were crap. I suspect STW just stayed in cos they constructed their jacket better.

Was anyone else surprised that some couldn't sew at all? I do think it would be something you'd try learn in the run up to applying.

How old is Bagga?

I really like Sum Ting, but not sure she'll make it much further.

I think you’re forgetting how busted a lot of the American queens have been (I mean, Dida Ritz made top four!).

But also... British and American drag traditions are different. I don’t think the UK has much of a pageant culture, which emphasises glamour and polish above all else. UK drag queens are primarily entertainers.

I agree that Blu is very costumey. And that’s fine, but don’t call it fashion. She was really pissed off to be safe and thought it was a really high concept look. But those colours... it’s costumey.

Baga's outfit was AWFUL I can't believe they didn't read her for that.
Im also disappointed they only started off with 10 queens rather than 14 like usual. Means that once they've cut loose the 'dead weight', as The Vivienne put it, they're only left with 7 or 8 queens.
I'm looking forward to next week though. The Vivienne did a stellar Kim Woodburn impression in episode 1..

I wish channel 4 had this. I think they would have had more fun with it. I miss the prizes for the queen's too, lots of lovely make-up, wigs and holidays in the US version. UK queen's get a badge

God yes, a Ru Peter badge is just lame.

I liked Baga's dress, I love copper gold I have no taste obviously
