Alright racers!

Who's seen the new trailer and eagerly anticipating the launch? Any early favourites?

I've heard rumours it's going to be stupidly good, up there with s5/6 of the original version.

I really enjoyed it! It took a while for me to get used to the fact it was not American though 😂

It seems a bit budget compared to the US version but I laughed a lot.

Sum Tin Wong was robbed! I felt she was far better than the Vivienne. But the right person definitely went home - she just lacked confidence or any stage presence whatsoever.

Have to say after being very non plussed about Scardey Cat I now love her Grin

Gah! Couldn't find a steam anywhere last night! If anyone has one please link for us poor unfortunates!

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 04/10/2019 12:21

I would watch it quick if I were you @ElspethFlashman

ElspethFlashman · 04/10/2019 13:58

Thank you!

inkysplatter · 05/10/2019 12:03

Well that was amazing. So happy with all of that. Except I would have chosen a different winner but not unhappy with their choices.

Baga being a Brexity Tory does spoil things somewhat, but politics does tend to ruin everything doesn't it so will try and ignore it for once.

Elspeth can you use a VPN to access iPlayer?

ElspethFlashman · 05/10/2019 13:53

The YT link didn't work but I found a dodgy streaming link which was suprisingly good quality, lol.

When the bull ring came out and then was followed by Harland and Wollff I thought I was going to die laughing. I kept quoting bits to DH this morning and laughing all over again.

iklboo · 05/10/2019 13:58

Really enjoyed it. I think Scaredy Cat is definitely in touch with his feminine side. Loved Sum Ting Wong. Gothy Ken Doll was very out of his depth.

juicyjuicymangoes · 05/10/2019 14:01

I also really enjoyed it. Wasn't expecting to at all but it was very watchable

Haworthia · 05/10/2019 14:38

I get a Grayson Perry vibe from Scaredy. I.e. not gay, knows nothing of drag, doesn’t perform and just likes dressing like a little girl. I find it a bit skeevy and fetishistic. The adult nappy cemented it for me 🤢

Happy to be proved wrong but that’s my first impression.

ElspethFlashman · 05/10/2019 14:58

Oh I don't understand Scaredy Cat at all. I don't really get what the deal is there.

And I've never heard the phrase "bio-queen" before and couldn't help wondering what the older ladies thought of that whole area. They were exceptionally polite to him though.

But I guess we keep being told that drag is for everyone, right?

I'm just glad it's not an endless line of pageant Queens. They bore me senseless tbh.

Haworthia · 05/10/2019 15:55

Oh, there’s always big arguments within the community that drag needs to be more inclusive of women, transwomen, straight men, etc.

I tend to think... can’t gay men just have one thing?

SlimGin · 06/10/2019 00:36

Checking in and finally watched the first episode. Agree with comments about scaredy cat... baby queen was creepy and I generally dislike Kawaii style and the faux-innocence act. However I did think his mini challenge was quite funny.

Love Baga Chips, Cheryl Hole, Davina de Campo, Sun Ting Wong.

Davina's posted a before the act apology on Instagram, so I'm wondering if something happens at some point that makes him come across badly.

zinrepus · 08/10/2019 14:37

There usually are costuming challenges...hopefully they come up soon, always a nice way to thin out the crowd early on...

Daysofpearlyspencer · 08/10/2019 23:16

Men wearing nappies is a sexual fetish, surprised it is considered drag and a bit creepy to be included

Idontknowhowtohelpher · 11/10/2019 19:28

Good second episode - again I think the right person left. I really like Davina, she looked stunning on the runway - a real contrast to the acting challenge!

ElspethFlashman · 12/10/2019 08:52

Yes, I wasn't too impressed with the one who left this week. They got the theme wrong and I'm glad Graham mentioned the makeup which was dire.

I find I'm not half as impressed with Bagga as everyone else though. I like her personally, but find her only OK performance wise.

My fave is Vivienne. Lots of range there and good makeup skills.

JorisBonson · 12/10/2019 08:53

I absolutely howled at this week's episode. I didn't think I'd prefer the UK version so much.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 12/10/2019 09:45

I still don't prefer the UK version but this week's episode was better than the opening one, RuPaul only said 'ello me guvnors! once for a start Wink I am in the minority of those who have never seen Downton so would have missed any references there but I liked the Bond girl runway. Monkseal was right in saying Bagga uses drunk a lot though, what with drunk Amy then drunk Liza.
Anyway, the right person went and you could tell the other one did have performing experience.
Graham Norton seemed as subdued as Alan Carr did last week. I am not sure what is going on there at all. They both seem to have butched up to how they usually are on screen, as if there's a quantity theory of campness. Much preferred Andrew Garfield to eyebrow lass yesterday, is she GOT, she really liked the Amelia Earhart look, didn't she?

JorisBonson · 12/10/2019 09:47

I really wasn't keen on Baga last week but she literally had me in stitches this episode. I really like Blu as well, I can see her really growing and learning from the older queens.

bananabunch119 · 12/10/2019 10:16

I love Baga! Also The Vivienne and Vinegar, I seem to prefer the older panto style queens, don't think mama Ru gets Baga at all! Glad the two have been eliminated are gone.

iklboo · 12/10/2019 10:25

Is it me or does Sum Ting Wong look like Roisin Conaghty?

Tbh Graham isn't really that camp IRL, he is much more low key than he is when presenting. He spends a lot of time in Ireland and whenever he's interviewed there in "relaxed mode" he comes across as very laid back. So it was a Graham I recognised but maybe if you had only seen his chatshow persona you'd be suprised.

Tbh I don't really need another Ross Matthews type where every remark has to be outrageous, I like a double entendre as much as anyone but a little of that goes a long way.

aristocat · 12/10/2019 21:27

I'm watching it too. We love Baga, Vivienne & Davina.

Totally agree this second episode was better than the first, myself and DD need our Drag Race fix Smile

aristocat · 12/10/2019 21:28

What's the Tee podcast is really good. Every Wednesday.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 12/10/2019 21:49

I only know Chatshow and Eurovision Graham El so was expecting him, and Alan for that matter, to be a lot more double-entendry! I was expecting Eurovision Graham I suppose as it is kind of a presenting job and I thought he'd be more enthused. Love him anyway, saw him do stand-up years back and am half way through the lifes and loves of a he-devil. I just thought him and Alan would be more into it having read their promo interview in the Guardian the other day.
Rylan is on everything at the moment but I could see him being a funny juror.
