GoT is actually disgusting, isn't it?

In what way can it be described as 'entertainment'?

I seriously, don't understand why people happily sit down to watch the carnage, the immolation, the screaming children.

What is wrong with people?

SaskiaRembrandt · 17/05/2019 21:13

It's definitely not suitable for a 13 year old.

BertrandRussell · 17/05/2019 21:16

I didn’t expect my ban to be such a big deal- I was only explaining why I watch the occasional episode! I didn’t stick rigidly to age categories for my children. Which I why I watch so I can explain my decision.

VampireSlayer19 · 17/05/2019 21:19

You didn’t explain the ban properly tho!

If to stop watching teenagers watch of course completely acceptable.

The fact you made out was because of content and was not allowed in your house, then turned out watched the books was the issue.

Even then when explained most understood anyway 🤷‍♀️

VampireSlayer19 · 17/05/2019 21:20

Read not watched Jesus my brain is on Friday mode 🙈

BertrandRussell · 17/05/2019 21:26

Apologies. I should have made myself clearer.

JQBased · 17/05/2019 21:28

Why vote for political parties that bomb foreign lands killing thousands? Why listen to music that is degenerate in lyrical content and imagery? Why wear clothes that a load of kids have probably made under duress and appalling conditions? Why purchase electronics put together in poorer countries in horrendous conditions? Why go on about a show that most take as fictional and would feel the same emotion watching it as you would do? We all pick and choose our crusades, but when we are stripped down and analysed we are being hypocrites in doing so. Perhaps we should just stick to of ignoring what we don't want to watch rather than lecturing others on what we feel that should watch, until we have rid ourselves from any hand in the misery and injustices of the world.

BertrandRussell · 17/05/2019 21:31

Blimey......

Icandothisallday · 17/05/2019 21:44

My daughter 15. She wouldn't be allowed to watch it.

I can imagine if she really wanted to she could at one of her friends. But no, not in my house.

VampireSlayer19 · 17/05/2019 21:57

I am actually watching episode 5 now the reality of war (forgetting the dragon) is all very real there are children who live with this fear of death everyday.

Should we censor that for the view that can change channels?

Icandothisallday · 17/05/2019 22:26

I am watching them all again. I think its must really. Especially this serism so much is happening.

I have found them better the second time. You can tie bits together.

Like when Dany, burned the city you could see the green of wild fire. Today I watched the one where Jamie told Briene about why he killed the mad king and he said the mad king had hidden wild fire all over the city. So I am assuming that's why there was wild fire when she burnt the city.

It really brought it full circle. Jamie, essentially a shit bag, save thousands/millions of people. But Dany completed her fathers plan. I think that added the sadness of it all. She planned on being so different.

CaptainBrickbeard · 17/05/2019 22:53

The OP has now started a baby names thread about Khaleesi. Very weird fixation!

Aberforthsgoat · 17/05/2019 22:57

Ha @captainblackbeard op seems to be more obsessed with game of thrones than most of the game of thrones fans on here..

DoctorDread · 17/05/2019 23:42

Yes I noticed that too black

RedDogsBeg · 18/05/2019 00:01

and the OP thinks people who watch GoT are awful, they should take a look in the mirror at themselves, their behaviour and attitude is hardly that of the paragon of virtue they claim to be.

SpeckofStardust · 18/05/2019 00:02

The OP has now started a baby names thread about Khaleesi. Very weird fixation!

Come on now, no she didn't... oh-kaay then, yes, yes she did. And she now wants both threads taken down because we’re the over-invested ones!

Full moon’s tomorrow, right?

Miljah · 18/05/2019 00:02

Settle, red
I am sorry that you feel so upset about what I wrote.

OP posts:
Miljah · 18/05/2019 00:09

And I'm actually impressed that you trawl MN to find me! I feel a bit honoured!

TBH, 750 replies in, I now recognise how important GoT is to you.

I still remain rather shocked that you're 'okay' with the gratuitous violence, especially that directed against women, because 'it drives the narrative'.

I still remain unconvinced that access to such material is absolutely fine for everyone ('cos I want to watch it'); and that it isn't in a lot of ways corrupting.

But 700+ people telling me I'm wrong must be respected, hey?

OP posts:
Icandothisallday · 18/05/2019 00:12

You may think that. But have nothing to back it up.

You are uncomfortable being in a society where lots of us watch this and things like it. Except you are seemingly comfortable living with a man who likes it.

You need to try Vikings next Wink

RedDogsBeg · 18/05/2019 00:19

No, I don't believe you do feel sorry, OP. Your motive for the baby name thread is a plain as a pike staff, I pity you that you are so desperate to feel morally superior and smug that you seek it by sneering at parents and the names they have chosen for their children.

Not upset in the slightest just critical of your behaviour and attitude.

DioneTheDiabolist · 18/05/2019 00:24

What way has it corrupted your DH OP?

Miljah · 18/05/2019 00:24

Ice but.... this about MNetters who are 100% invested in it, no? GoT?

People (like you) suggest other material that is similarly nasty to watch.

Why would you do that?

Scroll down and find that my DH can't explain why he watches it, either! (But misses so much, he goes 'Who's she? What's that significance?')......

Can't help you as I, sitting companionably alongside you (ipad, earbuds) just looked up to see a child being burnt alive.

OP posts:
Miljah · 18/05/2019 00:26

Red.

I'm genuinely sorry that I have upset you to this degree.

I can only assume either you, or someone close to you, has named a child Khaleesi

OP posts:
Miljah · 18/05/2019 00:29

Good night, and thank you.

OP posts:
Icandothisallday · 18/05/2019 00:32

I recommending stuff because as of lindsay they wont be any new ones.

You could sit with your dh while watching Vikings and then start similar threads. About that. Just trying to give you a future pipeline.

No one asked why your dh watches it. But you claim you dknr want to be around people who think GoT to be on TV and enjoy watching it......and yet live with a man who not only watches it, but cant even answer why he like its.

You nor worried about mixing with him. How has GoT changed his behaviour?

DioneTheDiabolist · 18/05/2019 00:34

I'm beginning to think the OP is jealous of GoT.Shock
