GoT is actually disgusting, isn't it?

In what way can it be described as 'entertainment'?

I seriously, don't understand why people happily sit down to watch the carnage, the immolation, the screaming children.

What is wrong with people?

Or Vikings.

NunoGoncalves · 17/05/2019 19:32

I haven't seen Rome, Vikings or Spartacus, but if you really don't like graphic violence, I would not recommend Game of Thrones.

Thallo · 17/05/2019 19:37

On the other hand if you do like graphic sex I'd recommend Versailles.

BertrandRussell · 17/05/2019 19:40

“So its banned in your house? You waited until the last series to ban it?”

No- it’s been banned all along. Hmm

Icandothisallday · 17/05/2019 19:47

Its banned in your house but you have watched one of each series?

BertrandRussell · 17/05/2019 19:55

Not banned for grownups!

Honestly- am I accidentally speaking Greek? Who bans television programmes for grown ups?? If my dp wanted to watch it I couldn’t/wouldn’t stop him.

VampireSlayer19 · 17/05/2019 20:04

Well I hope it would be banned more minors it’s rated 18! 😂

VampireSlayer19 · 17/05/2019 20:04

*for

Miljah · 17/05/2019 20:12

I'd like to respond, but I can't see through the froth! 😳😂

Am frankly amazed how deeply so many of you seem invested in what is, as you keep tellling us, fantasy.

DH can't tell me why he watches it. Like he doesn't discuss why he likes watching James May. Or Sumo.

Whereas I am much better educated, now, in knowing the nastiness of GoT drives the narrative. Which is apparently, fine, as an explanation.

Thallo I find explicit sex a bit dull to watch - it's one of those things you do, not watch, like cooking - but is the rest of Versailles any good? Amazon keeps suggesting I watch it but I'm undecided.

CaptainBrickbeard · 17/05/2019 20:19

Yes, of course that why you aren’t responding...

Icandothisallday · 17/05/2019 20:25

Not banned for grownups!

Who let's their kids watch it? I would imagine most people dont let kids watch it.

I dont get what you mean? Do you think it's real? Or is there a rule where people cant be invested and enjoy a programme if its fantasy genre?

SaskiaRembrandt · 17/05/2019 20:29

No, enjoying fictional programming is verboten! You will stop it immediately!

SaskiaRembrandt · 17/05/2019 20:30

OP, assuming you do watch television, what programmes do you enjoy?

CaptainBrickbeard · 17/05/2019 20:31

I’ve banned it for the five year old tbh and also am pretty flabbergasted to learn it isn’t a documentary after all! Gosh, do I feel foolish now...

SaskiaRembrandt · 17/05/2019 20:34

Oh CaptainBrickbeard you big silly - how on earth could Gendry have been rowing for all that time if it was real?

NunoGoncalves · 17/05/2019 20:36

I know lots of teenagers under 18 who watch it!

CaptainBrickbeard · 17/05/2019 20:38

Good point, Saskia Blush.

I have worked in a couple of big high schools over the past decade and found lots of kids watch The Walking Dead but far fewer are interested in GoT.

VampireSlayer19 · 17/05/2019 20:39

OP tbh your first thoughts are abit null and void now!

The discussion went in a sensible direction and debate, not just saying all that watch are depraved.

The sensible on both sides are very much live and let live just called out someone who was joshing abit when turned out read the books and didn’t want children watching, which tbh everyone watching or not watching pretty much agrees with!

derxa · 17/05/2019 20:59

I hope it disappears without a trace.

Thallo · 17/05/2019 21:02

Most unlikely I'd say.

BertrandRussell · 17/05/2019 21:03

“Who let's their kids watch it? I would imagine most people dont let kids watch it.”
Lots of teenagers watch it. I think my ds was about 13 when he first wanted to.

VampireSlayer19 · 17/05/2019 21:07

@BertrandRussell not letting a 13 year old watch it is perfectly acceptable it’s not for kids.

Those that choose to is their choice but I would agree on that it’s not suitable for that age

VampireSlayer19 · 17/05/2019 21:09

Harry Potter was all about a crazed adult trying to kill a child tho ... just saying!

derxa · 17/05/2019 21:11

George RR Martin looks like a cliche to me.
