Starts Tues 5th.

Looks like it’s set in the 1990s this time.

And she was awfully eager to go back and get him when they left him behind with the gypsies no travellers no gypsies - is - fine - actually. Michelle and Orla ... not so much.

MadameAnchou · 05/04/2019 18:55

Lovely moment when he told her, 'It's not a creep convention and it's not important', and the look on her face when she came downstairs in her Easter frock! Pure class!

MadameAnchou · 05/04/2019 18:58

Mae was hilarious! And Michelle, 'Typical man from Donegal, always moaning!'

Mrsjayy · 05/04/2019 20:48

Michelle is so funny how many times can she say ride an episodeGrin

Lovewineandchocs · 05/04/2019 21:19

I think Erin and James too. One idea was for James to join a band and become cool and Michelle and the girls would be forced to suck up to him Grin I guess that could lead to Erin getting jealous of all the female attention and admitting she likes James. Or maybe James gets the chance to go back to his old life in England and Erin doesn’t want him to go. That prom scene was definite Ross/Rachel material.

Shmoople · 05/04/2019 23:14

I really don't want a James/Erin romance. Too predictable. Much prefer them as a band of pals. Would have preferred if she'd got together with the Full Blown Protestant from the first episode.

Shmoople · 05/04/2019 23:17

Plus sitcoms always get too soapy when they start trying to engineer a romance between two main characters, and they end up losing the essence of the programme.

ilovepixie · 09/04/2019 21:30

OMG in Tears here. Brilliant episode.

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 09/04/2019 21:33

So brilliant.

Also loved "are you on glue". They totally know how many of MN watch it!

groundcontroltomontydon · 09/04/2019 21:35

Awww fantastic!

Eve · 09/04/2019 21:39

... it’ll give the pope ideas and I Tony need that !

Also thought of mumsnet with the are you on glue!

And a 3rd series to look forward to!!

Aww, I knew James couldn’t leave his Derry girls!

I hate that this show only last for 6 episodes.

“Burt” (real name ballyhornan) is actually a little tiny village a few miles from me. It was all biz when we heard Derry girls were going to be filming there. All the teens headed out to see if they could get a part in the show Grin

mummagirl · 09/04/2019 21:58

I stood with my new husband, 10 rows back as Clinton switched on Belfast's Christmas lights.
11 months later, my daughter was born to the music of Enya (music on tonight's show)
I have completely cried through every moment of tonight's episode. Not one of you can understand the emotions of Clinton visiting then.....I taught in Belfast then and we really were in the middle of a new age

Seen a comment on twitter and checked it out - GFA was signed 21 years ago tomorrow.

Oh me too mumma girl, I was a newbie teacher and it was so exciting to go to see Hillary and Bill turn on the Christmas lights. I hated any cynicism about it. It was a time so full of hope. James’ mum was brilliant, so up her own arse. This series fills me with nostalgia.

AllGoodDogs · 09/04/2019 22:19

What a fab episode tonight. Loved all the "weans" and eyebrow talk!

idoliketobebesidethesea · 09/04/2019 22:26

Lisa McGee has beautifully captured the sense of hope in NI at the time. Much as I laugh at Derry Girls I find it so poignant...another episode laughing and crying! Genius

Cocollepew · 09/04/2019 23:00

The whole series has been so good. Sister Michael's face during the singing was class Grin

implantsandaDyson · 09/04/2019 23:05

I really loved this series - I think I cried through most of it Blush. I was 21 when Clinton came. I was at work in Belfast and we were all allowed out to see when his car passed. Agree it's so hard to explain what it meant. I was trying to explain to my teen and that's when the tears started! and I'm hard as all get out Wink

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 09/04/2019 23:07

God, Fleabag finale yesterday and Derry Girls tonight - my mascara can't take it, I look like a frigging panda!

TheweewitchRoz · 09/04/2019 23:16

Phenomenal episode. Another who remembers the Clinton visit - in floods of tears & laughing at the same time. Lisa McGee is an amazing writer.

OneInAMillionYou · 09/04/2019 23:17

Whooped out loud at the Series 3 announcement! Delighted.

Absolutely love this programme and the writer must be a genius. Family life is so beautifully observed.

Also not in favour of Erin/James romance, please keep them as a gang of friends, all loving one another with understated acceptance. The girls sadness when James was leaving was beautifully played.

TheweewitchRoz · 09/04/2019 23:42

I agree @OneInAMillionYou

AverageMan · 10/04/2019 00:14

Burt is actually a real village outside Derry, they just filmed the scenes in Ballyhornan.

Thought the writing has been weak considering the acting talent. It relies mostly on nostalgia.

Switsy · 10/04/2019 00:52

Jenny Joyce always makes me laugh when she's doing her geeky singing thing Grin
