Starts Tues 5th.

Looks like it’s set in the 1990s this time.

OP posts:

LOL @ JP, the dirtiest ride in Derry.

MadameAnchou · 02/04/2019 22:54

Fuck-a-doodle-do!

IsabelleSE19 · 02/04/2019 22:56

Also loved James at the door and Orla having her Granda as prom date! Nearly cried at Erin sitting waiting for her date in that godawful dress - I remember exactly what it felt like to lose your heart to some undeserving boy who didn't know you were alive!

Icantreachthepretzels · 03/04/2019 00:48

I was so excited when I realised James was going to be the one to take Erin to the dance (sometime whilst she was sitting waiting). When the doorbell rang I was on the edge of my seat 'is it? is it? is it? yessss!'

RuggerHug · 03/04/2019 08:01

There's one more and POSSIBLE SPOILER RE THE PLOT IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW!!!!

it's the build up to Christmas in Derry and everyone is buzzing about Clinton visiting.

GarthFunkel · 03/04/2019 12:36

"I'm going to the prom with John Paul O'Reilly"
"I don't care if you're going to the prom with John Paul II" Grin Grin

AnneOfCleanTables · 03/04/2019 14:58

Loved this episode. I sometimes think Erin's actress can be a bit ott but she was fab as she sat waiting. Also, love that James is a Dr Who fan.

Sitdownstandup · 03/04/2019 15:55

James turning up at the door, Orla choosing her granda to go to the prom, that ending... I appear to have something in my eye.

MargoLovebutter · 03/04/2019 16:07

Great episode.

Loved everyone coming out onto the street celebrating when the IRA ceasefire was announced. A timely reminder of just how precious that GFA is.

The 'Chinese' girl from Donegal was inspired and reminded me so much of the fever-pitch excitement we'd get into at school when anyone remotely different / foreign arrived and I grew up in the south of England!!!!!

Sister Michael is superb every single time - she should have her own show.

ILoveMaxiBondi · 03/04/2019 16:13

We had a “Chinese” (but actually local) girl at our girls grammar who was a big ball of trouble fun! Grin her parents didn’t speak English well at all and she was always getting into trouble but would refuse to translate for her parents when they were called in. She had a cousin at the school who was an A* student, well behaved and the poor cousin was always dragged out of class to translate the bollockings. I would love to have been a fly on the wall when cousin had to tell her aunt and uncle that fun girl had deliberately made out with another (also fun) girl infront of the Male, and very straight laced, VP on one of our sponsored walks. Grin

GoGoGadgetGin · 03/04/2019 21:47

Got to be another series Bondi!

Icantreachthepretzels · 03/04/2019 23:31

I hope there's another - but then I reckon that will be our lot. They'll be in their final year of school in a third season.

EachandEveryone · 04/04/2019 00:39

Gosh i was bawling at the end of that! I think the music is spot on.

Weepingwillows12 · 04/04/2019 13:56

Just watched it. Loved James at the door. And Erin's mums face as she sat and waited with her. Such a good show.

Lovewineandchocs · 05/04/2019 09:33

Yes, I know Lisa the writer of it and she has always said her intention is to get them through three years of school. She also wants one of them to get a boyfriend in the next series or Claire to get a girlfriend Grin

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 05/04/2019 09:36

It was the view down into the hall where James was waiting that made me tear up - the well worn carpet and the wallpaper. Took me right back.

AverageMan · 05/04/2019 10:34

The actress who played Mae Cheung is Aoife Hinds, daughter of Ciaran Hinds.

ThanksItHasPockets · 05/04/2019 11:59

I had a really powerful Proustian moment at Independent Love Song by Scarlet. I don’t think I’ve heard it for twenty years.

Icantreachthepretzels · 05/04/2019 15:52

Surely Erin and James are end game? Hence why he's written as Michelle's cousin and not her's.

Orla with a boyfriend would be hilarious, though.

ILoveMaxiBondi · 05/04/2019 15:55

They’re all pretty horrible to James. It would be totally unbelievable that Erin would suddenly fall for him.

Brienneoftarthiloveyou · 05/04/2019 16:00

I've thought all along that Erin likes James & that was especially obvious when the Chernobyl girl wanted to shag him.

Mrsjayy · 05/04/2019 16:00

I think it is just Michelle thats horrible to james the rest are a bit indifferent in that teenage girl way

Icantreachthepretzels · 05/04/2019 16:10

I'm glad I'm not the only one reading Erin/ James subtext Grin. She just doesn't know that she likes him yet.

Brienneoftarthiloveyou · 05/04/2019 16:32

That's what I think too @Icantreachthepretzels Grin

MadameAnchou · 05/04/2019 18:22

Oh, definitely Erin and James. She was never really horrible to him, just Michelle.
