Oh my good god. Just coming to the end of the first new episode. Thrilling.

Idris is also not bad to look at!

That was shit. The psychomurders felt like they were a sub plot.... which then made them superfluous and gratuitous rather than intriguing.

The gang stuff was dull.

They turned Alice into a whinging pain in the ass then killed her.

And no one would ever work with him again because all his partners/colleagues get murdered.

Shit. Gutted.

YummyBelicious · 05/01/2019 07:28

Let's face it, Alice probably isn't even actually dead 🙄😉

blamethecat · 05/01/2019 08:14

I don't think she is, we didn't see them remove her or the murdering surgeon, so she probably hopped up and scarpered.

Hazlenutpie · 05/01/2019 08:40

I do hope they do another series. What exactly can they do Luther for? Alice probably did jump up and disappear, so.....

Boredboredboredboredbored · 05/01/2019 08:54

What a load of hyped up, overrated rubbish. So far fetched it was embarrassing to watch.

LutherRalph1 · 05/01/2019 08:56

If Luther is bent, I would love a crossover with line of duty

Would never happen, but I think I'd explode!!

WildImaginings · 05/01/2019 09:27

Gutted with what they've done to the series and the characters tbh.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 05/01/2019 09:29

That really wasn't worth the hype and the wait. It was all wrong on so many levels.

longwayoff · 05/01/2019 09:57

That was a poorly edited mess. Very very annoying. I'm feeling nearly as cross as Alice . . .

StoorieHoose · 05/01/2019 09:59

Luther/ Line Of Duty crossover!!! Can you imagine. I’d love to see Hastings be the one to bring Luther down!!

I’d pay double the license fee for that series alone

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 05/01/2019 10:16

Speaking of Line of Duty - sure the next (fifth?) series is coming soon (can't wait!) as I saw a trailer for it t'other week.

NoWordForFluffy · 05/01/2019 10:26

Yes, LoD is back very soon (yay!). On reflection, I much prefer LoD over Luther. I'm not really into horror / gore and Luther can be way too graphic for me at times (I'm more sensitive to it post-children too).

I too would pay double licence fee for a LoD / Luther crossover. That would be amazing!

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/01/2019 10:27

Alice killed to many people before she’s killed to help /protect Luther

But no need to kill holiday :(

Will ALICE be dead - or paralysed

But of naff ending and seemed to gloss over Jeremy killings due to ALICE

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 05/01/2019 10:31

But of naff ending and seemed to gloss over Jeremy killings agree that part of the plot wasn't entirely explained/resolved was it? It was a rather over gory side-show rather than the main event.

NoWordForFluffy · 05/01/2019 10:37

I love that George was saved from Alice by an armed police unit. Though I'm amazed nobody thought to even ask George WTF was shooting at him from the garden! Very odd indeed.

ChesterGreySideboard · 05/01/2019 10:39

I was rather hoping that Halliday was going to get her own program. I’d love that. Just people without any problems in their life solving crimes.

I don’t understand why Jeremy went through all the faff of buying an over priced second hand fridge to get a woman. What if she hadn’t fitted in the suitcase? What if her partner or children had been there? She would be missed.
Without wishing to sound crass why not pick up a sex worker from the street of even a homeless woman?
And the chap he strung up under the bridge. I know this is London and people will often look the other way but did no one honestly spot him doing that?

StoorieHoose · 05/01/2019 10:44

Anyone who has seen scaffolding would know that a bit of wood would not be there to conveniently push Alice through! That bit really annoyed me

BitOutOfPractice · 05/01/2019 10:56

I thought the Alice element ruined it tbh. I'd have preferred it just to be about the murders with Luther trying to manage Cornelius on the side. Alice felt shoe-Horned in to me.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 05/01/2019 11:07

Alice was annoying! Fed up that so many main characters are getting killed, it's turning into Spooks. It was quite shocking when Justin was killed off because he'd been in it so long. Now there is no time to get invested in any of the characters. I much prefer the original series with different stories every week, this just feels overblown and full of itself.

BentNeckLady · 05/01/2019 11:10

feels overblown and full of itself.

^ yes!

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 05/01/2019 11:17

I wish they'd not made series 5...

Awrite · 05/01/2019 11:24

Yes, disappointing ending. Halliday seems to have been universally loved by viewers. Very short sighted.

So many plot holes. The serial killings relegated to unresolved sideshow. I wanted meaty interview dialogue with HN. Maybe we've been spoiled by LoD.

One thing I did love though - the way Alice said 'John' when she was angry. So much judgement in her tone.

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 05/01/2019 11:35

It was so silly. Definitely too much George/Alice and not enough of the serial killer stuff. Disjointed and nonsensical in the end. How the fuck did Jeremy manage to kill the shopper guy and hoist the corpse over southbank in broad daylight without being spotted by anyone? It’s hardly a quiet little corner.

AngeloMysterioso · 05/01/2019 12:17

And how the hell did Alice know where Luther and Halliday were?!

StoorieHoose · 05/01/2019 12:17

Alice must have had a police scanner and heard Halliday call it in.
