Oh my good god. Just coming to the end of the first new episode. Thrilling.

Idris is also not bad to look at!

Delatron - I think it was The Bridge. I said the same thing to DH.

NoWordForFluffy · 04/01/2019 22:52

@Delatron, it was either The Killing or The Bridge I think.

DJR · 04/01/2019 22:53

I think the hitman was Schenk's son.....in an earlier conversation with Schenk, George referred to his son as being a bent cop. Then when the hitman's body was discovered, Schenk was very upset and went to see George who showed him the pic. Why would Schenke be so bothered about a hitman? So I think that's why he turned on Luther.

Delatron · 04/01/2019 22:55

Thanks Polkadot and Noword , was racking my brain where I’d seen it. Bit of a copy!

Pommes · 04/01/2019 22:55

@DJR I thought the bent cop reference was about Luther? I could be wrong.

LemonRedwood · 04/01/2019 22:58

Why would Schenke be so bothered about a hitman?

He wasn't. It was Benny's body in the back of the van.

nowifi · 04/01/2019 22:59

3D printers for the mans face?

ChesterGreySideboard · 04/01/2019 23:01

When Luther hit the mask it seemed to shatter like china. Also 3D printing is in one colour. Not realistic colours like that.

canigetaliein · 04/01/2019 23:02

I get that for member of the public NoWordForFluffy, just suprised they would arrest a police officer in that manner particularly as the only real “evidence” won’t be bagged, tagged & put in the evidence room.

canigetaliein · 04/01/2019 23:03

I too thought Benny was in the van & Luther was the bent/wrong’un.

ChesterGreySideboard · 04/01/2019 23:08

I watched the first series on Netflix then watched this after all the hype.
I liked it to a point but they should have done one story or the other.

I’d have sooner seen the serial killer story rather than all this mob boss / villanelle type stuff.

I felt really bad for Haliday as she did all the work while Luther pissed about and then waltzed in to save the day, and that was before she got shot.

Also, Luther must have stunk. All this and he didn’t change his shirt let alone have a wash.

And he doesn’t wear his seatbelt.

ChesterGreySideboard · 04/01/2019 23:13

Oh and what sodding time was it ever?

They go in the house, dark; they come out, less that 15 minutes later because the boss chap hadn’t turned up, and it’s daylight.

tranquilitybasehotel · 04/01/2019 23:16

I agree an unsatisfying series, however DP raises the point that schenk put a jacket over Luther's handcuffs (why was Luther wearing two jackets?) was this to make it seem like to everyone else he was innocent and hadn't been arrested for some reason.

ChesterGreySideboard · 04/01/2019 23:19

One overcoat, one jacket.

ChesterGreySideboard · 04/01/2019 23:20

Oh and the doctors’ house was ace.

Pommes · 04/01/2019 23:22

@tranquilitybasehotel I took that as a sign of his continuing respect to Luther, regardless of the allegations against him.

Mner2019 · 04/01/2019 23:26

Agree with the comments above. Too much gangland and Alice, not enough psycho killer stuff.

Alice should have shot Luther rather than Halliday. That would have provided a better angle for the next series. All the women have gone now - teller, Mrs Luther, Alice, Halliday...

I would like to think I’m not going to watch another series. It feels like it should already have ended and repeating the same old stuff.

How did Luther go from dragging himself about on the floor to pretty much walking again in minutes?

BlancheM · 04/01/2019 23:31

Technically Luther broke every ethical rule in the book and his crimes are endless. He was Alice's reluctant-but-not-really-reluctant accomplice for starters and getting mixed up with her saw his colleagues killed, so I don't know why an old school cop like Schenk was all 'there, there' with him in the end. Still would, though Grin

zenasfuck · 04/01/2019 23:32

How did they work out where the killer was ? They said something about the schoolteacher but I seem to have completely missed that part

BlancheM · 04/01/2019 23:42

Zena they worked out he was arrogant enough to go the the most obvious place you could think of. Apparently, this wasn't his home as that was swarmed with officers, so they went with the scene of one of his most recent crimes (which it actually wasn't :/ )

Encyclo · 04/01/2019 23:47

It will definitely be back, if Idris wants to do it, and it seems like he does, I’m sure the BBC snap his hand off.

He is such a compelling character and the crossover between his work and personal life has always been what drives his story. His friends, family and colleagues have all paid the price.

I want to see more, want to see it resolved finally.

ChesterGreySideboard · 05/01/2019 00:09

I thought the link to the teachers house was tenuous also.
The only link there was the victim knocking on the door. Why not the house the body with nails in was found in, over the road.
And while we are on the subject of the first body, when Luther looked through the window there was a ton of flies.
Why?
As I understand it a load of flies is often an indicator of a dead body that has been there a while because flies have laid eggs which have hatched and become flies. I don’t think you’d get that many flies overnight.
(Sorry if that’s been covered, I’ve been watching on catch up so not read the full thread)

BeyondShattered · 05/01/2019 00:19

Viques, I've only just done a rewatch so as soon as they went in the building site I knew someone would be falling from a great height. I was leaning more towards it being Luther though

Snugglepiggy · 05/01/2019 00:24

Also when the body slammed against the window and scared the first victim he ran to the teachers door frantically trying to get in.The killer -Jeremy as we later found out -chased him with the LED hood on killed him.Yet when Luther finds the original body - with the flies, which also seemed wrong - it was covered in nails.Did Jeremy return and do that ?He must have otherwise he couldn't have had time to place them all and chase the lad.Too many loose ends.Agree they should have focused more on the serial killer and paid better attention to detail and depth of that story.Gruesome as it was.

xsquared · 05/01/2019 00:26

I am pleased that they spared Mark. After Benny and Halliday's death, it wouldn't have surprised me if they bumped him off too. He is a witness and a threat to George.
