Bros : After the Screaming Stops

Has anyone else watched this? It’s on the BBC iPlayer, and I watched it this morning. It’s a documentary that explores the brothers’ time in the band and a bit about what they’ve done since the split. Weirdly, the third member of Bros, Craig, was airbrushed out - not mentioned or even referenced at all. It mostly focussed on a come back concert that they performed at the O2.

In my opinion, neither brother came across particularly well - they both have huge egos and want to be the ‘boss’ in the band. They’ve spent most of the last 25 years in the States, and take themselves way too seriously.

I did enjoy it, but, probably, for the wrong reasons - it was cringeworthy and a bit of a car crash. Would be interested in hearing what others thought of it.

@DaffodilsAreHereAgain

I saw that and took a slighter different/dimmer view that one of them encountered Matt socially or Luke or both separately

Realised.

Exploited them to the fullest.

DaffodilsAreHereAgain · 11/01/2019 14:56

Possible. I'd like to think not. I think it would be very funny if they announced that it was a spoof.

James Corden's MO is a laugh openly at people though and make them laugh at themselves, rather than mocking cruelly from afar like this show does.

nowifi · 11/01/2019 20:52

Best bit where Matt is banging on about conkers and Luke goes "I can live with it" Grin

MrsJamin · 11/01/2019 21:33

The production team knew alright. See this... Matt said: “The extreme contrasts in an artist’s life are very rarely documented, I’m looking forward to being a fly on the wall within my own life.”

smallgirlproblems · 13/01/2019 17:45

I watched it and (quite unbelievably) my OH watched the whole thing too. My friend told me it was "interesting" and said nearly everything Matt said was from therapy or a self help book.
It was incredibly sad in places (talking about their mum and sister) and hilarious in others. I thought Luke seemed more likeable (or at least genuine) than Matt. They do seem to take themselves incredibly seriously though, and having seen how they (didn't) get on, not sure what the reason behind the reunion tour was? Both have been successful in America so presumably not in desperate need of the money.I am a twin and we row like crazy sometimes but for the main are completely best friends. Its sad they seemed so detached from each other.
I found it interesting how different they looked from each other when they were almost indistinguishable back in the day. Obviously Matt has had a lot of work done, but I thought he seemed very vacant and his eyes had no expression.
I noticed that Craig (ken - I had forgotten he was called that!!) had been erased from the story despite there being plenty of footage of him in the old videos...and I was amazed at the people at the airport.
I have really LOL at this thread.

Luke has tweeted that he's happy with the documentary and not to believe the papers

Bros are back out touring if anyone wants tickets!

OMG. Just watching this now. DD16 has no,idea who Bros are/were. She is a massive fan of This Country and People Just Do Nothing, and she just came in and watched for a few minutes and assumed it was another comedy in the same vein. Lol’d at H, O, M and E 😂. She’s hoping they get a series commissioned.

LindaLa · 14/01/2019 20:36

I know someone who shagged them both. Not at the same time I asked, apparently both the same in bed.

Lay there and let you get on with it whilst telling you how lucky you are.

Banjax · 14/01/2019 20:50

Really?! I assumed Matt was gay!

LindaLa · 14/01/2019 21:15

I never said she or he

MiceSqueakCatsMeow · 14/01/2019 21:51

No, I think they are in on the joke. This cannot be real. It's like a brain fart that's been recorded for our entertainment.

Grammy78 · 15/01/2019 13:44

I wonder how much money Luke has spent on band tshirts/vests? He was wearing a different one for pretty much every scene.

cushioncovers · 17/01/2019 10:03

Really?! I assumed Matt was gay!

Me too

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 18/01/2019 17:38

It made me cry when they were talking about their mum and sister. And when Luke talked about having to ask for the engagement ring back.

Oxytocindeficient · 21/01/2019 12:23

I was a Brosette and they were always taking the piss out of themselves, each other and everyone else. I think it’s part reality, part seeing what they can get away with. Luke’s an actor remember. They were also always slightly dorky and definitely not everyone’s cup of tea. I thought it came across that Luke was pretty ungrateful and resentful of his much more musically talented brother. He should appreciate that it was Matts voice that propelled them. I hope they can get along from now on though.

potatoscone · 21/01/2019 12:26

Like is more talented at what he does by a mile though. If you compare singers, Matt is pretty average. Compare drummers? Luke is at the upper end.

But what you posted is exactly why Luke had many issues.

Oxytocindeficient · 21/01/2019 16:36

Oh I guess it’s a matter of opinion! But from my memory, Matt was the reason they had the following they did. Luke hasn’t been drumming professionally for years.

potatoscone · 21/01/2019 16:38

I'm not disagreed with you there, but the problems arose because Luke never got the recognition her deserved.

Oxytocindeficient · 21/01/2019 16:44

I’m sure. I felt a bit sad for him he thought that Matt was the more popular one. I think that was initially true but he had his own pretty committed fans as they went on, he was my sisters favourite!

MabelFurball · 21/01/2019 21:19

They are going to be on the One Show on Thursday.

smallgirlproblems · 21/01/2019 23:51

I wonder whether they will have a massive row before the One show...? (probably!)

IAmRubbishAtDIY · 25/01/2019 10:09

Did anyone see The One Show? I'm still halfway through the documentary, I'm just finding it really sad. I know one twin with a similar relationship, there must be so much pressure to be best friends and maybe always pushed together as children too much? Is it better if twins are treated as two separate people with their own friends, likes and hobbies rather than 'the twins'?

goingtotown · 27/01/2019 00:34

It’s got to be a spoof.
