Has anyone else watched this? It’s on the BBC iPlayer, and I watched it this morning. It’s a documentary that explores the brothers’ time in the band and a bit about what they’ve done since the split. Weirdly, the third member of Bros, Craig, was airbrushed out - not mentioned or even referenced at all. It mostly focussed on a come back concert that they performed at the O2.

In my opinion, neither brother came across particularly well - they both have huge egos and want to be the ‘boss’ in the band. They’ve spent most of the last 25 years in the States, and take themselves way too seriously.

I did enjoy it, but, probably, for the wrong reasons - it was cringeworthy and a bit of a car crash. Would be interested in hearing what others thought of it.

Yay cheers @alansleftfoot

ChristineBaskets · 04/01/2019 20:57

Thanks Alan that's hilarious! French and Saunders were geniuses weren't they.

MacarenaFerreiro · 05/01/2019 09:35

DH and I watched this open mouthed last night. I was in my mid-teens at the height of Bros fever and remember it well.

Agree that Luke came over much better than Matt. Matt was so up himself it wasn't true, his talking heads bits when he spouted a lot of shite at the camera were just cringeworthy. And he didn't understand where Luke was coming from at all - that he was basically told at the height of their fame to sit behind the drums and look pretty while his brother took centre stage.

Out of the two, if I had to choose who to go for a coffee and a chat with, it'd be Luke.

MozzchopsThirty · 05/01/2019 11:27

This morning they did a little 'bros or brent' piece
Seeing if they could guess who said what!

MozzchopsThirty · 05/01/2019 11:28

Sorry on radio 1

Inkanta · 05/01/2019 12:32

Yes I found myself comparing their personalities throughout the programme.

Luke seemed the angry and bitter one to start with but I warmed towards him as time went on. He's made a good life for himself as an actor and sustained a long term relationship with his wife. He's also a damn good drummer and a good looker - in a rock n roll kind of way. Matt on the other hand is still a pretty boy, and lovable with his words of wisdom, but the more self absorbed and immature of the two. Both of them are very intense Smile

Azzizam · 05/01/2019 20:47

Luke Goss is well hot now! I found myself tearing up from when they spoke of the loss of their dear mother.

Yes it was Brentesque in parts but I really enjoyed it.

Can't sleep and watching this. My inner 11yr old is cringing at the reality check.

Waves at the PP that said they went on to NKOTB, same here.

On a positive note the difference between them Botox-wise is so obvious, Matt's gone all slanty-eyed-- and facially immobile, it's actually put me off getting it again.--

No mention at all of Craig?

LadyRochfordsHoickedGusset · 06/01/2019 04:06

Just watched the mum bit. That is very sad.

MrsJamin · 06/01/2019 07:44

Loved this, so many things they said were WTF! It was like it was written by the same people as spinal tap. What nobs they came across as. I am going to watch it again, there were too Many hilarious quotes. They totally tipped off the fans to appear at the airport, they wouldn't get greeted like that spontaneously.
My sister was into Bros, I was a little bit young I think (40 now) - take that were more my Era of boy band!

cosytidy · 06/01/2019 14:56

Incredible telly. Can't wait to watch it again!
Matt Goss-as well as the Botox, cheek fillers & wig did anyone think he was on something? I'd guess an opiate drug that are pretty common in US

alansleftfoot · 06/01/2019 15:00

Need to dig out my cassette tape of 'Push' with B side 'Pull' (if I had something to play it on !)

potatoscone · 06/01/2019 15:05

I listened to the album (just on Apple Music so no sides) the other day. It's really dire.

purpleelk · 06/01/2019 16:17

I loved it! So bloody funny!!! My favourite quote is...

“I think hindsight is the philosophy of fools. You learn nothing in some way, because sometimes you have to do the same again.”

I hope someone signs them up for their own reality show - they’re tv gold.

LadyRochfordsHoickedGusset · 06/01/2019 16:23

You know what, they should make it into some sort of pseudo-comedy like The Office of People Just do Nothing. BBC are you listening?Grin.

LadyRochfordsHoickedGusset · 06/01/2019 16:24

Or

Croft1971 · 06/01/2019 17:48

CosyTidy... I agree. Saw Matt on a Sat morning cooking programme a while back and remember saying to DH he seemed high. Kept staring into camera when answering questions and lots of awkward silences.

HouseOfMouse · 06/01/2019 18:11

I actually think they both seem unhappy and were pinning a lot on their “comeback”. I think Matt would much rather be a bona fide pop star selling out huge venues rather than his Vegas “residencies” in a succession of tiny hotel bars, even if they pay well. And I’m sure Luke would rather be a film star than churning out all those straight-to-DVD horror films. It must be hard when they have known the level of fame they once had, albeit briefly. They both came across as a bit sad and desperate I thought.

captainpantbeard · 06/01/2019 18:14

I’d forgotten about the conker petition and H O M E GrinGrin

DS just looked over my shoulder and said ‘Is this about the licking?’ - there was that bit where one of them was licking the other one’s ear??

fussychica · 07/01/2019 10:52

Just watched the French and Saunders sketch after many years. Hilarious and still totally accurateGrin
An unintentionally funny programme, some of Matt's line will become comedy classics.

SoHumble · 07/01/2019 12:58

I can’t stop thinking about this programme. So so funny!

cushioncovers · 10/01/2019 19:20

Brilliant

DaffodilsAreHereAgain · 11/01/2019 14:46

So I've just watched this. I noticed at the end that two of the Associate Producers are James Corden and Ben Winston (both of Late Late Show / Sport Relief fame), so I suspect that maybe the joke is on us...
