Bros : After the Screaming Stops

Has anyone else watched this? It’s on the BBC iPlayer, and I watched it this morning. It’s a documentary that explores the brothers’ time in the band and a bit about what they’ve done since the split. Weirdly, the third member of Bros, Craig, was airbrushed out - not mentioned or even referenced at all. It mostly focussed on a come back concert that they performed at the O2.

In my opinion, neither brother came across particularly well - they both have huge egos and want to be the ‘boss’ in the band. They’ve spent most of the last 25 years in the States, and take themselves way too seriously.

I did enjoy it, but, probably, for the wrong reasons - it was cringeworthy and a bit of a car crash. Would be interested in hearing what others thought of it.

Is there any way to watch this not on iPlayer? I'm abroad... Might it be on YouTube? [asks the biggest Bridgette]

well that was highly entertaining....for all the wrong reasons. My husband was also front man in a band with his brother....he says its hard even if you're harmonious.

I thought it was really compelling. They both seemed like nice guys but with a lot of tension and they obviously wanted to play up for the cameras. The thing about conkers from matt - wtf?!

@banjax - are you married to one of the proclaimers?

Watched this last night and it was hilarious in parts and tedious in others. Like came across as a bit nicer than Matt, though they are both as thick and pretentious and each other. Matt showing the camera around his flat reminded me of Alan Partridge doing his Hamilton Water Breaks video (where he puts Dundee cake down the chemical toilet).

Felt sorry for Luke as he was clearly quite embarrassed in parts.

Craig went on to be massively successful in the music business in his own right I believe (producer, seriously senior exec).

I'm watching it now. Very sad overall. My DH pointed out, however, that Luke winds Matt up a lot - I hadn't noticed & thought Matt was a dick, but when he highlighted it to me it was hard not to notice & made me feel sorry for Matt (just a little!). I'd like to hear from Craig though!

That's really interesting. I saw it as Luke asserting himself like he never did the first time. Matt is so clearly used to being the front man and the main attraction he can't handle Luke being assertive.

Wow, super cringe at the Goss twins! They really think they are something special. However, I was actually quite impressed with their musicality although the songs were a bit meh. I expected them to be totally untalented like the manufactured bands nowadays so that was a surprise. They both seem very unhappy though and I would love to hear Ken’s* side.

I was a Bros fan when I was 12...they were my first concert experience. Unfortunately my friend remembered this and got us tickets for Wembley last year. I had to pay for my flights and hotel to see the biggest load of rubbish! I even texted my parents to find out how they could have let me ever like them lol.
Every song sounded the same, and was drawn out and repeated ad nauseum, because they had hardly any material.
Matt spent most of the night up his own arse...Luke seemed more normal.

They're both knobs and Luke clearly still has a massive chip on his shoulder. My dad is a musician and said his drumming was sloppy

I just kept thinking how weird it was that they were that famous but I only know one song. They never play bros songs on the radio or at retro 80s nights or whatever.

I am pretty up on my pop knowledge (Ken Bruce every morning) but I could not name a Bros song other than the obvious.

DH said it was like the steps reunion documentary but they were all Lisa Scott Lee.

I know three Bros songs but can never remember all three at the same time - When Will I Be Famous, Drop The Boy ( I don’t know if it is actually called that!) and....another one which if I remember it I will forget one of those two.

Also Cat Among The Pigeons but that isn’t one of the three, I only remember the title for that, not the tune or any of the lyrics.

I Owe You Nothing! That’s the other one.
