I enjoyed the first series (which is currently on iplayer) - some terrific performances, esp from Lesley Manville, Dorothy Atkinson and Lisa McGrillis. For any other fans, Series 2 starts 20 FebSmile

Thanks. Missed the cheap and free option though 🙄

Trying to catch on anything and everything Peter Mullen is in.

I wonder what the writer saw in Peter Mullen that he specifically wanted him for the part - he is absolutely great in it though granted

Slarty - he's wonderful in both Sunshine on Leith and Hector.

I'm a bit behind-just watched the 3rd episode-the bbq.

Fantastic.

The ILs together in the house-so sad.

Pauline helping Danielle with the knitting.

Just a fab episode.

Which episode was Pauline talking about Waitrose not being a supermarket?

Report
southeastdweller · 03/04/2018 22:23

That was in the first series about Waitrose.

I've just watched the November episode of this- I think it's the last in the series? Boo!! I LOVED it!

If they were holding hands by the fireworks it was the last in the series sadly.

I went in Booths today and found myself wondering what Pauline would make of it. Grin I really can't wait for the next series. It was a lovely half an hour each week.

I've just spent a week staying with my mother-in-law and spent the whole time worrying in case I was being too Kelly every time I said anything to her or picked up something to eat Grin

@EnidButton I was in a Booths yesterday and thought the same thing!! It was a very posh one mind you. Pauline would be in her element.

I didnt watch this at first as for some reason thought it was the same programme as Stella -which I also dont watch. So when people kept talking about Mum I didnt ask too many questions .I tuned out and let them get on with their chat about characters I never heard of.
But last week someone insisted that I watch this programme. They also cleared up my mistaken ideas about the type of programme it was.
I was irritated at first by the other characters but slowly started to recognise them as people I 'know' and then marvelled at the acting skill .Im fascinated by Pauline .
I binge watched using all manner of online video sites to see all of the episodes. Why on earth BBc cant keep more than 3 episodes at one time is beyond me.Thanks to PP who linked the youtube playlist . Anyway I saved the last 2 to watch today.
Im blown away by the acting , the pace, the writing and the storyline. I cried .No I didnt cry .I sobbed . I never cry at anything and can always rise above deliberate heart string pulling. Not this time.
Perfect .Just perfect and now Ill have to go back and watch the whole lot again.Smile

Report
diddl · 07/04/2018 19:25

Sorry, just googled & it seems yes!

Wonder what it will be about?

Hope it doesn't focus too much on the son!

I have to say I was quite shocked that he got a job in Australia lol

Report
diddl · 07/04/2018 21:21

Yes!

Was he actually offered something or just looking?

Felt a bit sorry for Pauline in this one-she's obviously hurting about the divorce.

I’m so glad I found this thread! Mum (along with Peter Kay’s Car Share) is the most fantastic, beautiful programme I’ve seen in years. I only started watching series 1 for Ross Boatman but after a couple of episodes I couldn’t get enough of it, so many heart wrenching and beautiful moments, too many to mention.
Out of interest, does anyone know exactly what street the exterior shots are filmed in? I know it’s Croxley Green which is where my grandad grew up and he is very interested to know exactly where it is 😊
