I enjoyed the first series (which is currently on iplayer) - some terrific performances, esp from Lesley Manville, Dorothy Atkinson and Lisa McGrillis. For any other fans, Series 2 starts 20 FebSmile

What's the mother-in-law called? When Reg was dancing I thought at first she'd passed away and I started sobbing (am a bit hormonal atm!) and then I continued through Cathy's speech and then to the end Blush

EnidButton · 27/03/2018 22:45

Oh god why does it make me cry so much? Blush I don't have the hormones excuse. Actual sobs!

Reg dancing, then I thought Nann had died, then Cathy saying she wants to do everything with Michael and then the hand holding.

EnidButton · 27/03/2018 22:45

Although I have had a tough day but still...Blush

EnidButton · 27/03/2018 22:47

And I still ❤️ Pauline.

"Did he...bleed?"

swimchick1980 · 27/03/2018 22:48

I thought Maureen was dead too.....Reg was so sweet #couplegoals

123fushia · 27/03/2018 22:48

Whole series lovely....just lovely. X

southeastdweller · 27/03/2018 22:49

Even Pauline enjoyed the fireworks!

ToffeeUp · 27/03/2018 22:50

That made me well up a bit, so lovely and so funny

Hardwickwhite · 27/03/2018 22:50

Perfect. I wish there was a heart exploding with joy emoji. Blush

Cupoteap · 27/03/2018 22:59

All I have seen is the last 10 mins of the final episode and I amdefo going to go back and watch both series

southeastdweller · 27/03/2018 23:07

I understand that Jason feels protective of his mum and late father but his emotional immaturity is very annoying. In Cathy's position I wouldn't be as patient as she is and it'll be interesting to see how she deals with his reaction to the new relationship in the third series.

MyOtherProfile · 27/03/2018 23:08

Perfect ending to the series. Although my dh sabotaged my joy at the end as they held hands by saying he reckons Michael has had a change of heart since the last programme and wasn't as keen. Didn't really hold her hand firmly etc. Should I LTB?

EnidButton · 27/03/2018 23:32

Make him sleep in the spare room at the very least MyOther. Just think "what would Pauline do?"

I might get a t-shirt printed. Grin

Cup It's a slow burner for the first couple of episodes but that's the beauty of it. You end up really caring about them.

Kernowgal · 27/03/2018 23:44

But, MyOtherProfile's DH, Michael cried! He cried! That's not a change of heart. Don't dash my hopes for them, I'm far too invested in this Wink

ThisIsAWifeMineNow · 27/03/2018 23:49

He's spent 30 (or is it 40?) years being in love with her! He can't stop now! LALALA!

UrsulaPandress · 27/03/2018 23:53

Ooh that were luvverly.

Is there definitely a third series?

Horsemad · 28/03/2018 00:02

Loved that

dorothyparka · 28/03/2018 00:27

Aw fireworks indeed!
(I did slightly want push Jason onto the bonfire)

EnidButton · 28/03/2018 00:31

Definitely Ursula Smile

MyOtherProfile · 28/03/2018 04:05

"what would Pauline do?"

Slartybartfast · 28/03/2018 06:42

Just watched the scene outside the bathroom again, melts

The80sweregreat · 28/03/2018 06:58

I did end up watching it in real time - i hope Michael isn't getting cold feet - Jason might put him off though- i knew he'd be jealous.

It was lovely the way she told him how she felt.

Kelly seems to have matured slightly ( not much , but a little bit!)
Cathy's jumper was horrible ( i have old jumpers like that i wear to do the housework/ garden chores which i love wearing though!)
Its been a lovely series and cant wait for the third. lets hope its as good.

Homeagain76 · 28/03/2018 09:13

Love, love, love this programme. Wasn't that into at first but then found myself sitting watching it whenever it was on. So understated and the acting is so subtle and touching. Peter Mullan is an incredible actor, I think he's brilliant in any thing he does. The scene with the father in law dancing was just superb.... Hope the actors get showered in awards for this.

TheFirstMrsOsmond · 28/03/2018 09:26

I loved the way it ended with Cathy & Michael tentatively touching hands having reached an understanding but Jason looking across and noticing - such a good set up for the 3rd series which I guess might deal with how Jason gradually comes to see Cathy has her own life and is not just his mum. Several posts here have predicted Kelly might be pregnant in the next series so perhaps this is how he will become more emotionally mature - by becoming a Dad himself.

They did such a good job of bringing to a satisfactory conclusion the main story arc (Cathy & Michael) yet still having somewhere to go in a 3rd series.

spiderlight · 28/03/2018 09:44

That was amazing! Pauline is just so, so unhappy. Grandad with the stereo was just masterful - did anyone else think the gran had died in the corner though? I thought he was going to go over and find her dead, but the little adjustment of her skirt was so touching.

And Cathy telling Michael how she felt!! I squealed. Jason's little look across at them at the end though - he's not going to make it easy for them, is he?

When's it back???!
