Damson, they snuck in Colin D as a portrait in one of the previous episodes - the one with Thursday's son in the army unit. Noted upthread! 👆

AuntFidgetWonkhamStrongNajork · 12/03/2018 22:30

Who shot George?
Was it one of those dodgy Division lads?

CoolCarrie · 13/03/2018 00:42

Aunt I think you are stop on there, there is a lot more to this. Roll on next series

WipsGlitter · 13/03/2018 09:24

One of the dodgy division lads but I think the chief (with the glasses can't remember his name) is in on it too!!

"One of the dodgy division lads but I think the chief (with the glasses can't remember his name) is in on it too!!"

Bright?? Shock

WipsGlitter · 13/03/2018 15:30

Yes Bright. Something funny about his reaction when Morse went to the house.

StickStickStickStick · 13/03/2018 15:33

What new endeavour?!?!? tries not to read up and prepares to binge watch.

icelolly99 · 13/03/2018 16:45

StickStick Series 5 has just finished; all 6 episodes are on ITV Hub.

Oh fantastic. A binge watch here I come... !!

MontalbanoFan · 14/03/2018 02:00

It was certainly an uneasy meeting with Bright at his house - but it’s unthinkable that the latter should be involved in anything dodgy.

Isn’t it???

BitOfFun · 14/03/2018 02:31

Bright is kosher- I won't hear otherwise!

I love Shaun Evans in this- have you all heard him interviewed inhis normal accent? Totally swoonsome Grin

MontalbanoFan · 14/03/2018 02:48

And his lovely soft, wavy hair ......

diddl · 14/03/2018 08:31

"Isn’t it???"

Absolutely!

unless there's a very good reason Grin

Fiderer · 14/03/2018 09:08

I thought Bright (and I do like Anton Lesser) was more wistful, rather painfully so, at the end of an era, his era. As though he had long feared it and now it had happened.

Also thought the photo of the girl in his house & the reference to the tropics was that he& his wife had a child who died there.

GeekyBlinders · 14/03/2018 09:15

No, I can't believe Bright is in on it. I also thought he was referencing his daughter having died due to some tropical illness and that was why it was all awkward.

diddl · 14/03/2018 09:35

Anton Lesser is fabulous in this, isn't he?

When he met Thursday's brother-the awkwardness!

TheyBuiltThePyramids · 14/03/2018 09:46

So sad it was the last one of the series!

CoolCarrie · 14/03/2018 10:28

I think was always an air of sadness about Bright, and the fact that we never see his wife suggested that she has left him at some point, or that she keeps very busy, as her way of coping with their grief over their little girl. He is definitely one of the good guys imo.

AuntFidgetWonkhamStrongNajork · 14/03/2018 10:37

Wasn't there another end of series finale where there was police corruption and ended in a shoot out and Anton Lesser was in there firing away, whereas earlier in the series he'd been less keen to back up Morse and Thursday? I think sometimes he's been written as an ambiguous character, deliberately... perhaps he was always in Nero's pay Grin

icelolly99 · 14/03/2018 13:55

Noo, not Bright?! Shock Anton Lesser, Roger Allum, Shaun Evans and Mark Rylance are all in an elite club of excellent actors who convey so much without even having to speak. Who else would you put in this category? We need some female actors in this group?

Cherrypi · 14/03/2018 15:33

Olivia Coleman.

flapjackfairy · 14/03/2018 15:49

Emma Thompson. She is such an amazing actress and always makes me cry ! Think Sense And Sensability, Saving Mr Banks and worst of all the ending of Nanny Mcphee and the Big Bang. I blub like a baby every time.
Also i loved George Gently and i think Martin Shaw is a great actor. The chemistry between him and Lee Ingleby was amazing and often totally hilarious as George looked on smiling wrily at Bacchus' impulsive outbursts and general naive stupidity.
In fact i refuse to watch the v last episode so good old George is still alive and well in my little universe !

eddiemairswife · 14/03/2018 18:44

I remember an episode when Bright shot a tiger, and how he felt so sad that he had to do it. I think they were in a maze.

GnotherGnu · 14/03/2018 18:48

I think Bright started out regarding Morse as a mouthy young upstart, but he gradually came to recognise his talents and has been 100% on his side since Morse saved his life. So I think it has been more a case of plot and character progression rather than any ambiguity.

Akire · 14/03/2018 18:56

I was sad about Thursday and way it ended up aww especially with possible being arrested over money laundering.

I though Bright house was to show the softer side. So lost a daughter and all that. It’s something his generation wouldn’t have talked about much. He did look like an old man at the end.

Don’t know why want kill George unless he spotted something dodgy. One thing I liked about endeavour is you can watch all as one off. When carry plots over it can get confusing.
