I haven't seen the previous series - will that matter.
Will it make sense to me if I don't know the back story?

I think you can watch it without seeing the other series but it will make more sense if you have. Maybe record it and try and catch the others. The first series is especially good.

I am going to make DH watch it and he hasn't seen any of them!! Two main storylines from the first 3 series were wrapped at the end of S3. You can always ask us if anything doesn't make sense

Much remember to set the DVR. We never watch anything in real time anymore, since we got Netflix!

Really enjoyed last year though of course it got preposterous towards the end, but it was still really well acted.

I can't remember what happened to half the characters though - Adrian Dunbar, anyone?

Saw an interview with Jason Watkins this week and he said that this series storyline isn't linked to the previous one, so anyone can watch and won't be at a disadvantage. So excited, I'm counting down the hours!

This series can be watched without seeing the other ones, going by the comments I have seen.

All you really need to know is the main characters are police officers in AC12 anti corruption unit.
DS Steve Arnott, DC Kate Fleming (she works undercover) and Supt Ted Hastings are the main recurring characters across all 3 series so far.
If you get the time watch all three previous series because they are totally brilliant!

Holly, and anyone else not in the UK, try Filmontv.com to watch most of the UK channels, BBC 1, 2 3, 4, ITV etc. We are in South Africa so one hour ahead now, but I watch all my favourites on our computers, iPads, phones etc using it. You don't have to pay unless you want the programmes in HD.

I finished binge watching up to the end of series 3 last night. Can't wait to watch series 4.

Lindsay Denton was the best thing in it, such a shame that she died! I can't have been the only one watching it and thinking, "that might have happened to me because I share some of her character traits". I LOVED LOVED LOVED the bit where she punched the probation officer in the bollocks when he tried to take advantage of her, then kicked him up the arse twice. She never gave up, she was fabulous. I found her funeral sad, too. Keeley Hawes knocked it out of the park.

The other characters (and the actors playing them) were similarly great.

Bring on series 4!
