EllaHen,me too,no point going to bed for ages now!!
Pianomadness each series is a seperate case/story so you can watch it without having seen the others,BUT they do link/carry on from each other in very small ways, there is a larger story arc that is developing through each series so far,so aside from the fact that the previous series are bloody brilliant in themselves they are worth watching to get the full storyline.

EllaHen · 26/03/2017 22:30

Piano - you should be fine. Series 1-3 were all linked, as well as having their own storeylines. This one seems not to be linked to them other than there is history between Compston and McClure.

ElspethFlashman · 26/03/2017 22:31

I was fine with the whole thing till it went Full Dexter. I mean, that's just bollocks!

Now I presume Thandie will struggle with him and end up killing HIM.

EllaHen · 26/03/2017 22:31

Sorry, storylines.

QueenieGoldstein · 26/03/2017 22:32

The only link so far is the mention of ending up in court (Denton relationship with Steve) so this could well be completely separate.

ActuallyThatsSUPREMECommander · 26/03/2017 22:34

The only loose end I can remember from the past was a the dodgy middle aged blonde trying to get into Ted's pants.

After the events of series 3 I can't believe they'd kill TN off so soon - but then maybe that's what Jed was relying on us to think?

Littlepig8834 · 26/03/2017 22:35

I loved it!

I think Thandie will still be alive next week, report forensics man and try to explain that he was setting up a conspiracy against her therefore dismissing the evidence he has told AC12 about. Despite the fact he is right and they have charged an innocent man.

Mind you, I am usually wrong with these things and blame everyone at some point during the series!

fairycakecentral · 26/03/2017 22:35

Bloody hell that was good! I did think Tim might have been a baddie when I saw him (purely because of the actor - too good to have a small part) and more in the sense that Thandi newton isnt corrupt but that he is fabricating evidence to look like she is, so he gets ff on being part of the AC 12 investigation. Kind of like a munchuassan by proxy type of thing.

However, her email to reexamine the black fibres made me question that.

BUt I don't think Tim is Balaclava Man.

And, just when we are all thinking that big actor gets killed off in episode 1 - she goes and opens her eyes.

Brilliant. But Netflix has us all spoiled because I now don't like waiting on the next episode.

ButtonMooooon · 26/03/2017 22:37

I've just watched it!!! Don't think DH was overly impressed, suck it up Buttercup this is Sunday for the next 5 weeks

I wondered if the thing with TN opening her eyes at the end is like they've done in the past with people seeing people who've died and he's supposed to be having some form of hallucination

It does irritate me they send Kate under cover every time and no one EVER recognises her!! And they meet in a dodgy underground tunnel and then the next scene they're in the same office!!!

EsmesBees · 26/03/2017 22:42

I laughed at that too button. It's like Kate puts her hair up and suddenly no one recognises her. You'd think with AC12 having only 4 staff members, their faces would start to become known.

butteredbarmbrack · 26/03/2017 22:44

But surely even if Thandie is still alive, Tim's not going to let her stay that way? What with him standing over her with a chainsaw and all, just a bit incriminating....

I enjoyed it, did keep wondering why Thandie was so miserable though. Face as long as a Lurgan spade! ( good Belfast phrase in honour of Adrian Dunbar 😀)

EllaHen · 26/03/2017 22:44

For any Scottish fans - Michael Farmer is Methadone Mick! Mind blown.

Misovexed · 26/03/2017 22:51

Jumped the shark.

Spoiled Mother's Day.

Also - why hold saw as if he was about to split her skull between eyes? He'd decapitate (horizontal saw hold) or lop off a limb as first cut, surely? All wrong.

Plus. Want to go unnoticed? Don't drive/walk around wearing a balaclava. When was the last time you saw someone innocently wearing one? Suitable attire if you're in the process of committing a horrible crime but driving to diy shop, from your own flat, in your own car? Silly.

Also. That stack of cups on Tims shelf - it was the sort where cups stack inside a frame so you have to lift them up to get them out. No room to perform this as not enough clearance between top cup and shelf above. Doesn't make sense. Tim's a detail man.
DH says they were a present from his Mum so he can't throw them out but doesn't like/use them. I say his mum's dead. Obviously.

Sigh.

I may be overthinking this.

ButtonMooooon · 26/03/2017 22:52

Esme they don't even change her bloody first name!!!! And doesn't her surname usually being with F?

Ciaovenora · 26/03/2017 22:54

There are some minor links to season 1/2. Tandies boss the guy Ted had lunch with played the same role hes in now.

Who was the women in the coffee shop was she the women who was abducted, her ear was cut?

What about all the bagged up evidence Tim started to ruffle through in the flat, fag ends, hair and the Balaclava its obvious hes up to something shady.

That said, I don't know this season will work its all a tad too much.

TizzyDongue · 26/03/2017 22:56

Well that gave me at least three exclaim outloud and two grab husband's arm moments.

Only detective super sleuth moment I had was the Wrongly Accused Boy probably couldn't drive. Wanted someone to ask him!!

Only thing I thought about Oddbod Forensic Man was there was something slightly off about him - but then thought it was because he was an obsessive super geek.

Why did he have a balaclava if he's not Balaclava Man?

Misovexed · 26/03/2017 22:56

Yes, Tim went to see victim. Harvested fingerprint. Why? To plant? Did he think better of it?

onedayatatime73 · 26/03/2017 22:57

Sorry if already been asked - but how do I watch the old series on box set? Watched for first time tonight and now want to see them all!

Misovexed · 26/03/2017 23:01

I'll enjoy the ride but it has got silly. Went a bit ott at the end of series three with the crazy shoot-out but that felt sort-of deserved so gave them the benefit of the doubt but the ending on this ep just corny. The old accidental-push-leading-to-possibly-but-not-quite-fatal-head-wound scenario.

TizzyDongue · 26/03/2017 23:01

Just thought if he is Balaclava Man it'd suit him for there to be someone else out and thought to be Balaclava Man so he probably wouldn't be trying to reveal the ignoring of evidence.

Misovexed · 26/03/2017 23:03

Not sure onedayatatime - try amazon/Netflix/iplayer but you might need to pay for them at BBCstore. I assume they'll be on there.

Worth it though.

ActuallyThatsSUPREMECommander · 26/03/2017 23:03

I think the balaclava was deliberate - going out to be caught on CCTV, so TN's assumed murder would be put down to balaclava man and Michael Farmer would be in the clear.

ButtonMooooon · 26/03/2017 23:03

One day Netflix for S1and 2. Series 3 has just gone on but with varying reports of how many episodes you get, I got 1, 4 and 6!!

I also saw S1 for £7 in Asda

wowfudge · 26/03/2017 23:04

TN's character is very unsympathetic. Icy cold with everyone. I suspect, as with Lindsey in the second series, we'll find out more about her and warm to her more.

The forensics guy isn't balaclava man. He just knows enough about him to copy him and he panicked when she got knocked out. It'll be interesting to see how that scene plays out, but I doubt she'll be killed off. Something will interrupt or stop him. I suspect his conscience will get the better of him.

As for people recognising Kate - practically everyone she's spied on has ended up dead! They must have cover jobs too though or no one would ever go for a meal with Adrian Dunbar's character.

Misovexed · 26/03/2017 23:05

But Tim wasn't expecting her to come round (the meal was clearly to serve one Grin) so how come he just happened to have a balaclava in his bag?

I don't have one in the house at all, never mind in easy reach.
