Catrina, I think the hand injury is from the guy she killed (can't remember his name). He dug his fingers into her in self defence. That's why Roz cut his fingers off, so her DNA wouldn't be found on him.

CoolCarrie · 13/04/2017 20:31

I don't know why she doesn't drive to a hospital in another city to get her arm sorted and get some antibiotics, that arm wound is going to be the thing that catches her.

ActuallyThatsSUPREMECommander · 13/04/2017 22:09

It's not really been addressed in the script, but we're not really sure what the ethnic mix is in this fictional city. Whatever it is, Thandie Newton is going to be far less anonymous and forgettable than most forty-something women. And A & Es have cctv don't they?

I think her best plan of action is to publically fake an injury now which will justify a trip to hospital, and then tell a slightly different story to the doctors once she's there. As long as the colleagues and the medics don't discuss it with each other (and why should they?) she'll be fine. LOL, of course she's not going to be fine. You can never foresee what's going to happen on LOD, but I think I can confidently predict that the last episode will not feature Roz and Mr Roz curled up on the sofa with a bottle of wine and a Chinese takeaway menu saying "thank goodness that's all over with darling, shall we split a Peking Duck for starters?"

NotJanine · 13/04/2017 22:09

We are being led to believe that she was scratched by Tim who was trying to get her DNA under his fingermails, but she then chopped off his fingers.

But we don't know if any of that is true.

CoolCarrie · 13/04/2017 22:13

Why only the one hand?

Ceto · 14/04/2017 01:13

There could be any number of reasons why it's only one hand, but the most obvious answer is that that's all Tim could get hold of and dig his nails into.

Wouldn't a clued-up doctor be able to tell that the injury isn't a fresh wound?

Whywaitfortomorrow · 14/04/2017 02:08

LOD has form for characters getting up and carrying on as normal...I've started watching Series 1 again and it happened there. I think we've used that one up with Roz this time though.
It is interesting watching back and seeing how the twisted and unrelated plots come together. Lennie James is excellent as the DCI being investigated.
Prefer Kate with shorter hair.

buggerthebotox · 14/04/2017 07:26

I'm watching S1 again too. Lennie James is brilliant in it. It's so clever the way the characters are all woven in. In hindsight Hilton looks even more suspicious....

And yes, Kate looks better with short hair.

I love Gina McKee's performance too. Icy cold!

Whywaitfortomorrow · 14/04/2017 08:38

Yes I think there is more to come from Hilton. PR and numbers is what he seems to be about.

Elendon · 14/04/2017 09:11

Lennie James was excellent, a desperate man doing ever more desperate things. Denton stole the show for me in 2 and 3, just an outstanding performance by Keeley Hawes.

I too prefer Kate with short hair.

msrisotto · 14/04/2017 12:17

Wow! All credit to Martin Compson, having only seen him in LOD, that video of him with the scottish accent seems unreal! It felt like the wrong accent!

I hope his character survives, there aren't many repeat characters and he's a big part of the reason I watch.

hellooooooomama · 14/04/2017 15:26

So Keeley Hawes was possibly the reason I haven't watched this before. I'm really not a fan of hers but I can't articulate why.

I've never been a fan of Keeley Hawes either, but she's very watchable in this. She really draws you in to the character.

I've never liked Gina McKee much either, but was great as Jackie Laverty in LOD. even if she never seems to move her face.

TheHiphopopotamus · 14/04/2017 17:18

So Keeley Hawes was possibly the reason I haven't watched this before. I'm really not a fan of hers but I can't articulate why.

I said upthread that I didn't rate KH until I saw her in S2 of LoD. She's bloody brilliant in it though. She has you hating the character one minute and cheering her on the next. It's fantastic writing and an amazing performance from KH.

ActuallyThatsSUPREMECommander · 14/04/2017 17:24

Lindsay Denton is one of the greatest characters I've ever seen on TV. Shows up all other female characters for the 1.5 dimensional "feisty yet vulnerable" "strong but flawed" caricatures they are. She's so unlikeable but so real and understandable and by the end you're utterly on her side.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 14/04/2017 19:03

Lindsay Denton was brilliant.

Roz Huntley can only be her little chihuahua.

mugglebumthesecond · 14/04/2017 19:10

Denton bloody brilliantly character- the casting in all series absolutely spot on. In face series 2\3 some of the best characterisation I've ever seen!

Elendon · 14/04/2017 19:25

I like Roz Huntley. Have no idea what's going on in her mind. And that's exactly the character that is portrayed. She's obviously skating in the danger zone. Prepared to through others under the bus. Thandie Newton plays the character excellently.

Elendon · 14/04/2017 19:25

throw not through.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 14/04/2017 19:28

Huntley is cold hearted and calculating, but Denton was even more so.

Love the them both. And Kate.

hellooooooomama · 14/04/2017 20:52

Well you're all selling her to me very well! When there's nothing else on maybe I'll see if it's available for download.

buggerthebotox · 14/04/2017 22:08

It's on youtube, hellooooooo.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 14/04/2017 22:15

whoever was knocked down by that car in the first few seconds of the 1st episode survived enough to sit in the passenger seat and manage to get out - she was then stuffed in the boot - tied up in a burning house and survived it all - well she might not have done since we don't know who it is, but she definitely survived that brutal crash

@Catrina1234
We do know who that is, it's Hana, the waitress who offered cleaning services to Ilfield when he visited the cafe, and who has now been found to have linens with his DNA present, in her flat. £5000 cash found in her flat too. Alleged to be working as a prostitute and interviewed by Police as a suspect now as well as the victim from episode 1. She's been very resilient.

Whywaitfortomorrow · 15/04/2017 00:26

Quite a few balaclava wearing, baseball bat wielding types in S1. Just watched last episode. Odd scene with Hilton and suspect which makes me now believe he is definitely going to be up to something in S4.
