Personally I don't think the balaclava man who attacked Steve is Ros's husband. So who else knew he was there? When they trace husbands vehicle reg to his car Maneet shows it to new cop Jamie (James?Jimmy?) and says I've got some important info for Steve. Could he be the Jimmy referred to by Ros's husband (not a solicitor i know!) and hes then alerted someone?? Typing this out it doesn't make much sense (or add to anything at all) but I'm at a loss! (and hoping new cop has been brought in because he's a crook rather than as a series replacement for Steve!)

MarilynWhirlwindRocks · 10/04/2017 17:14

Anyone else suspect Jodie was Head Prefect at school?

millifiori · 10/04/2017 17:16

Some local surplus store is doing a roaring trade in balaclavas and padded black cropped jackets. Rapist, Ifield and now Steve's batterer, all in same gear.

millifiori · 10/04/2017 17:17

Marilyn :) I love Jodie. She's so believably earnest and boss-sucking. Great acting.

Marmalade85 · 10/04/2017 17:22

Was the killer the security guard?

Ollycat · 10/04/2017 17:24

Anyone else suspect Jodie was Head Prefect at school?

I see her more as someone who lost out to the "top job" at school and so has spent all her efforts since proving that she'd have been the best choice for Head Girl.

ElspethFlashman · 10/04/2017 17:31

I wonder when Jodie is going to start getting suspicious? She had a wee wobble when she was asked to charge Hanna but that cleared away when they found the burner phone.

I'd love to see her cracking.

I also think she'd make a really good addition to AC12 next year. That righteous clear eyed look.

ButtonMooooon · 10/04/2017 17:45

Motherinferior can you ask him if Steve is dead? Wink

Slightlyperturbedowlagain · 10/04/2017 17:46

Yes me too Grin

MarilynWhirlwindRocks · 10/04/2017 18:00

milli,

Her expression of ecstasy when Roz hinted they should discuss career advancement over a drink Grin

IIRC, that seemed in 'reward' for her conveniently witnessing (or was she sent to witness?) Kate investigating the 13/ 30 blood spatter mislabelling at Forensics Office?

Roz will no doubt pull in a huge favour from Jodie sooner or later.
And she'll be utterly torn: being thought a lifesaver by her boss idol vs proving her morally upright DCness instead.

Good point, Ollycat...yes, that might well explain her above and beyond eagerness.

Whywaitfortomorrow · 10/04/2017 18:08

A few things...
"I'm coming in" text was going to be sent to Farida, the PC sitting in with Kate interviewing new witness Melanie. You can see name at top of text.
I agree that all of that could have been set up...appeal for witnesses, someone conveniently comes forward, etc. Makes case against Farmer stronger. Good for Roz.

When Steve first visits Nick, Nick immediately starts to defend himself. Maybe that's the lawyer in him. He could have said anything about that night and then clarified at a proper interview. But immediately mentions compellabikity of spouse statement. Bit odd.

When he asks Roz about Arnott, he says "What have you done?" - does this imply she has done something before ? When she answers him with a final "I was working" it feels like she is using a line he has said to her in the past. Like she knows what he has been up to.

LOD always blurs the line between good people doing wrong things for supposedly right reasons and right things for wrong reason.

What if Roz discovered Nick is the murderer and couldn't bring herself to bring him in as it would undermine everything she has ever worked towards. Now all spiralling out of control as she tries to cover his tracks.

ktel1 · 10/04/2017 18:14

I wanted to post about something I read but think it may be considered a spoiler by some.

It is really only speculation/deduction on my part but I think it's best I don't post it here.

Is there any way to post/hide spoilers here or would there be any value in starting a new thread for this ?

ButtonMooooon · 10/04/2017 18:32

Ktel1 it really depends on what it is. I personally don't watch any "coming up next week" trailers, I stick my fingers in my ears and run away if necessary Grin

But someone has posted something upthread which I class as a spoiler. You could do a link to it warning there's a spoiler but then you can't stop others discussing it!

I don't know is the short answer Wink

Ferrisday · 10/04/2017 18:51

I posted a BBC trailer- is that a spoiler?

I think anything that's officially out there is ok to post , but I think I got into trouble about this on another forum
Not sure now
I thought that everyone posting their theories and finding snippets of info was ok

TheHiphopopotamus · 10/04/2017 18:56

I think the trailers are part and parcel tbh, but someone upthread got their arse handed to them for discussing a trailer. I wouldn't class a trailer as a spoiler though, personally.

ButtonMooooon · 10/04/2017 19:16

That was me, I wouldn't say I handed her arse to her, I just asked her not to post a spoiler Confused

hackmum · 10/04/2017 19:29

Rattata: "I think that that "Balaclava man" was sent to bump off Roz's husband not Steve - husband seemed to be alone in the building."

That's quite an interesting idea - and would explain why they were making such a fuss about Huntley moving offices from fifth to third floor. Perhaps the attacker was expecting to see him on the third floor.

I like the various other theories about Roz setting up Hana's kidnap and so on and about Roz realising from the footprint that her husband was balaclava man - though I'm still sort of hoping that her husband isn't balaclava man.

DP thinks Steve is still alive. He says that in plot terms it makes no sense to kill him at this stage in the series - it's much more interesting if he's knocked unconscious, unable to say what's happened, but wakes up at some point to reveal some crucial piece of info. And then recovers in time for the next series. I quite like that. (I had been convinced he was dead, but only because he wasn't listed on IMDB - I hadn't realised that the programme makers would deliberately limit the info they give to IMDB to avoid spoilers.)

Ferrisday · 10/04/2017 19:33

Yes- Rattata-your idea that the balaclava man is sent to deal with Husband makes sense
He is especially nervous for just the alibi.
It's him that's in with the bad crowd

KenDoddsDadsDog · 10/04/2017 19:41

That could be spot on Rattata.

MILLYmo0se · 10/04/2017 19:49

Are we all sure the beating-Steve-up-balaclava-man and spotted-on CCTV-balaclava man in episode 1 are the same person? Could there be a few people involved?

diddl · 10/04/2017 20:16

"We find Tim's killer we crack the case"

No shit Sherlock!

Slightlyperturbedowlagain · 10/04/2017 20:21

I'm astonished no one had looked for a car on CCTV images much earlier in the process (being the 'armchair expert' that I am Grin )

buggerthebotox · 10/04/2017 21:24

I thought that, too, slightly.

ktel1 · 10/04/2017 22:03

I won't post the information I read.

It's an interview with one of the cast members from last month that refers to one of the upcoming episodes in the series.

If anyone is interested in learning more they can google it.

Sorry to be so opaque lol

hackmum · 10/04/2017 22:12

Thanks, ktel1 - found it.
