It's so it can't be searched for. It's why Roz didn't find it originally until she went back and looked for something else.

Slightlyperturbedowlagain · 12/04/2017 20:15

I have had 'a thought'. What if the original abduction cases weren't actually linked to Hana's abduction, but the sex crime/gang whatever she's mixed up in used the same MO to abduct and kill Hana to get rid of her for some reason (but she was saved before she got killed). If Tim is involved in the sex ring thing then he would have known the details of the case and could have been balaclava man for Hana's abduction and framed Farmer for it.

CoolCarrie · 12/04/2017 20:32

The fact that Hana was knocked down, then abducted, when the other women weren't, is odd, or maybe they were, I don't think the MO of the killer/killers has really been explained, or maybe I missed that, and she wasn't raped, so what is the motive for the murders?
Could it be that Hana was always going to be the target and the other victims are camouflage?

Slightlyperturbedowlagain · 12/04/2017 20:34

Could be, that's a good theory too. I honestly (and slightly sadly Grin) can't wait for the next episode

buggerthebotox · 12/04/2017 21:52

What's "repricocity"? Confused. Ted is always talking about zero repricocity, but I for one haven't a clue what he's on about.

ActuallyThatsSUPREMECommander · 12/04/2017 22:05

"Reciprocity" aka "you scratch my back I scratch yours". I can't remember Ted ever saying it though.

Whywaitfortomorrow · 12/04/2017 22:36

Ok so just another theory....what if everything is being revealed backwards....Jimmy Lakewell works for some dodgy types who are involved in prostitution racket of some sort and the murders of Baswinder and Leonie. They realise that one of the 'clients' is Nick Huntley who is married to a certain DCI Ros Huntley who is the SIO on the murder investigation. Bit wobbly here...can't decide whether she has had pressure put on her to save her husband or on him to get her to do something she would never normally do. Murders real but Hana kidnap was set up to lead to Michael Farmer. Farmer is then framed which Tim figures out but dies before he can do anything. Although he does get out and about in balaclava before his death just to cast doubt on Farmer who is locked up.
Maybe this is why Nick keeps telling Steve to speak to Lakewell. Nick hoping that Lakewell will do or say something to get Steve off his case. But Lakewell knows of Steve's rep and knows he won't stop until he gets to the truth hence doing away with him.
I don't think Steve coming back.
Not sure if higher powers involved like Hilton but wouldn't be surprised.
That's as far as I've got.

Whywaitfortomorrow · 12/04/2017 22:43

Just thought of a few holes in theory but am thinking how to fill them.

Purpleprickles · 12/04/2017 23:07

Actually Ted does love a bit of repriocity, he said it on Sunday but I can't remember who to.

Still so many days to go... I phoned my mum tonight and she said "hang on my friends just texting me about Line of Duty" Grin Mum are you on this thread somewhere?

Slightlyperturbedowlagain · 12/04/2017 23:13

Blimey I'm loosing track now, (know I shouldn't have watched Hinterland in between- they need AC12 there desperately) haven't been so confused since River and Unforgotten were scheduled over the same weeks last year Shock

Whywaitfortomorrow · 12/04/2017 23:27

Ted stated 'zero reciprocity' when he spoke to Hilton about getting all evidence from Roz's office.
When he went in there looking all masterful Blush

CoolCarrie · 13/04/2017 08:02

Could there be a link with the Carly Kirk case at all? A wee nod back to Lindsay Denton?

ActuallyThatsSUPREMECommander · 13/04/2017 08:30

They repeatedly promised that this series would be more or less standalone for new BBC 1 viewers.

Elendon · 13/04/2017 08:37

Have just caught up with the last two programmes. Certainly, Steve is not going to be doing much detective work if he recovers from that fall. Plus he'll probably be put into an induced coma so can't give any evidence. I've been watching series one and two whilst internet was down (moved house) and I too wondered if there was a link with Carly's death, the MO being similar.

A lot can happen though in the meantime.

ActuallyThatsSUPREMECommander · 13/04/2017 08:39

However as a longtime LOD fan I would laugh my tits off if they suddenly found Jackie Lafferty's corpse in Ifield's freezer and all the new viewers were utterly baffled. Series 2 was shown about 18 months after series 1, which hadn't been repeated. All the indications were that this was going to be a standalone series just with the same investigating team, and then suddenly they revealed in episode 3 that the target of the hit was Tommy from the first series and we were all "oh hell!" and dashed to Wikipedia to remind ourselves.

diddl · 13/04/2017 09:14

"but Martin Compston is Scottish so hard headed! "

Sadly not his character though.

buggerthebotox · 13/04/2017 09:42

I was thinking of nods to previous cases, too, cool. Sadly I don't think Denton is going to rise from the dead (although that would be a good Easter connection). However there's an "amputated fingers" nod to Series 1 where those corpses found on the Bog had their fingers amputated (can't remember why though, atm).

Was Laverty's body ever found? I remember it being carted around from freezer to freezer but was she actually identified (need to watch S1 again).

buggerthebotox · 13/04/2017 09:43

Sorry, was that too spoilery for those who haven't watched previous series? BlushShock.

CoolCarrie · 13/04/2017 12:09

No her body wasn't found

CauliflowerSqueeze · 13/04/2017 12:29

Martin Compson does a southern accent really well considering this is his normal accent.

toldmywrath · 13/04/2017 16:10

I saw Martin Compson playing the part of Peter Manuel in "In Plain Sight" a Scottish serial murderer. Very creepy and I agree that his English accent is Spot on.

Whywaitfortomorrow · 13/04/2017 17:01

Passed the halfway mark for this week's wait for next episode Smile

Cauliflower, hadn't heard MC Scottish accent before. His English accent sounds alright to me.

Elendon · 13/04/2017 17:05

Spoiler Alert for Series Two

No Laverty's body was on the missing person's list along with Carly and that's all I'm saying (it was passed over). (Series two and I really haven't given anything away).

CoolCarrie · 13/04/2017 17:10

On YouTube there is a clip of Tim's murder crime scene, which points out that the only blood found was the smear on the side of work top, which was Roz's. It is done from the point of view of a CSI officer.

Catrina1234 · 13/04/2017 19:21

I'm no good at following plots so ignore me.................but people seem fairly sure that Steve won't survive his injuries but whoever was knocked down by that car in the first few seconds of the 1st episode survived enough to sit in the passenger seat and manage to get out - she was then stuffed in the boot - tied up in a burning house and survived it all - well she might not have done since we don't know who it is, but she definitely survived that brutal crash.....................and then we've got DCI Roz calmly opening her eyes after presumably being knocked out, showing not the slightest shock at someone in a white suit with a saw over her body - happens all the time doesn't it, SO I reckon there's every chance that Steve will pick himself up, dust himself off and carry on.........

God I dunno who is the victim and who is the culprit(s) oh does anyone have a theory about how Roz got the nasty wrist injury that doesn't seem to be healing and she clearly can't/won't get medical help.
