Is anyone watching this? I think im going to end up hooked!

OP posts:

A shaky hand is an easy way to suggest Parkinsons. Bit lazy, it's far more complicated than being shaky.
I agree about the sex scene. It was dropped in with no real meaning

Optimist1 · 08/09/2016 08:47

Sorry to bring that sex scene to your minds again, but I'm right in saying it was Grace's mum and the blackmailing farm hand? Not Ade and new wife? I think I was so taken aback by its suddenness and unloveliness that I didn't properly register who the participants were! Shock

Merrylegs · 08/09/2016 09:25

I missed that scene because the dog wanted to go out BUT I also missed the scene where Ade dies because the dog sat on the remote and changed the channel (I thunk he's trying to tell me something) anyways...did Ade step in front of a car or what? I'm sorry he was written out so quickly - the rural lot were getting v tedious and he added another dimension. He should do more serious acting actually, I.like him.

bumpetybumpbumpbump · 08/09/2016 10:36

Ha ha yes it was those too bonking on the bed Confused

Optimist1 · 08/09/2016 10:45

Thanks, bumpety (very apt name, given the scene I was asking about!).

Merry - Ade called his daughter back to say that he remembered that Adam had loved a Beatles song (Day in the Life?) and to admit that he'd been a poor father, then stepped out into the road and got run over. It was an artic lorry, if I remember correctly, but I don't suppose the type of vehicle is really important. Agree that we didn't see enough of him.

eddiemairswife · 08/09/2016 10:50

I missed Ade being run over. I can't think how. I have no remote-sitting dog. I somehow thought he had drowned himself. Iplayer here I come.

Merrylegs · 08/09/2016 11:51

Ah thank you for filling me in. I'm guessing Ade never told Grace why he was coming up to see her - because that would be the obvious thing. Perhaps Eric hasn't got Parkinson's but tricked his kids into having the blood test as he had doubts about paternity. (Hence why he never told his wife coz she would be suspicious). Perhaps they are drug tremors? He does seem to be a bit clueless about Parkinson's 'I'm dying!' Um. Well not yet you're not.

NotPennysBoat · 09/09/2016 21:09

Finally managed to watch episode 3, and got a great theory!

What if the farmhand is Grace's Dad....AND Adam's Dad?!? Cantona found out due to Parkinson's test, told Adam hence 'you're going to hell'!

Having said all that, there are still too many names in the hat for the Grace/Adam murder, and the druggie murder (although my money is on Anna for the latter).
Looking forward to the last episode! I hope it doesn't leave any questions unanswered!

TheNorthWestPawsage · 09/09/2016 22:22

Also late to the party again and now I'm really confused! I thought Ade was going to turn out to be a "bad 'un" and behind it all - but that now doesn't seem to be the case. Although there have been hints that he may have (unwittingly) been the catalyst for the murders. The drugs have got to be the link surely? I'm totally gripped but apparently also totally clueless Grin

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/09/2016 16:16

Just seen 3

Totally confused

Doesn't take much 😬😬

Clawdy · 10/09/2016 18:27

NotPennysboat if your theory about farmhand being father of Grace and Adam is right.....maybe Adam could not face life being married to his sister and bringing up a child who could have genetic problems, so decided to end their lives. On the other hand I really can't imagine posh Juliet Stephenson fancying Billy Elliot's dad.......

timelytess · 11/09/2016 21:41

Watched all three. I think Grace and Adam were half-brother and sister. Adam knew, Grace didn't, Grace's dad did.
The rape victim killed the killer.
Grace's dad paid the killer to kill Grace and Adam, due to his religious beliefs and their relationship being incestuous. The killer had the postcode to get to him for the second installment of the payment - the one after the murder had been committed.
Astounded by the cheek of the farm man, screwing the wife and blackmailing the husband.
Will nursey find out that her boyfriend is actually the creepy kid next door?
The absentee dad killed himself because he couldn't cope, maybe he knew his missus had screwed beardy dad and ran away because he couldn't face the consequences of 'his' son marrying the half-sister.

hollyisalovelyname · 12/09/2016 07:03

You could be right TimelyTess Smile

RedCrab · 12/09/2016 09:23

It's a rather brutal way to handle things - kill your daughter and granddaughter rather than expose an affair Shock

timelytess · 12/09/2016 13:09

It isn't the affair, its the incestuous relationship and the child from that. And the sin. Everyone in that scenario is going to hell. The dad started it so he finishes it. It was his sin and it was visited upon the children. Religion doesn't take account of modern-day sensitivities.

I am willing to be quite wrong. I usually am.

But whatever the solution, I think the whole thing was very 'dark'. None the worse for that, but the product of dark-thinking minds. :)

AnnieNoMouse · 12/09/2016 14:42

Will nursey find out that her boyfriend is actually the creepy kid next door?
Interesting theory. It explains how the boy has access to her FB messages. On the other hand it only works if Clare has only ever known Sam online and not in RL- is that the case do we know?

Thinking about Cantona being Adam's father rather than Mr Elliott being Grace's dad. I think if it was that way round both Cantona and Juliette S would have taken steps a long time ago to try to not have the two of them marrying. They would have seen the signs of romance and tried to tackle it a lot sooner.
However, we know that Cantona spoke to Adam at the wedding. That supports the theory that he had only just found out about Grace not being his; and that the reason he had only just found out was he'd only just had the result of the "tests" that Grace and Jamie had for Parkinsons. He made the wrong assumption that Ade Edmonson was the dad, not Mr Elliott.

So I agree it's looking likely he he arranged the hit on Adam, but it all went wrong and the burglar killed Grace too. And now I think he killed the burglar.

Re Parkinsons - I appreciate you can't get tested for it, but I'm applying the SW's logic here. Grin

RedCrab · 12/09/2016 18:38

Ok yes incest as well and the baby, forgot to add that to the equation but even so. Kill your daughter rather than just break her heart with the truth??

RedCrab · 12/09/2016 19:19

Sorry timelytess it sounds like I am singling you out Grin I was just thinking within the world of the show, it's such an extreme solution even with everything considered. Clearly thinking too much about it.

timelytess · 12/09/2016 23:01

Not arsed, RedCrab, single me out if you like. If people will kill their daughters for family 'honour', why not for their eternal souls?

ParanoidGynodroid · 13/09/2016 01:22

Hmm, I thought Adam and his family only moved there well after he was born? They all have English accents. So he couldn't be half siblings with Grace. Unless I'm mistaken. Which is likely.

hollyisalovelyname · 13/09/2016 07:19

Good point Paranoid

Clawdy · 13/09/2016 08:42

Yes, it is very unlikely farmhand is Adam's father,as I said earlier Juliet Stephenson 's character is far too posh to have looked at him! And I can't believe Grace's dad would want her dead. So I haven't a clue! Just feel that the dead criminal did not kill them, and that Juliet S killed him in the barn. Looking forward to the last episode, hope it's not a disappointment.

timelytess · 13/09/2016 16:23

Won't be long before I find out how wrong I am. Happily, I'm used to it so it won't come as a surprise.

hollyisalovelyname · 13/09/2016 16:52

Looking forward to it tonight.
I hope the telly won't break down or the recorder implode.

ParanoidGynodroid · 13/09/2016 17:46

Ah, but being wrong is nice when it comes to these sorts of things, timelytess - it means you're in for a thrilling surprise at the big reveal!

Yes, there's the who 'dun' both lots of murders, what was going on with Ade, the detective and her drugs, and all the family shenanigans to find out about tonight. Hope it won't all be a big damp squid. Smile
