Yes, I watched Victoria on itv player this morning. There's no Jamie or Ross to perv over enjoy watching.

Sunnymeg · 04/09/2016 16:13

To be honest I haven't agreed with a lot of the casting, but as long as they make a decent job playing the character I'm prepared to go along with it. I went to an Outlandish event earlier in the year and was amazed and unprepared for the level of fandom exhibited.

Lessstressedhemum · 04/09/2016 16:55

I think some of the casting has been quite random, really. Lord Lovat, for instance, must have been about 6"7, whereas in the book, he's a short, squat bloke. Brianna has nowhere near the physical presence required to carry off her storyline. If I wanted to split hairs CB is far too tall and not curly enough, Angus Mor was far too wee, Murtagh to tall and not ugly enough. Sam is just about perfect, he IS Jamie Fraser, though. But where do you draw the line?

Films/TV programmes are never exactly like the books, as long as they make a decent fist of it, where's the problem? I'm not that bothered about it that I would feel the need to make an issue, tbh. I can't come to grips with the whole freaky stalkery that goes on and I'm a pathetic fan girl.

snozzlemaid · 04/09/2016 17:48

The only casting I've been disappointed in is Jamie's father. Thankfully he was a very small part, but I just felt he wasn't tall enough or have enough presence about him to be Brian. He looked too insignificant to have fathered Jamie.

Lessstressedhemum · 04/09/2016 18:09

Aye, Brian wasn't imposing enough. In the books, he has a lot of presence, which I felt he didn't have. Although at least half of Jamie's awesomeness comes from his mother, who was pushing 6 feet and fire haired. Brian would have to have been some man to complement Ellen.

Drywhitethanks · 05/09/2016 21:30

The Lord John actor couldn't be William, he's supposed to be the spit of Jamie Confused

I think Jenny is spot on too.

The others I don't mind about. love TV Murtagh, Claire etc. think book Rihanna is a bit scary looking, too tall so hope SS will do a good job" the writers and casting people are so good I'm sure future series will be great.Just hope they get Ian right.

Watching Podark last night, realised that the sex scene lacked any chemistry whatsoever ....both beautiful people and sweet together but not the phwaaaarrrrrr factor technical term of SH and CB who have incredible/believable chemistry.

Snozzle reckon I'll finish book 6 tonight but back to work so the pace will slow down Sad

Lessstressedhemum · 06/09/2016 08:47

That's what I thought, dry, but a hoard of crazy woman seem to think that he is the double of Sam!

Lessstressedhemum · 06/09/2016 11:12

Haven't seen Poldark, yet. I'm rewatching season 1 for DD's benefit. She won't let me watch S2 until she has seen 1 in its entirety. She has a relatively new appreciation for aiden turner after watching the Shadowhunters film and some of Being Human. You know what 17 year old girls are like.

She has also banned me from rewatching Outlander and has threatened to confiscate my Kindle and tablet if i "don't stop being pathetic!" I would never have dared speak to my mother like that. Although I have no memory of my mother openly letching over on screen hotties, except Ross Poldark in the 70s. Nothing changes there then.

snozzlemaid · 06/09/2016 16:35

I agree Dry, the kissing lacked something in Poldark. I think Outlander has ruined every other shows' sex scenes for me now. Very difficult to live up to that standard.
I've just passed page 1000 on book 6 so still some way to go. Did you enjoy it all. I've loved this one much more than 4 and 5.

Drywhitethanks · 06/09/2016 21:11

Less my teenagers refer to it as "your highlander thing" Hmm

Wish my DD would watch Poldark with me.

Poldark and Jamie twins? Hmm are they blind?

Snozzle I'm on 98%.....about 4 pages left, will finish 6 tonight and then onto 7 after double checking that Damelza and Ross scene again just to check the chemistry

Sunnymeg · 06/09/2016 21:57

In the original series of Poldark, Demelza was much more feisty and sparks flew between her and Ross in more ways than one. In the new version, they seem to be much blander. I know that this series is closer to the books, but I think their relationship lacks something.

JacquettaWoodville · 06/09/2016 22:49

Less, did your DD see Aidan Turner in And Then There Were None.?

To quote Monica from Friends.... humana Humana Humana!

Drywhitethanks · 06/09/2016 22:50

Although watching the trailer it might get better

Drywhitethanks · 06/09/2016 22:51

Just had a huge panic when I thought there was only one more Outlander book....will be lost when they are finished.
Lord J books any good?

JacquettaWoodville · 06/09/2016 22:56

Yes I am enjoying them!

gamerwidow · 07/09/2016 07:28

I really like the Lord John books. There's quite a bit of Jamie in the series too because it's set in the Helwater years.

snozzlemaid · 07/09/2016 07:53

I'm definitely moving on to LJG books when I've finished the Outlander series.

Lessstressedhemum · 07/09/2016 08:31

Lord John books are good. Much shorter, though. They give a good bit of insight into John and Jamie.

No, Jacquetta. I can't remember why we couldn't watch it, I remember seeing the trailer and thinking it looked fab, but then something happened. Will see if I can find it for us.

Dry, it's the lord John actor that the crazies think is that like jamie that he should be William! I don't know how they are going to manage to cast that rôle since he's supposed to be J's double. Sometimes I wish dd wouldn't watch with me. It means that I can't sneakily watch stuff on my tablet because then we would be out of step.

Drywhitethanks · 07/09/2016 21:33

Less I've watched all GoT with my DS, it's been out thing. Until episode 9 of this S6 when he wanted to watch Love Island. I couldn't wait , so sneakily watched on my iPad and then watched it again with him the next day pretending if not already seen it Confused

I reckon casting William will be ok, they'll just find a big ginger. SS didn't actually look much like SH but I'm sure it will work.

Lord J books next then. Is it odd not having Claire with J though?

JacquettaWoodville · 07/09/2016 22:23

Not really - it's like the parts of Voyager without her. And she's mentioned a few times.

Lessstressedhemum · 07/09/2016 22:33

You've got to love a great big ginger!

It's not really weird at all. She's mentioned regularly, anyway. Jamie dreams about her all the time, prays for her and talks to her. It's a shame really, it's that sad.

Drywhitethanks · 08/09/2016 06:51

Great then, that's my reading sorted for the next few months.

Really to think J and C deserve an all inclusive getaway ...the amount of trauma those two experience and I've still got 2 books to go!

gingerboy1912 · 08/09/2016 19:11

Can I just come on here and say I watched the final episode of series two last night. Shock the scene where they said goodbye at the stones I criedSad. I've got nobody to talk to about it Angry

Drywhitethanks · 08/09/2016 20:43

Ginger I'm still traumatised Sad Grin

gingerboy1912 · 08/09/2016 20:47

Me too. Sadjust glad they are filming series three.
