It's even more traumatic if after you've watched the last episode you rewatch the first episode of season 2, continuing the story of when Claire arrives back in the 1940's. It is hearbreaking to see the two parts together. A stunning performance from CB.

gamerwidow · 09/09/2016 15:10

Nice deleted scene on the internet today. www.buzzfeed.com/keelyflaherty/this-outlander-deleted-scene-will-break-your-heart?utm_term=.tfGmVMDL4#.uqkg2PEz3
They should have kept it in, the first half of the series needed more softer moments with J & C.

Snozzle I did that after you mentioned it before, Claire screaming after going through was heartbreaking.....can't watch it again.

gingerboy1912 · 09/09/2016 20:16

Does anyone else find that they get so involved in the characters and story that's it almost too hard to rewatch certain episodes or even series. Or is it just me? I get the same with some books as well Blush

snozzlemaid · 09/09/2016 20:45

Yes, i've only watched BJR torturing Jamie a couple of times whereas I've lost count of the number of times I've watched the rest of series 1.
I can't bear it. It breaks my heart.

Lessstressedhemum · 09/09/2016 23:31

So, that's us finished S1 of Poldark. More crying from me, more mockery from DD. Need to sneakily console myself with some happy bits of Outlander, now, before we start on S2 tomorrow.

I still love Jamie more than Ross, but AT is a fine specimen of manhood.

gamerwidow · 10/09/2016 09:59

I don't like Ross I think he's a bit of a shit. His supposed nobility and care for the common man is very self serving. His pride is more valuable to him then his family. You'd never get Jamie behaving like that Grin

Lessstressedhemum · 10/09/2016 10:53

No, you wouldn't. Again, I think parts of Ross are of his time, just like parts of Jamie's character. I never really warmed to book Ross, but then I was very young when I read them.

Jamie would give him a bleaching in a fight, thoughGrin

snozzlemaid · 10/09/2016 11:59

Jamie has ruined Ross for me.
I've loved Ross Poldark since I was very small and my mum watched the original series. Living in Cornwall it stuck with me and I read the books as a teenager and fell in love with him again. That love was well and truly reignited by AT but now no-one can live up to JAMMF.

gingerboy1912 · 10/09/2016 12:39

Jamie has ruined Ross for me.

^^this.
I was hoping Poldark would fill the Outlander hole in my heart but it's just not doing it.

Has anyone watched Preacher on Prime.?I watched the first episode last night but just found it odd!

snozzlemaid · 10/09/2016 12:57

Felt like some sort of confession saying that. Everyone knows how obsessed I have been with Poldark and I haven't admitted that to anyone IRL.
I tried Preacher too, but didn't get to the end of the first episode.
I find I'm just searching for another Jamie at the moment. I've been watching Breaking Bad with dp and he asked what I thought, as he loves it. I told him it was fine but it lacked a 'Jamie' character for me to fall in love with.

gamerwidow · 10/09/2016 13:02

I really liked preacher but it was a bit slow to start off with ( I do love comic book adaptations though)
I loved S1 of UnReal on Amazon (no good male characters it that though, all about the women).
There's no one else like J at the moment but I did love Hal from Being Human and Spike from buffy with equal intensity so I'm sure someone will come along eventually
Wink

gingerboy1912 · 10/09/2016 13:38

I love BB and think Brian Cranston is brilliant but as you say ii didn't have a Jamie character in it.

Vikings is good. Ragnor is no Jamie but he's still worth watching.

gingerboy1912 · 10/09/2016 13:40

Angel was my favourite in Buffy then the spin off Angel was good for the first few series then it just got ridiculous.

Drywhitethanks · 10/09/2016 14:18

Snozzle totally agree about Poldark loved the first series as a pre pubescent loved series 1 but that was before Outlander. Still think it's beautiful but no chemistry really.

Ginger Rollo in Vikings actually really does it for me.....almost as good as Jamie, will miss him .....desperate for next half of Vikings season 5/6 in October. Ragnar a complex character but not sexy at all.

I think Dg is great at characterisation. Her men are brilliant . I'm loving them all in the books.......

Have learnt a new word...."to guddle" cheeky Jamie, quite rude really.....DG doe use some odd words.......and there is a funny Scottish word for buttocks starting with h that made me chuckle Less will know it

Can you remind me....is the 16yr old who tried to stab Jamie while he was having a pee in series 1/2 Lord John Grey or his brother?

gamerwidow · 10/09/2016 16:22

It's LJG who tries to stab Jamie

Lessstressedhemum · 10/09/2016 17:19

The word your looking for is birdies. It's your hips. In Address to the Haggis, Burns describes said haggis as having g "birdies like a distant hill". It's a good Scots word.

Guddling is like when you tickle a fish from a river by sort of wiggling your fingers and hypnotising it. Otherwise a huddle is a mess or a confused situation. "I'm in a right guddle" said by me almost every day when I have tons to do and can't quite decide what I'm actually doing!

Lessstressedhemum · 10/09/2016 21:44

Not birdies, hurdies! Just noticed the autocorrect. My tablet does not like Scottish words.

Drywhitethanks · 11/09/2016 10:03

Hang on a minute....I'm on 'An Echo in the Bone' ....Roger is driving from Llalybroch near Inverness? to Oxford "a 4-5hr journey"! Hmm what's he driving? F1?

HELLLLOOOOOOO i'm back after what seems like ages! Sorry, life got in the way of pretty much everything. How is everyone these days? Will go back and re-read the last few posts.

I've finished all the Outlander books, and read the Scottish Prisoner. I'm strangely bereft and feeling that Poldark is not really working to fill the Jamie-shaped void.

Lessstressedhemum · 12/09/2016 08:20

Take my word for it, nothing will ever fill the Jamie shaped hole in your soul!

DG's grasp of geography is absolutely laughable, really. She obviously never looked at a map of Britain while writing., Either that or she doesn't understand scale very well. However, I can forgive that as long as I can pretend that I am Claire. Apparently, I am an unbelievably sad old woman with no life - so say the teenagers.

gamerwidow · 12/09/2016 09:19

Tbf if we can accept you can time travel through rocks then I think we can let other inaccuracies slide Grin

gingerboy1912 · 12/09/2016 20:05

Arrrh it's been five days since I finished watching series two and I'm still moping! Sad I hate this feeling. I was like after I finished Sons of Anarchy.
