No, I'm just about half way through. But I think it's my favourite so far apart from book one.
The others have all had sections/storylines that haven't interested me much, but I'm loving all of this one.

Lessstressedhemum · 27/08/2016 21:58

Sorry to disappoint, dry, but Ian doesn't marry Lizzie. She is involved in a hugely scandalous ménage a trois. Ian does eventually find some happiness, though you have to wait a while. His time with the Mohawk leaves him with scars.

Drywhitethanks · 28/08/2016 13:01

Ah Snozzle I'm catching you up, 10%in!!!! Great stuff......

Hemerroids? Hmm TMI DG!!!!!!!!!! Shock disgusting!

Less that's a shame about Lizzie and Ian, bet it's those twins isn't it ?

Wish I'd gone to the "Meet the Highlanders" convention going on this weekend, sounds a lot of fun. Imagine I'd have gone dressed as a highland cow, that would have got me noticed Grin

snozzlemaid · 28/08/2016 14:04

I've just been looking at pics of that Dry. I can't imagine how I'd feel being in a room with them all. The guy who plays Ian Murray is verra verra nice to look at isn't he? Much better with his own short hair.
Tickets have gone on sale for next year's event. I would love to go but don't know anyone IRL who is obsessed like me to go with. Also, I'm always afraid of looking like a crazy middle aged fan with these things.

Drywhitethanks · 28/08/2016 14:28

Oh yes me too, there is that.
Haven't seen pics yet

snozzlemaid · 28/08/2016 14:32

You need to get yourself on twitter. There are loads of photos.

Drywhitethanks · 28/08/2016 14:41

im on T, but where are you looking?

snozzlemaid · 28/08/2016 14:48

Search for #Highlanders for starters.
I follow loads of Outlander people and fans so they're posting lots too.

Drywhitethanks · 28/08/2016 16:08

Only following actors , will have a look thanks

snozzlemaid · 28/08/2016 17:05

Looks like Duncan did the Murtagh dance...

Will miss the Highlanders. Wonder how many went? I doubt the next one will be as good, it will be bigger and the Highlanders won't be there.
Have seen some pics. Don't think I'd have survived the group shot with all of them. Where to look/put hands? Grin and not look a prat?!!!!

JacquettaWoodville · 28/08/2016 17:25

Re Claire and pregnancy - I don't think she and Jamie are that fertile as a couple (it takes a while for her to get pregnant both times and of course it's not known until later that frank is the infertile one in that relationship). Then when she goes back, she's in her late forties and peri menopausal (various comments on hot flushes etc)

gamerwidow · 28/08/2016 17:48

Highlanders looks great and I think the stars who went have been great with the fans. I toyed with the idea of going but I'm far too much of an introvert to cope with the pressure of having to make eye contact with let alone speak to someone I'm a fan of Confused.
Also re Claire's pregnancies I don't think she's that infertile. She did get pregnant twice in three years which considering the length of time they're apart during that time due to illness, prison, war etc. Isn't bad. It can't be Jamie who's the problem because obviously he impregnated Geneva on his first go Hmm.
It's just as well Claire is starting the menopause when she goes back but even so they've been lucky that she didn't fall pregnant again.

snozzlemaid · 28/08/2016 17:57

I'm a real introvert too gamer but i surprised myself a couple of years ago when I was faced with a chance to speak to Aidan Turner. I've never gone up to a famous person and spoke to them before, but I knew it was a once in a lifetime opportunity so I forced myself to do it. Bet you could do it too.
I know what you mean dry about what to do in a photo with them. I'd no doubt look like a bloody idiot.

JacquettaWoodville · 28/08/2016 18:22

There's a lot of "first time babies" about, gamer.

gamerwidow · 28/08/2016 18:23

Very true I'd forgotten about her Smile

JacquettaWoodville · 28/08/2016 18:55

Mary McNab dodged a sperm bullet too!

JacquettaWoodville · 28/08/2016 19:48

I found this, which is very helpful - sorry if it has been linked before:

www.dgabaldon.de/html/timeline_1e.html

Looks like Claire was 50 when she went back. Took around 18 months for her to fall pregnant with Brianna after Faith was stillborn. I take the point about them being separated a fair bit but I think Claire wasn't super-fertile.

Lessstressedhemum · 29/08/2016 08:32

I can neither confirm or deny that, dry.

Claire was definitely relying a lot on her age to avoid pregnancy, but then she wasn't really trying g to avoid it to begin with, just in case J wanted another baby that he could see growing up. It was only later that he insisted that she take steps to prevent it, so she started taking the dauco seeds.

Sunnymeg · 29/08/2016 17:57

I thought that this thread would be red hot considering the news

www.eonline.com/news/790704/outlander-finds-its-lord-john-grey-meet-david-berry

David Berry {from Australia series A Place called Home, where he played a traumatised married homosexual} cast as Lord John.

snozzlemaid · 29/08/2016 18:01

I've just come on to have a look at what is being said about it. I don't know anything about him, but I have faith in the programme makers and look forward to seeing him in S3.

Drywhitethanks · 29/08/2016 19:10

Just seen this, he looks perfect ....happy.

Now for Young Ian............

Snozzle have had an upsetting/traumatic evening last night and day today with book 6, very moving.........

gamerwidow · 29/08/2016 20:00

I'm happy with the casting too. Looking forward to seeing what he does with the character.

Lessstressedhemum · 29/08/2016 20:01

Ooohhh!! Don't know him at all, but he certainly looks the part. He just needs his hair coloured and he will look almost exactly as I picture John grey.

snozzlemaid · 29/08/2016 20:22

It's traumatic Dry but so good isn't it? I couldn't stop reading one night when I read that.

DG definitely stepped up her game with book 6. I liked TFC but it was slow in parts. ABOSAA is pure joy to read. Gripping and traumatic with lots if beautiful bits of interaction between J & C.
