Loving this programme. I wasn't quite clear on the ending of episode 8 - did the key come from the trouser pocket of Andri's FIL? (I first thought it was the ex wife's boyfriend.)

If the FIL originally burned down the factory (not knowing his daughter was inside) that would make sense of his unresolved anger... and the bit where Hjörtur said he didn't burn down the factory, and the FIL says "I know".

Happyrouter · 09/03/2016 15:56

Yes FILs pocket.

It's an interesting idea about FIL being involved in the original fire, but then what would his motive be for killing the mayor?

CurrerBell · 09/03/2016 16:31

Happyrouter I think I misread your previous comment and thought you said the FIL was involved in setting the factory fire. It is a good theory that he knows the mayor was involved (or recently found out)... burning Hrafn to death in revenge for the daughter's death would make sense.

There was a comment that the killer of the dead decapitated man was "not strong" which made me think it may be a woman... Hrafn's wife perhaps?

Happyrouter · 09/03/2016 17:07

Ooh oh yes, his wife!! She was quite threatening to the bald man in that scene when he was leaving and she said their town would get the port no matter what!

Happyrouter · 09/03/2016 17:08

P.s. think the FIL only realised the mayor was invoked in the fire when he saw the police report that Andri showed him.

Loving this so much. On a side note, we were in Reykjavik just before Christmas and stayed at the coolest (in terms of style, not temperature) hotel ever: Icelandair Marina Hotel. It was like being inside a copy of Elle Decoration, quite cheap too.

RomComPhooey · 09/03/2016 18:32

Top tip Mrs Fring!

glamorousgrandmother · 09/03/2016 18:33

Do you have to shower naked in communal showers (shower gel provided) BEFORE you put your bathers on & go in at Blue Lagoon like every other public swimming pool in Iceland?
I haven't watched the last episode so I've skipped ahead in this thread. Yes, you do have to wash naked before you put your bathers on. The changing rooms are single sex but the cubicles are open to make sure you wash properly - there are diagrams showing you which areas to pay special attention to! The Blue Lagoon itself was absolutely amazing and I would recommend anyone to go.

Also, in Reykjavic the streets in the city centre have underfloor heating from the geothermal hot springs so you don't have to wade through the snow.

RomComPhooey · 09/03/2016 18:39

Yep, same at all the other pools we went to.

WRT the heated pavements, the young guy at the geothermal power plant we went to told us that newer houses have heated parking spaces and front paths. They use the heated water that goes through the central heating which has cooled too much to heat the house, but is a lot warmer than outside. Same for the pavements in Reykjavik.

I'm so pleased I found this - I thought the key fell out of Andri exwifes new boyfriends trousers not the father in law.

I am really struggling to remember anyones's name so get confused a lot when people are mentioned

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 11/03/2016 14:50

There's a nice wee review of the 'suspects' on this site (and a lovely wind/snow swept Andri Wink): thekillingtimestv.wordpress.com/2016/03/09/trapped-finale-a-review-of-the-suspects/#more-4099

MissWimpyDimple · 12/03/2016 15:05

Disproportionately excited for tonight. SmileGrin

AuntieMaggie · 12/03/2016 15:38

Wasn't there a conversation between the guy who jumped out of the helicopter and his wife about 'cleaning up' where she said her young bit would help?

helzapoppin2 · 12/03/2016 17:09

Will the ferry ever sail?
Who is Maggi's long lost dad?
Will Andri find true happiness and finish that house?
Will Hinrika ever unfurrow her brow?
Does the hotelier have any jackets that aren't mustard coloured?
Who is the late mayor's wife consoling herself with?
We need to know!

RomComPhooey · 12/03/2016 17:18

Didn't the ferry sail (with a new captain) last week?

RomComPhooey · 12/03/2016 17:19

PS Am really enjoying Occupied, which is currently available on Sky on Demand and airing (up to ep9) on Sky Arts.

Happyrouter · 12/03/2016 17:22

"Will Hinrika ever unfurrow her brow?"

Ha ha, I made this same comment to my husband last week 😄

helzapoppin2 · 12/03/2016 17:29

Hinrika is so cute, especially when she speaks English!

flightywoman · 12/03/2016 17:41

I am so looking forward to tonight! And once we know I wonder if it will become obvious that there were clues scattered through each episode? Apparently Broadchurch had clues but I only ever spotted a couple of them.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 12/03/2016 17:46

So excited! The DCs have been running about in the fresh air all day, so I'm hoping they'll both be out like lights tonight hope to fuck I've not jinxed it so DH and I can watch in peace!

Istrianlover · 12/03/2016 18:06

Snacks drinks, fire, all ready can't wait 😄

CustardLover · 12/03/2016 21:04

So excited!

RomComPhooey · 12/03/2016 21:41

Poor Andri! Sad Anyone else wondering if Eirikur partly wanted to be caught? It occurred to me when Andri asked why he hadn't thrown away the key.

RomComPhooey · 12/03/2016 21:50

I love how they actually dug the car out more or less in real time, and the whole hunting around for the right snowed in car.

Well, at least the Maggi/father thing is resolved now. I wonder what else there is to know.

RomComPhooey · 12/03/2016 21:51

I should have said, it came across like good, solid police procedural - process of elimination stuff. You wouldn't get anything that honest in a slick US cop show.
