feel cold after 1st episode.
nice interiors (apart from the police station).

NewYearSameMe · 12/03/2016 22:26

Don't they usually have some something that would prevent people being accidentally locked into a freezer unit?

RomComPhooey · 12/03/2016 22:28

Maybe. But perhaps Leifur has overridden it. It's convincingly cold.

RomComPhooey · 12/03/2016 22:33

So, it started at the fish factory and it's ending at the fish factory....

helzapoppin2 · 12/03/2016 22:40

Well!

RomComPhooey · 12/03/2016 22:40

Quite!

NewYearSameMe · 12/03/2016 22:43

I like the wind-down at the end, that's unusual for a crime drama. It wasn't at all who I thought it was going to be in the end.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 12/03/2016 22:47

Oooooooooooh, that was satisfying Grin and still enough delicious little details left for a second series

Some absolutely beautiful shots in these episodes, especially with Erikur in the dark cell, and Andri in the light cell.

Love, love, love Hinrika. What a woman.

But not quite as much as I love Andri, that beautiful bear Wink

helzapoppin2 · 12/03/2016 22:48

I reckon half the town's in prison now, so it will be significantly quieter.

MissWimpyDimple · 12/03/2016 22:54

Just brilliant. So well acted and written. The camera work too. Fantastic.

Really hope there is another series.

NewYearSameMe · 12/03/2016 22:54

I'm still a bit confused by the dark-haired women though. I have managed to differentiate between Kolbrun (Hrafn's wife) and Aldis (Sigurdur's wife), but I am confused between Aldis and Laufey (mother of the blonde girl that Hjortur is dating), I think they may be sisters. Was it Laufey who works in the school, and was she the one shagging the young janitor? I thought Aldis seemed rather too fond of her husband to be shagging around.

Also, who was Kolbrun in bed with when she got the phone call?

Istrianlover · 12/03/2016 22:57

Did anyone else cheer when Andri put his gloves on

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 12/03/2016 22:59

There was the hat too! I liked his hat....but the jacket was still annoying me. I'd have had that zipped in seconds.

NewYearSameMe · 12/03/2016 23:01

I didn't think it was cold enough for gloves tbh. There was some liquid water on the ground in those last two episodes so it was only around freezing, I wouldn't wear gloves or a hat at that temperature unless I was going to be standing still for a long time.

I did wonder why they don't wear grippier shoes. They were all slipping all over the place every time they walked over compacted snow.

SmellySourdough · 12/03/2016 23:01

I might have something in my eye...
so very well made.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 12/03/2016 23:03

I loved that final shot of Andri walking away and slipping and sliding over the ice, I think it would have been a bit odd if he was striding confidently away, it just seemed apt.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 12/03/2016 23:23

Bollocks. According to the Guardian I missed the jacket zipping - we still maintain it was flapping for most of the episode or just totally unobservant
www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2016/mar/12/trapped-the-finale-review-gruelling-bleak-and-breathlessly-brilliant

RomComPhooey · 12/03/2016 23:24

I noticed in the deep freeze room at the fish factory that Andri finally had his coat zipped up & I thought: "I hope all the MNers watching this have noticed that Andri has done his coat up this time."

Having been in the very far north in winter, I can confirm that the moisture from your breath does freeze onto your hair - fortunately for me it, was only my head hair as I did not have a beard... Andri looked very cold in that scene.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 12/03/2016 23:35

I did say to DH that I bet Andri as a child (fictional child, I know, but probably applies to Ólafur Darri Ólafsson too, from what I've read) was forever coming home from school without his gloves, or a scarf, or something like that. DH thinks there was a little name tag sewed in his hat by his MIL.

I think we're a smidge over-invested Blush

CurrerBell · 12/03/2016 23:36

Brilliant... so well done.

Great how it all tied together, and it felt realistic (rather than having the plot based around a kind of super-human serial killer).

But poor Andri!

RomComPhooey · 12/03/2016 23:40

Great how it all tied together, and it felt realistic

Yes, it was mostly down to the basic worst and most atavistic bits of humanity: greed, sexual violence and revenge. It was good that individually each crime was believable, but collectively they made for such a rich stew of intrigue.

smugmumofboys · 13/03/2016 00:01

Just caught up.

Loved it. So understated and brilliantly acted. Iceland is on next year's places to visit list. (We're off to Copenhagen in May thanks to the Killing et al.)

But the end, poor Andri, wandering off forlornly all on his lonesome. Sad

NewYearSameMe · 13/03/2016 11:07

I think someone should set him up on a date with Laufey, she seemed kind and resilient, not as needy as his ex-wife (but only if it wasn't her shagging the janitor, Andri doesn't need more complication).

glamorousgrandmother · 13/03/2016 11:11

Also, who was Kolbrun in bed with when she got the phone call?
I think it was Leifur.

I was wondering how Laufey fitted in, I didn't realise she was Hjortur's girlfriend's Mum. She looked quite young. I hope little Maggi is happy there - his poor little face!!! Sad

NewYearSameMe · 13/03/2016 11:28

I know, poor Maggi. As far as I could tell his only two living relatives were his mother and his grandfather and they were both arrested on the same day. I really hope his mother gets a light sentence, the most fatal blow (to the heart) was not deliberate as he fell on her and the knife.

DiscordiaVanDiemen · 13/03/2016 11:42

Laufey is Agnes' sister and Johanna's mother (so she's Andri's sister in law)
She's not the mother of Hjotur's girlfriend.
