Ferry cheaper than flying I guess, though takes much longer.

Have caught up now, just in time for the next two episodes.

ouryve · 19/02/2016 23:02

Need to catch up, now. Last leg just finishing!

Sotaku · 19/02/2016 23:21

Why oh why did I spot this thread. That's another Scandi programme I'll be watching. Smile. It's bad enough I find myself saying "fan" instead of other swear words. I think I'm watching too much telly since we started getting all these brilliant foreign series.

CoffeeAndOranges · 20/02/2016 15:33

Love this! Like others, it reminded me of Fortitude (before it got really daft). Also good to be able to play a bit of 'Nordic noir bingo' by spotting Nanna Birk Larsen's dad.

We went to Iceland 2 years ago and loved it- nearly got snowed in to a mountain hut (we were there with a tour), it was great.

Bit hard to follow, might have to watch again.

Poor Maggi...

thenightsky · 20/02/2016 20:18

Another 2 episodes back to back tonight!!!

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 20/02/2016 20:36

So excited for this tonight! DH and I were utterly hooked within about 5 minutes last week, he's counting the minutes now we've even put on chunky jumpers so practically Icelandic

SmallGreenBouncyBall · 20/02/2016 21:12

I'm surprised how harsh icelandic sounds. I have an icelandic colleague and their english is very soft, a bit like a danish accent.

Travelledtheworld · 20/02/2016 22:28

Went to Iceland for my holidays last year and even in July it looked pretty much like it does in this great drama ie snow all over the place.

RosaDiazepam · 20/02/2016 22:47

So any theories?

SmallGreenBouncyBall · 20/02/2016 22:53

the hotelier?
the old police chief?
the ferry capitain and his mate?

OP posts:
OttiliaVonBCup · 20/02/2016 22:54

Not sure anyone can survive that.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 20/02/2016 22:56

Lots of theories here, but will hold onto them for now! Realised tonight that the music is very Hitchcock-esque (Hitchcockian?!) - really builds the tension. Loved tonight's episodes, can't wait for next week.

Also, wrong section I know, but AIBU to really quite fancy Andri? Blush

buckingfrolicks · 20/02/2016 22:58

its endemic illegal activities in the town they're all at it except Andri and the woman police officer - they're all rotten to the core!
i suspect the now-mayor (wife beater guy) established a drugs/immigrant route, using the danish sea captain's second in command initially as the link, now even the sea captain's in on it.

Every bugger is crooked - and no one can get out of it because they're all trapped by knowing the other people's guilty secrets, hence trapped

That's my take on it. Andri will end up fleeing with his girls, the woman copper will die, and it'll be very, very cold

SmallGreenBouncyBall · 20/02/2016 22:59

andri looks exactly how I imagine vikings must have looked.

yes the avalanche looked scary!

OP posts:
OttiliaVonBCup · 20/02/2016 23:01

They are all in it, police woman's husband looked dodgy, even the two trafficked women look shifty.

OttiliaVonBCup · 20/02/2016 23:03

Not just avalanche but the remaining explosives going off as well.

I think for people so obviously used to living with snow and blizzards the have surprisingly little common sense. They are always chasing some family member in the blizzard.

smugmumofboys · 21/02/2016 00:29

Just watched episodes 3&4. Like others, I was hooked five minutes into the first episode.

I have no theories yet but have found myself shouting at Andri to fasten his coat up and put some bloody gloves on.

Anyone else think that the behoodied Hjortur had something of the Jamie Dornan in the Fall about him?

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 21/02/2016 00:35

Anyone else think that the behoodied Hjortur had something of the Jamie Dornan in the Fall about him?

Yes, very much so - the eyes, cheekbones and scruffy facial hair all made me think of Jamie Dornan. didn't mention that to DH

helzapoppin2 · 21/02/2016 07:40

I've just joined at episode four. It looks wonderful. Andri is great. I could watch him calmly ponder for hours. What the heck is it with these Scandi dramas? Are "meaningful looks" part of the drama school curriculum?

RosaDiazepam · 21/02/2016 08:48

I just don't know what the heck is going on Grin love it though and Andri is a great character.
The guy watching everyone from his wheelchair...creepy. Does no one close their curtains?? He should tweet what he sees, that would help Andri out!
There's obviously someone resident on the island who's involved in the human trafficking. The ferry captain must have something to do with that rather than the Chinese port? The man killed has something to do with the Chinese port though is that right?

RomComPhooey · 21/02/2016 22:35

I agree it doesn't feel like it will end well.

Anyone got an idea about who Maggi's mysterious Dad is? I have a feeling it will be significant.

And who cared enough about Hjortur to pull him out of the fire?

I can't help wondering if Dagny went off the rails after the "perv" murder victim did something to her.

Also, is the implication the cuckolded ex-police chief/mayor was raping his wife?

RosaDiazepam · 22/02/2016 13:08

Yes I think so, he's certainly abusive he went nuts when she said 'you're no oil painting yourself dear' or something like it. Andri seems to know not to trust him...

rumbelina · 22/02/2016 13:14

Oh the mayor is horrible.

Who the hell is the guy spying on everyone? He bought one of the phones didn't he?

The actor who plays Andri is going to be in the BFG film - I'm assuming he'll be one of the giants! He's lovely but I can see him being a baddie too.

Now that I know the captain is the dad from the Killing I can't stop seeing it and it's making me feel sorry for him when clearly he is a shit.

RomComPhooey · 22/02/2016 14:32

Actually, bearing in mind that the mayor is clearly a wrong 'un, do we think the mayor and the Spanish-domiciled perv were in cahoots? Maybe it was the mayor (ex plice chief) who did wrong by Dagny & she knew she'd get no justice in her town so never reported. It would explain his eagerness to demonise and discredit Hjortur, as he suspects Dagny may have confided in him.

SmellsLikeMiddleAgeSpirit · 23/02/2016 00:05

Really enjoying this, love a bit of Scandi!

No theories to report just yet, but is anyone else wondering why Andri apparently lives with his EX wife's parents? On which planet would that happen? The new house is being sorted, which I thought Andri and the girls were going to move into, but then ex-wife turns up and mentions making an office in the basement. Very peculiar!
