Ooooooooooooh, I'm so excited for next week to play out!!

I honestly can't remember the last TV programme that has enthralled me as much as this has. I'm really going to find it hard to fill the void, even the prospect of more Game of Thrones isn't helping me!

NewYearSameMe · 05/03/2016 22:55

Shock I gasped and startled the dog when that key fell on the floor.

helzapoppin2 · 05/03/2016 23:22

So, there could be a wicked older generation at play here!
Eirikur and Siggy's dad!

MissWimpyDimple · 05/03/2016 23:27

How many more episodes? My Saturday nights are going to be so empty...

I'm going to have to move to Iceland and marry Andrii a bear

MissWimpyDimple · 05/03/2016 23:28

Yes I think this will turn out to be linked to the original fire, which Hrafn will have covered up. The original dead man left around then too I think?

RomComPhooey · 06/03/2016 10:29

I fell asleep in 2nd ep last noght, catching up shortly so am averting my eyes in case of spoilers. In the meantime, I wanted to capture an observation about the Icelandic language. There were a couple of times where it sounded like rumpled English - someone said "here and there", when talking about Sigudur's written statement a word like "scribbling" was used. There were a couple of other examples I've forgotten. It's fascinating and a hint at some of our Viking linguistic hangovers. I like watching The Bridge and The Killing for the same reason. It's not quite as obvious with Swedish shows.

gingercat12 · 06/03/2016 10:35

Just marking my place.

QuinionsRainbow · 06/03/2016 11:49

Do you have to shower naked in communal showers (shower gel provided) BEFORE you put your bathers on & go in at Blue Lagoon like every other public swimming pool in Iceland?

In a word, YES!

RomComPhooey · 06/03/2016 11:56

I am not surprised. They are very serious about swimming pool etiquette. It was a bit toe curling to start off with, but by the end of the holiday we weren't bothered.

RomComPhooey · 06/03/2016 12:00

At one of the pools we visited (newish, not far from Reykjavik), they even had an enclosed open-air courtyard off each changing room so you could strut your stuff, shower and dress al fresco in warmer weather. The open air pools are geothermally-heated and stay open all winter, so you can still swim outdoors when there's snow on the ground.

foragogo · 06/03/2016 12:04

So the FIL burned nasty mayor in revenge for his daughters death now that it was finally clear it wasnt the young guy who did it? And there is something going on with the young red headed boy and his mum isn't there? They're covering up his paretage.

officerhinrika · 06/03/2016 15:09

I think I now want an Isuzu Trooper jeep just like Andi has. I'd be happy with a car that can be winched out of an avalanche and returned "in surprisingly good condition"!
Last week I wanted the Subaru Forester police car - after all if there's a queue for Andri there has to be some consolation.

NewYearSameMe · 06/03/2016 16:09

I have to say that I didn't understand what other women were seeing in Andri until the bit where his ex-wife kissed him and he swept her up like she weighed nothing and carried her off to bed. Grin

RomComPhooey · 06/03/2016 16:16

I thought his apology to his ex was genuine and the sign of a decent bloke. He is a well-written and acted character. Of course, we are all now guilty of giving the XW an easy ride when she is boffing her ex and cuckolding the new bloke, MN hypocrites that we are. Grin

Not sure what to make of Hinrika's husband. I can't help thinking he's a wrong 'un, but everything he says is right on. I'm half waiting for him to pounce on the older African sister when Hinrika's out.

flightywoman · 06/03/2016 16:22

My mum thinks Hinrika's husband is a bad 'un in some way, maybe in cahoots with Andri's FIL, but she was a bit tight when she was watching it so that might be clouding her vision - although she reads a LOT of thrillers and is usually good at spotting the plot!

And the Captain! I thought he wasn't as bad as he was being painted!

NewYearSameMe · 06/03/2016 16:26

I know what you mean RomCom, he sort of lurks in quite a creepy way, and the older sister seems quite wary of him too.

RomComPhooey · 06/03/2016 16:27

Once the captain was skyping his girls, I had a flash of Killing1 Theis as family man. His English accent sounded surprisingly posh.

diddl · 06/03/2016 16:28

I thought that Hinrika's husband was going to try to have sex with the oldest sister.

He creeps me out.

NewYearSameMe · 06/03/2016 16:35

I'm beginning to find the ex-wife's boyfriend a bit odd. He is strangely bland. Every other character in the series has a bit of a back story and 'issues', even the very minor ones like Hjortur's mother, but he doesn't. He's just relentlessly cheerful and lacking in any sort of opinion, in a situation that ought to be rather trying. Surely by the stage that your girlfriend's ex-h has borrowed your car and then not bothered to return it so that you have to trek over to the town hall to retrieve it, even the mildest-mannered person would start to crack a little.

GlowWine · 06/03/2016 16:42

So I'm not the only one creeped out by Hinrika's husband. But what about the young one courting Sigurdur's wife and going for Joanna in the pool? I find that no detail is irrelevant in these 'slow' dramas.

RomComPhooey · 06/03/2016 17:27

That's Hjalmar. Standard randy teen?

Istrianlover · 06/03/2016 17:36

Loving it. Can't wait until next Saturday.

RomComPhooey · 06/03/2016 17:56

Smiley photo off IMDB.

MeolsCop · 06/03/2016 17:57

I'd rather like this to go on for more than 10 episodes - it's gripping.

I love Hinrika and her serious little scrunched-up face, but dh and I agree that her dope-smoking husband seems awfully dodgy. His hovering around the rescued girls is not looking good to me.

We keep shouting to everyone to do their coats up, too Grin

flightywoman · 06/03/2016 18:01

I'm torn between my impatient nature loving that it's 2 eps a week and my sadness that it's only on for 5 weeks because it's 2 eps a week!

Oh and Andri's wife with new bloke? ANYONE CAN SEE SHE'S ONLY WITH HIM BECAUSE HE'S THE TOTAL OPPOSITE OF ANDRI...
