I hated the last scene. I would have liked it if Hinrika had turned up and given Andri a hug. It was horrible to see him walk off alone like that Sad

NewYearSameMe · 13/03/2016 14:19

So who is the mother of the blonde girl that was looking after Maggi on the night of the murder? Hjortur and the blonde girl were sitting on the sofa in the background when she was on the phone, or were they both just visiting the dark haired girl (Andri's niece)?

pearlgirl · 13/03/2016 14:52

Have really enjoyed this - felt that it was left a bit open at the end as I really didn't trust Kolbrun.
We spent last Christmas in Iceland - in a cottage in the golden circle and there were days when only 3 or 4 cars went by the house.

RomComPhooey · 13/03/2016 15:23

Its interesting that there's nothing to keep Andri in the fjord town now, family-wise, and he was asked to lead the murder investigation by the big chief after the Reykjavik cop ballsed it up, so I see a way back for him to the big city. Perhaps the next series will be based in Reykjavik, although Trapped is a bit problematic for season 2 unless they can spin it a different way.

diddl · 13/03/2016 16:59

Well that was all very sad, wasn't it?

Should Andri have kept quiet about finding the key in his FIL's pocket?

It was so well done how you felt so sorry for Andri's FIL & Maggi's mum.

RomComPhooey · 13/03/2016 17:02

I don't see how he could have, diddl, without undermining his integrity and moral foundation. A very difficult choice, but the right one.

diddl · 13/03/2016 17:23

Hmm, I suppose so!

Just realised something I didn't quite get.

The fire at the fish factory was purely for money.

How were the hotel guy & the guy who jumped from the helicopter involved in that?

SmellySourdough · 13/03/2016 17:58

the hotel guy paid sigudur (sp?) to lay the fire. in return for shares in the fish factory and therefor mucho return from selling to the chinese.

diddl · 13/03/2016 18:09

Ooh, I thought that the Mayor got the chap who raped Maggi's mum to set the fire in return for know charges.

SmellySourdough · 13/03/2016 18:21
Happyrouter · 13/03/2016 19:04

I think fish factory man, mayor, hotel man and man who jumped from helicopter were all generally running the town corruptly and essentially sharing proceeds of corruption in exchange for a general, silence between them about the corruption, therefor all in it together generally.

I may be wrong, but that's how I read it...

diddl · 13/03/2016 20:17

I think you're right.

I couldn't see that the hotel man or helicopter man were directly linked to the fire iyswim.

Happyrouter · 13/03/2016 20:30

Diddl no I don't think directly linked but I got the impression that they knew about it and were possibly benefitting from a bunt from the insurance payout. That is mostly speculation though.

diddl · 13/03/2016 20:48

Yes.

The hotel man seemed to have benefitted, the other one not!

pearlgirl · 13/03/2016 23:02

They were all part of then company that was investing in the new hotel and buying up plots of land. The implication was that the company had been founded with some of the pay out from the fire in 2008.

guerre · 17/03/2016 00:23

Were there other trafficked girls though? The Danish captain seems to suggest that they had been doing that Icelandic run for quite some time. When Joy made the tea, did her stomach look swollen? Poor woman.

I did think Hinricka might take Maggi in, as she hasn't children, but I think her house is full at present.

The music at the end, as Andri is saying goodbye to his family, is so mournful. Beautiful but heartbreaking all at once. There must be a word for that. In Icelandic perhaps?

Nothavingfunrightnow · 18/03/2016 07:20

I watched this show over the past 3 days as I was off work ill. What a magnificent piece of work it was! I was so impressed.

Can someone explain the link between Andri's FIL and the mayor, please? Why did the FIL kill the mayor?

The scene where Andri and his ex were in bed was so moving.

diddl · 18/03/2016 09:05

The Mayor had the fire set that killed Dagny.

BingoBonkers · 18/03/2016 13:01

Fantastic series. Simply brilliant.

The opening credits with the Rock and body close ups with the soundtrack was captivating.

Nothavingfunrightnow · 18/03/2016 15:14

How did the FIL know that the mayor started the fire?

Yes, Bingo! The rock and the body close ups were so cleverly done. What a brilliant, clever, captivating series. Loved it!

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 19/03/2016 19:31

I miss Andri Sad

I'm also mildly Angry that my Grow-Your-Own-Andri experiment has foundered, as it would seem my DH of 10 years cannot grow facial hair that isn't patchy and reminiscent of a 15yr old Hmm. I have a more believable beard on my legs yeti Blush

In saying that, I have high hopes for "Follow The Money" tonight, will see if there's a thread about that later...

NoahVale · 21/03/2016 22:48

did wonder if Henrik was based on the woman in Fargo, looked similar

NoahVale · 21/03/2016 22:50
