I think Andri and his wife were doing up the house before they split up, her office was to be there too. Then after the split he was supposed to be doing it up so they could sell it, she said.

But her dad seemed to think that Andri was going to move in with the girls when it was finished. The ex-wife wants to take the girls away with her though.

It's snowing here now and I'm consoling myself that it's not as bad as in Iceland.

SmellsLikeMiddleAgeSpirit · 23/02/2016 07:31

I'm jealous, Fid . There has been no snow where I am (south west) for 3 years! Well, none that's landed or stuck. I love snow. Must go to Iceland.

OK, I get it about the house now, but Andri is the chief of police. He must be on a pretty good salary. Why is he staying with the ex PILs, even when his ex wife and her new boyfriend come? He could afford his own place, surely. Very strange.

helzapoppin2 · 23/02/2016 07:51

The parents house is bothering me too! It looks like a recipe for insanity and must have 100 bedrooms. Also, why are lovely Andri's daughters like Devil dolls? I expect to to see Perla's head turn green and spin!
I'm re watching episodes 3@4 for any clues.
New game!
What's your Icelandic surname? Mine is Owensdottir!

MaynJune · 23/02/2016 07:57

I got the impression that Andri lived on a separate floor from the grand-parents. He talked about the washing machine not working and asked if he could use the mother-in-law's.
I know people with houses like that in Germany. Family living but separate flats.

SmellsLikeMiddleAgeSpirit · 23/02/2016 09:09

Hi, I'm Douglasesdottir! Douglasdottir?

Ah, you'd soon move out of there, though, wouldn't you, May in the event of divorce/ separation?

helzapoppin2 · 23/02/2016 10:44

Ah, but, have you noticed how they offer Andri some dinner every time he walks in the door. I'd probably stay on those terms!

helzapoppin2 · 23/02/2016 10:47

Also, must inform DS1 about those cosy communal living arrangements. (He lives in Germany)

PerettiChelsea · 23/02/2016 11:16

Hang on - Dagny was abused? Missed that

rumbelina · 23/02/2016 12:02

I don't think it's that weird. My mum and dad shared a similar house when I was a teenager - 4 years after they'd separated. My mum had the top floor which had its own kitchen and sitting room. New partners and ex-partners children also lived there. It was a mish mash but it worked for us! The ILs seem to do some of the childcare so that would make sense too.

Also, why are lovely Andri's daughters like Devil dolls? I expect to to see Perla's head turn green and spin! - Yes! I hope they've learnt their lesson now with Maggi, they are horrors.

SmellsLikeMiddleAgeSpirit · 23/02/2016 13:39

Ah yes, I forgot about the bountiful free food at the PILs.
I'd probably stay there too.

MaynJune · 23/02/2016 14:02

And the child care is right there too. Very handy for a man who works all the hours.

The in-laws seem to be fond of Andri. I hope the new man turns out to be a bad lot.

floppyjogger · 24/02/2016 13:12

I've decided that Andri looks a bit like Russell Crowe when he's not filming, has drunk too many pints and eaten a few too many pies!

What a great series but i cant work out if Andri's DDs are emphasising the significance of Maggis dad not being around because he's going to be the mysterious big player in all of this.

Why else would anyone be bothered about no Dad unless its not socially acceptable in Iceland Confused I dont know anyone icelandic to ask!

Missanneshirley · 24/02/2016 20:54

I have missed this re dagny being abused too, can anyone recap?
I thought andri's daughters were so mean to show that they had been affected by their parents separation.
I'm presuming andri will make it out if the avalanche?!!

RomComPhooey · 24/02/2016 21:33

No abuse of Dagny has been explicitly stated, but I think the Dad's explanation about how she suddenly pulled away & started to act out hints at a trigger. I was wildly hypothesising.

PerettiChelsea · 24/02/2016 21:42

Ah right..I just took that to mean she'd met a boy & pulled away from the family a bit.

Yy to scruffy Russell Crowe!

helzapoppin2 · 24/02/2016 22:03

On a second watching I wouldn't be surprised if Dagny's dad started the fire that killed her.

Vagndidit · 26/02/2016 10:40

I'm late to the party, but really enjoying this one a lot! Shady little island, isn't it? Even the kids are evil. (Poor Maggi...)

Still cannot get over seeing Captain Theis Birk-Larsen...prison has hardened him ;)

midsomermurderess · 26/02/2016 11:27

I'm really enjoying it. My word, you'd have to be tough to live there. I feel exhausted just looking at all those snow storms.

diddl · 27/02/2016 16:27

Just watched the first two.

Enjoyed it, but it's a little bit tedious when everything is going wrong!

The Captain opening the doors, the prisoner escaping...

And Perla, blimey, what a bitch to Maggi!

And then the older one dragging & dragging her to look for him.

Well, at least she was bothered although I'm sure it was only to cover her sister's arse!

PerettiChelsea · 27/02/2016 21:51

Who is Kolbrun????!

MaynJune · 27/02/2016 21:53

His wife, I think.

MissWimpyDimple · 27/02/2016 21:55

His wife. But I don't think it was her that set him on fire. He was just calling to her.

PerettiChelsea · 27/02/2016 22:02

Oh right. Does anyone think the other police guy is a bit dodgy?

MissWimpyDimple · 27/02/2016 22:18

The ferry captain is terrifying. I think we are going to find out a lot more about those girls and what they've been through

PerettiChelsea · 27/02/2016 22:32

He is. Are the girls really safe there though?
