I have finally figured out what programme the sidekick in Torchwood (had to use turn-on-spray to get the girl and boy in first episode) was in.

He was absolute brilliant and was my favourite character in it.

'Bleak House' - Guppy.

Have to use matchsticks to stay up till 10.00 p.m. Jack is not as charasmatic as Christopher but hey ho ....its early days.

But last week's episode, with the geeky guy was very similar I thought to the Love and Monsters one with Marc Warren in.

JackieNoHoHo · 15/12/2006 13:06

Just looking at the Hogfather cast list. Had forgotten that Terry Pratchett's actually in it. When's it on, I wonder.

doyouwantfrankincensewiththat · 15/12/2006 13:07

good question - anyone else know?

JollyOldSaintNikkielas · 15/12/2006 20:33

What do you think the series end will be ?If there is going to be another series and Jack is going to be in Doctor Who?

wethreekingsofORINOCOare · 15/12/2006 22:54

I don't get unquietdad..sorry, I'm a bit thick......

Pixel · 16/12/2006 00:49

Unquiet dead was the title of a Doctor Who episode.

wethreekingsofORINOCOare · 16/12/2006 18:31

oh I see...thanks!

JollyOldSaintNikkielas · 16/12/2006 21:42

Tomorrows episode looks good, does one of them know Jack from the 1940s?

JackieNoHoHo · 17/12/2006 22:54

. Not sure about that one either. Rather slow going. When Owen and whatsherface started dancing, I was saying 'Oh come on, bring on some aliens, please'.

But was interested to hear the guy in the preview for next week's episode saying 'In the dark, something's coming', which is what Susie said just before she died, didn't she?

snowfallatxmasmum · 17/12/2006 23:14

well i really liked it, nothing wrong with a slow ep and despite not being very fond of Gwen i think she showed good comic timing.the girl is growing on me.
i like the mix of drama and some comedy even pathos

PortAndLemonaid · 18/12/2006 12:24

I thought if they were going to do that they should have had whatserface stick around for a couple of episodes to stir things up a bit. Some good performances, though. And looking forward to next week's.

bran · 18/12/2006 12:34

How on earth does Owen pull all those women? I find him very unappealing. Also, the whole episode seemed to cover about a week so didn't Gwen notice that Owen was spending all that time with the pilot? Perhaps there will be a big showdown in the next episode.

I did think Gwen's "birds and bees" talk was very sweet and funny. I think the dialogue isn't as good in Torchwood as in Dr Who, but that bit was spot on.

myrrhthamoo · 18/12/2006 12:39

I'm a bit bored with it now.

It's just Sex. With Aliens. And Sex With Aliens.

I thought last week's with Eugene was dismal and this week, I was practically cheering as Amelia Earhart lady got into her cockpit and flew away cos all that lovey stuff with Owen was just too cheesy for words.

Owen is really odd looking - he looks like his face is made of Play Doh.

bran · 18/12/2006 12:50

I was expecting more alien technology and hard science and fewer sub-standard x-files/supernatural plots.

They are supposed to be trying to gather alien technology, but they seem to destroy most of it or lock it away as too dangerous to use.

myrrhthamoo · 18/12/2006 12:53

I don't like or care about any of the characters - they can all get eaten by aliens and I wouldn't care. Even this week, when Captain Jack did his impassioned "I'm a man out of my own time too" speech and sat with the guy in the car - which should have been moving, I just kept thinking "that's a funny old dimple he has in his chin..." and other random thoughts.

bran · 18/12/2006 12:58

It's funny you should say that, because I was thinking that it looked as though he's had some work done on his eyes in that scene. For some reason I was a bit sniffly at the girl going off to London on the bus though.

PortAndLemonaid · 18/12/2006 13:37

RTD doesn't do hard science, though. I actually find it something of a blessing that he hasn't really tried it yet in Torchwood because when he has done in Doctor Who it's clearly rubbish. I do think that Torchwood and Doctor Who could both do with a good science / science fiction consultant at the moment. DH suggested Dave Langford...

JollyOldSaintNikkielas · 18/12/2006 20:07

Strange episode , not a lot happend really,Far too much Owen having sex (facial expressions ).
Thought there would be more about JAck.
I liked Gwens sex ed though

foxinsocks · 18/12/2006 20:10

oh god, the owen having sex aarrgghh

what on earth was he doing when they were having sex in the sitting up position? at first, it looked like someone had stuck a poker up his arse but then I realised he was just sort of thrusting....either way, he really looked like he was in pain!

thought that Gwen bit was funny (even though I don't like her) and the Jack gassing bit was sad. Next week's does look much better.

JollyOldSaintNikkielas · 25/12/2006 21:16

Did anyone watch last nights? It was a bit more Alien than usual (and no sex )
I am so looking forward to next weeks after seeing the trailer after Dr who tonight!

JollyOldSaintNikkielas · 27/12/2006 19:19

I bought the first 5 episodes on dvd today!!!!!!!!

JollyOldSaintNikkielas · 27/12/2006 20:44

Watching the Dvd now!
The lift wasn't made by Torchwood it was already there, created by something rested on that spot .......TARDIS?
