I have finally figured out what programme the sidekick in Torchwood (had to use turn-on-spray to get the girl and boy in first episode) was in.

He was absolute brilliant and was my favourite character in it.

'Bleak House' - Guppy.

Have to use matchsticks to stay up till 10.00 p.m. Jack is not as charasmatic as Christopher but hey ho ....its early days.

Have to say I didn't really like this week's, although Eugene was an appealing character. Did anyone else notice that as Gwen was sitting on the pavement as Eugene was finally disappearing, she grabbed Jack's hand? And it looks as if Owen will be getting together with someone else next week.

JollyOldSaintNikkielas · 11/12/2006 20:56

Yeah think some of its aimed at teenage boys

PortAndLemonaid · 12/12/2006 10:07

Was there any lesbian stuff (gratuitous or otherwise) this week? Or last week, come to that?

deaconblue · 12/12/2006 10:18

Wasn't last week the one with Tosh and the alien? Just remembered it was the one with Susie...so no, there has been no lesbian action for two weeks. I stand corrected

foxinsocks · 12/12/2006 13:00

I also enjoyed this one - and although I can't stand Gwen, I did find myself really sympathising with poor old Eugene. Also thought Jack looked gorgeous in that blue striped shirt (phowaaar).

Can't say the lesbian action bothers me. Quite enjoy all the sexual ambiguity that goes on.

DonnerDasherDancerDior · 12/12/2006 16:16

I though the episode this week was a bit dull really.

Pixel · 12/12/2006 18:33

I just kept on thinking of Elton in the Doctor Who episode Love and Monsters. A slightly geeky but likeable lad with a story to tell, except this one was dead!

JackieNoHoHo · 12/12/2006 19:22

Yes - completely agree Pixel. But I didn't much like that Doctor Who episode either. Were they both written by the same person, I wonder?

JollyOldSaintNikkielas · 12/12/2006 19:51

fab website

UnquietDad · 12/12/2006 21:30

No, different writers, Jackie. "Love & Monsters" was Russell T Davies, the recent "Torchwood" was by Jacquetta May.

JackieNoHoHo · 12/12/2006 22:21

Ah well, UnquietDad - that's that theory down the drain then. Thanks though.

JollyoldsaintNikkielas - love that site .

foxinsocks · 13/12/2006 18:18

I watched a bit of it again just now (yes, I'm bored!) and I did wonder at the time (and again) why (as obviously Welsh people) the father wanted to sing Danny Boy at the funeral?

What gets me with Torchwood, is that I can deal with sci-fi type scripts, sexual ambiguity, characters I don't empathise with but I really don't like plot inaccuracies/inconsistencies. Although maybe I missed something with the Danny Boy song.

JollyOldSaintNikkielas · 13/12/2006 18:59

I just assumed it was the first thing that cam e into the Dads head !

JackieNoHoHo · 15/12/2006 07:17

UnquietDad - just 'got' your name last night.

UnquietDad · 15/12/2006 09:26

jackieNo!
It was either that or BadWolf...

JackieNoHoHo · 15/12/2006 10:00

I like UnquietDad (now that I understand it) - it's subtle (well, that's what I'm telling myself to account for the fact that I didn't get it till yesterday). BadWolf's good too, but it sounds a bit threatening. Though I'd probably have got the reference sooner.

Earthymama · 15/12/2006 10:33

I saw Ianto in my local pub last week!!
Walked in thinking, 'Oh, there's that nice nice boy from the office.'
Then thought, 'What office, I don't go to any offices any more. But I do know him,' casting around for where I had seen him before until the light dawned and I'm doing that nodding-head-in-his-direction thing to DP as we walk past.

He seemed a nice lad but was with girlies who were very excited by him being there, and he was being Mr Cool.
There's an feature on him in this months NPLife(a local listings mag)in which he talks about being a Newport boy, how he got the part etc.

He seems a bit more lively than Ianto, too!1

don't watch Torchwood enough to know the answers to these questions but,

Isn't Gwen the same woman who played the psychic maid in the Dr Who 'Dickens' episode ?
& doesn't one of those Torchwood boys have a girlfriend who's a paving slab from another Dr Who episode?

PortAndLemonaid · 15/12/2006 12:45

(1) Yes.

(2) Shirley Henderson as Ursula Blake? Are we talking real-life or fictional girlfriend?

UnquietDad · 15/12/2006 12:45

Yes to Gwen (she was Gwyneth), not sure about the other.

doyouwantfrankincensewiththat · 15/12/2006 12:56

ooh thanks for the quick answer!

hmm...the actor in that Dr Who episode was Marc Warren..is he in Torchwood?

JackieNoHoHo · 15/12/2006 12:58

Marc Warren is the guy from Hustle.

JackieNoHoHo · 15/12/2006 13:01

Don't think he's been in Torchwood .

doyouwantfrankincensewiththat · 15/12/2006 13:02

yep - not the same bloke (told you I don't watch it much

doyouwantfrankincensewiththat · 15/12/2006 13:03

You've just redminded me to try not to miss The Hogfather!
