A week to go till we can snuggle down under a warm blanquette of jus.
What will this season fig and samphire be?

ballsballsballs · 26/10/2014 13:37

((((Monica Galeti))))

squoosh · 26/10/2014 14:30

Did someone mention Marcus??

Have never watched this programme before but may make an exception now seeing as my fave moody kitchen hottie is hosting.

Davros · 26/10/2014 16:51

Can't wait! I was in St Pancras Grand today which is supposed to be MW's restaurant, I wonder if he will be able to keep it going? (I was only walking through to get to the stn btw)

doobledootch · 26/10/2014 16:54

I saw the trailer for this yesterday, no more junior Roux Sad

MW always comes across as a bit of an arrogant tosser, but I am quite looking forward to a change in tone, all series have been getting a bit 'nice' recently.

Hexiegone · 27/10/2014 11:58

Oo, he of the hairy arms - this'll be interesting.

squoosh · 27/10/2014 12:01

Lovely Marcus caught in smile shocker. In fairness he's probably thinking about pouring boiling goose fat over the veg prep chef.

KurriKurri · 27/10/2014 14:49

I'll miss the lovely Michel, but MW is sex on a stick an attractive man, he looks like he should be one of the McGann brothers.
Obviously I only watch it for the cooking Grin

Stewedcoot · 27/10/2014 16:59

Don't care for Marcus Sneering ...

Bring back Michel Roux Jnr!

Fhs, why was he ousted from the Beeb because of an obscure potato-ad, when Gary Linekar is doing Match of the Day and is associated with much more well known brand of crisps. Makes no sense at all!

squoosh · 27/10/2014 17:05

Marcus is displeased with Stewedcoot. Marcus says 'Stewedcoot will find herself on the wrong side of my Magimix if she's not careful'.

Hear hear stewedcoot

Blummin' love masterchef the pros

Stewedcoot · 27/10/2014 17:17

Grin Grin Squoosh

Marcus Sneering should be reminded that coots are protected species and therefore cannot be shredded. Wink

Stewedcoot · 27/10/2014 17:18

We should start a petition Thursday!

Fuckerysmuckeryboilsnspornery · 27/10/2014 17:23

Didn't the lovely Roux Jnr get bumped to food and drink.
It should be well scary with MW and Monica.
Are we going to have MC bingo with the latest must have ingredient or technique?
Squoosh-a live Fred you aren't on? No! (You are always faf)

PinkAndBlueBedtimeScares · 27/10/2014 17:25

Oh, when does this start/ channel/ time? I can't find it on my sky planner?!

squoosh · 27/10/2014 17:36

No Fuckery! I've never live threaded a MC Professionals. I always thought it looked a bit worthy, swotty catering students from Blackpool Catering College battling it out. I like good old Celeb MC with Keith Chegwin or some other such loser sweating into a bowl of samphire.

But as Marvellous Marcus is on my screen I may just have to take a peek.

doobledootch · 27/10/2014 18:26

I like it the most out of the MC franchise as it feels like it has a point to it and it has Monica in it

It's on BBC2 which might be why you're having problems locating it.

Is it ok to join in even though I probably still won't remember any of their names when it gets to the final and there is only three of them left!

doobledootch · 27/10/2014 18:27

squoosh some of them clearly work the grill at Burger King so there is still plenty of entertainment in the first couple of weeks.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 02/11/2014 08:15

Can't wait for the new series to start! This is my favourite Masterchef variant. And now a public service announcement. Here's the schedule for the new series.

21 episodes, BBC2.

1: Tuesday 4th Nov, 8pm-9pm, first round
2: Wednesday 5th Nov 8pm-9pm, first round
3: Thursday 6th Nov 8pm-9pm, quarter-final

That's the pattern for the first few weeks. Presumably week 6 will be semi-finals and week 7 finals.

Don't read further than this if you don't want to know what the BBC website says about the format, ie what they're going to have to do.

OK, there are a few changes from yesteryear (not major, though, except that I doubt Marcus Wareing will be as lovely and nurturing as MRJ, sigh).

The BBC website says in each of the first rounds there will be 5 chefs. They warm up by making a signature dish for Monica and Greg (I assume). One gets chucked out after that. Remaining four face Monica's skills test (which is my favourite bit). Then Marcus Wareing sets them a test, at the end of which second chef is chucked out. It looks as if he isn't expecting them to follow a classic recipe, as MRJ did. He gives them a brilliant range of top notch ingredients, tells them they have to make a dish using e.g. quail, and then leaves them free to decide which other ingredients to use and how to cook and present it.

Quarter-final: there should be six to start with. First they have to make something brilliant from trimmings. At least one goes after that. Remaining chefs cook for the critics (another of my favourite bits).

doobledootch · 02/11/2014 09:44

Great work on the PSA will get recording Smile

LovelyMarchHare · 02/11/2014 09:47

I completely love Michel and his twinkling dark eyes. Used to have a thing for MW but his affected hard nut image gets on my nerves.

Monica is fantastic though.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 04/11/2014 10:36

Bump! Starts tonight, 8pm, BBC2. Can't wait!

Fuckerysmuckeryboilsnspornery · 04/11/2014 18:13

Bumpity bump bump. And thanks to Mimsy for the excellent groundwork. And ingredient/technique bingo?
See you later for the live thread?

Bring on the jus!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/11/2014 20:00

Greg is a seasoned diner apparently. Does that mean he is sprinkled with salt and pepper?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/11/2014 20:01

Missed the task, argh.
