What did you think of The Honourable Woman?

I can't decide! MG for me veered between really good and really annoying. Loved her clothes tho. Is she in a relationship with the nanny?

OP posts:
BOFster · 17/07/2014 21:04

Who is that woman in the beginning?

BOFster · 17/07/2014 21:05

And can't Nessa spring for a pillow in her panic room, or has she blown all her dosh on frocks?

GlaikitFizzog · 17/07/2014 21:07

Which woman? The one in the boot?

GypsyFloss · 17/07/2014 21:11

Why was Attica brushing her teeth with a new child's brush? In case they need DNA that links her with the boy?

GypsyFloss · 17/07/2014 21:17

Aha.

BOFster · 17/07/2014 21:25

Do you think the BBC regretting that their voice coach was recruited from one of those insomnia self-hypnosis CD clubs?

BOFster · 17/07/2014 21:29

And will the DNA test show Nessa's DNA and make them think that Kassim is Ephra's? Ooh, he'll be up shit street with the missus...

onedev · 17/07/2014 21:42

So Kasim is Nessa's son then & her wrong choice was pretending that he wasn't??

Kidnapped for a year - wow!

onedev · 17/07/2014 21:47

Good catch on the toothbrush & DNA - I'd never have thought of that!

Floundering · 17/07/2014 21:57

Nice cop should've listened to his instincts

GypsyFloss · 17/07/2014 21:59

Oh shit.

Floundering · 17/07/2014 22:01

Yes deep shit

GypsyFloss · 17/07/2014 22:03

So...maybe Kassim is Attica's son after all? And the father is the man with the burned face perhaps?

Floundering · 17/07/2014 22:06

Maybe Gypsy .......

So were they kidnapped before Attica was pregnant? Who were the 2 guys at the end?

Every time I think I get an answer, another 6 questions pop up!

ethelb · 17/07/2014 22:14

I feel like complaining to the BBC about the shit non-sensical genetics in this. You don't find maternal dna in anything unless u are looking at mitochondrial dna which would show nothing about paternity. You look at nuclear DNA when looking at parentage which is just DNA!

You look at all of everyone's DNA and compare it for markers.

If they only found her DNA all over the toothbrush the forensics team would have been like 'why the fuck is this woman using Kasim's toothbrush?!' Not deciding that she was the mother of a child for whom they have no dna sample.

You dont get 'paternal dna' tested from sperm, you would get dna from a diploid cell so you can see ALL THEIR DNA which is the point of the test. So why did he keep on banging on about his balls?!

couldbeanyone · 17/07/2014 22:22

I find it slightly far fetched that the bodyguard / wannabe spy would believe that someone would be book keeping at night in a factory...wtf?!

couldbeanyone · 17/07/2014 22:24

Also I reckon the guy standing up at the end is the one with the burnt face. Not sure about the one sitting down.

BOFster · 17/07/2014 22:27

I got lost in that plot strand, ethelb- mired in the confusion of an extraordinarily well-spoken Jeremy Kyle episode...

ethelb · 17/07/2014 22:28

Couldbeanyone agreed. Crap spy.

Plus how did burnt face man know guard/spy wannabe would find her when he did and get to her first to threaten her mum?

onedev · 17/07/2014 22:31

I'm very confused!

ethelb · 17/07/2014 22:33

BOF jeremy kyle do accurate DNA testing. Could a researcher not have called up ITV and asked how it works?

The problem is im now wondering if they did a pretend DNA test to throw the scent or something. To get part of a plot point so wildly inaccurate is a bit off in a highish brow thriller!

GypsyFloss · 17/07/2014 22:40

Good point. Maybe the policeman lied about the testing in the hope that the family would disclose something about their secret.

I have to admit I'm mightily confused , again . And Nessa is beginning to get on my wick.

BOFster · 17/07/2014 22:50

The Guardian recap for this week. I don't know what I'd do without it.

Interestingly, it points out that Nessa seemed to send Bloom to his doom...although to be fair, if he was daft enough to follow a suspect into a disused abattoir, you can argue that he deserved it.

Floundering · 17/07/2014 23:23

ah maybe thats why Nessa was crying so much, she realised nice bodyguard was going to his death when she had to answer the phone & say the secret was no longer safe or risk losing Kassim
