So now here we are 9th thread after the 9th episode! Aren't we clever? The Cardinal will be giving us all his lusty lusty eyes to show appreciation but please try not to get too turned on and distracted by it because we have much wenching to do to take us up to the big finale!

Please remember IT'S NEVER TOO LATE TO JOIN THE WENCHOOD! If you are a saucy lurker then please feel free to join in our discussions.

WARNING: Sometimes we discuss the plot line!

Morning - in typical fashion my symptoms are almost unnoticeable atm ready for the dr later! So I am having a strange day so far of wishing myself to feel worse Grin

Otherwise I'd no doubt cancel and then overnight take a dramatic turn for the worst!

Stinkers - no, swashbuckle it is not. It is nowhere near as innocent either. But having seen clips/ads of GoT, Borgias, Tudors, Vikings and having watched the whole series of Da Vinci's Demons - I would say it comes closest in terms of violence/humour to The Musketeers. It does get a bit racy. There are tits, bums and iirc the odd willy. But it's not non stop. Lots of leather too. And beards.

Whether on this thread or not though, I highly recommend it. Can't wait for series two (autumn I think).

Twit - how did the cake go down or was that you?

MadamedeChevreuse · 26/03/2014 09:01

Morning wenches who are still here. Is the Twitterstorm over now? Now that's the way to make an entrance, Mrs Athos...

Am liking the "cultured book discussion" turn this thread has taken for the benefit of the two twatheads in the pub.

Malcolm your DS doesn't sound like you AT ALL.

QueenAnneofAustria · 26/03/2014 09:01

So we are at 402 posts. If yesterday's chat is anything to go by we will be well over that by 9pm and by the time we have had our mammoth rewatch this thread will be finished. I think that's a record.

HannahHorvath · 26/03/2014 09:13

Well I am too busy today for any idle chit chat so that prob removes about 50% of yesterday's bollocks Grin

See you all later half hour

MadamedeChevreuse · 26/03/2014 09:15

I've read the book Anne and other cultured wenches, it is BRILLIANT. Though it does go a bit weird at the end. I love the (one??) bit which they did actually use in the series, when they go fishing for widows etc to bankroll all their boozing and fighting...

Stinklebell · 26/03/2014 09:25

Hannah only watched the first episode, 5 minutes of the Earl of Grantham's arse followed by him being stabbed in the neck.

Got the rest downloaded to watch later, only have until midnight tomorrow before it turns into a pumpkin and disappears from my planner so have a Da Vinci's Demons marathon planned for today and tomorrow

It's a bit more GoT with humour than Musketeers from the first episode I think

LaComtessdelafere · 26/03/2014 09:46

Twas my favourite book as a tweenager. Leather and swashbuckling has set quite a tone for my whole life really... :-) . Trouble in the la fere household this morning, 2 boys in school, 2 at home. This was perceived as unfair. I do support the teachers tho. I've taken the day off so trying to tackle the washing and general mess resulting from too much time on the perving. I've spent quite a time on Mrs Athos's twitter feed. It's time well spent and I fully recommend it

HannahHorvath · 26/03/2014 09:50

Well I can't compare really, as haven't watched the others. But I loved it. Will be interested to hear your take and comparisons to GoT etc, once you've watched a few more.

I had avoided the others on grounds of too much gore/stabbing every 5 seconds, but am always looking for a new series won't have much else to do with my evenings so if you tell me, they're not that different, then maybe I'll revisit.

What I want to know is, do the blokes at the pub like the Musketeers themselves? Who is their favourite? And would they like their names put down for the Coach Trip Reenactment? No room for Prague as there aren't enough Musketeers to go around as it is

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 26/03/2014 10:00

Morning wenches.

I love that picture of Treville and the Cardinal on set. Notice how the Cardinal is all wrapped up in a big coat, the wuss, while the lovely Captain is clearly man enough to manage in just his leather?

Oblomov - don't worry about the Twitter thing. The only way there could be any outing is if you post on Twitter in relation to this thread and make it clear who you are, and your Twitter account is linked to your RL name.
I don't even have a twitter account so am v.unconcerned.

MalcolmTuckersMistress · 26/03/2014 10:02

Ha...Madame I can assure you all his faults come from his fathers genetics and are nothing to do with me!

I just saw the trailer for Sunday on tv again and almost launched myself at the television. But now it's Homes Under The Hammer and once again poor old Martin isn't in leather. thank goodness

Hannah thank God you have exorcised Rastamouse from your voice box this morning Grin Wink

There are plenty of Musketeers to go around, plenty. They have far more stamina than us - Athos didn't sleep for like three days in that last episode. A quick swig of red and a five minute lean against a wall and he's ready for action again!

MalcolmTuckersMistress · 26/03/2014 10:03

Ali, that's because I'd just sucked all his internal body heat RIGHT OUT OF HIM! Bad bad BAAAAAD Cardinal.

MTM - funny how that happens with children, the same situation here. Bad bits = DH, good bits = moi. Goes without saying.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 26/03/2014 10:03

Lol! Grin

BAD MTM!

I have a meeting at 11am... it isn't really worth starting now is it. No you say Aramis, I didn't think so.
Queen Anne
Passionate and strong-willed, Queen Anne yearns for a romantic escape from her waning marriage to the King.

Queenie from the BBC website. Perhaps her foray with Aramis and the King show of affection is just what their marriage needed.

Anne is a clever and enterprising young woman who would dearly like a stronger place in her husband’s affections and a role in the government of France. But it is increasingly clear that Louis has little interest in her. He regards Anne as too serious and is intimidated by her cleverness and wit. Although she is loyal to her husband, Anne is increasingly attracted to the dashing Musketeer Aramis. After nearly ten years of marriage Anne remains childless and is intensely conscious of her need to produce an heir to secure the succession and safety of France. Outwardly calm, Anne is in truth a far more volatile and impulsive woman than she first seems.

QueenAnneofAustria · 26/03/2014 10:21

MTM - some choice word

hot blooded woman

Simples.

Thank goodness this particular version of Richelieu will be immortalised forever on DVD. There will be none of this kind carry on in the TARDIS.

Ha ha Ali - it was MTM and Drink what started it. I am easily led, what can I say.
Though in true sister solidarity they both then pissed off back to normal, and Malcolm was actually dissing me to Mavis with talk of shoving Athos' cock in my mouth to shut me up. ok so that isn't really punishment.

Do we need a sign on the Tavern door saying You don't have to be mad to drink here, but it helps ? That kind of thing...

Obviously there would also be a much longer list of absolutely essential character traits... eg...pervy, loose, sex mad, objectifying, slightly feisty, delusional.....

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 26/03/2014 11:01

you mean you're in love with your Dh, MTM?

it is certainly a surprise to everyone

MadamedeChevreuse · 26/03/2014 11:09

Anne: "is loyal to her husband"...apart from when she's being banged by Aramis.

"ten years of marriage"...did not realise they allowed 12 year olds to marry in the 17th century.

I'm too old for Twitter so don't care. Will leave it to Luke, Tamla, Queenie and all the other beautiful generation Yers. I found myself watching The Net with Sandra Bullock last night. (DP out so couldn't guilt me for watching crap TV.) That's the internet I can relate to - big picture of a phone and a dial tone when you're about to send an email, red flashing letters saying VIRUS ALERT VIRUS ALERT when you're about to bring down the CIA. With a plastic floppy disc.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 26/03/2014 11:13

do not cancel your appointment, Hannah; go and say how you feeling today as if it was yesterday. just put it on.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 26/03/2014 11:33

Madame quite normal for 12 year olds to marry then, especially if they were aristocracy. I think the idea was to get them safely married before their periods started so that there was no possibility of an illegitimate baby. Whether or not any babies were actually the husbands is another matter!

MTM I like your confessional scenario. As a Catholic that speaks to the (very small) repressed and guilty part of me!! Grin

HannahHorvath · 26/03/2014 11:48

Ah thanks Drink. I must say it has been going around and around in my head whether to or not. I am terrible for stuttering, stumbling and generally doing a bad job of explaining things to dr at best of times. It's like my brain decides to pack up.
