The big Corrie thread (Spoiler Alert!)

For those of us who have no life care about Corrie and want to see it returned to its former glory.

And want answers to questions such as:

Why are Sean and Marcus moving back into Eileen's pokey house instead of getting a place of their own as other couples with two wages would do?

And does anyone else apart from me and Edith Weston remember when Corrie was on two days a week and was a high quality drama/comedy?

OP posts:

I don't understand the storyline around baby jack either.
Even if Kevin was to give up his son it isn't going going to completley erase molly and kevins affair.
Molly is dead now so is no 'threat' to sally so if she wants kevin back and forgive him she needs to accept his son also-she doesn't nessesarily need to be his 'mum' unless she wants to.
She would have grown a little close to jack now surely as she has had kevin living there for some time on & off

TheSameButDifferent · 28/04/2012 09:59

they should show true to life counselling sessions, and show viewers how things can be worked through. Wonder if any corrie writers have seen our thread?

SerenityUndercover · 28/04/2012 10:15

I think WRT Sally and Kevin, isn't it the first time they have properly been together since the big split brought about by Molly's deathbed confession? In the past she was merely looking after baby Jack but now she is realising if she gets with Kevin she's going to have to take a Mummy role to Jack whether she likes it or not. I think that's her problem, not really the affair or Jack being a result of the affair?

I do think they have missed a trick by not including Julie's pregnancy up til now, she could/should have done the early weeks, first time pregnant, PFBean, ooh I can;t eat this and that etc etc type stuff to perfection. I saw an ad where Julie has 12 week scan so she's still up the duff Smile maybe they are going to make such a meal of it they have kept the early weeks quiet in case everyone is thoroughly sick of the storyline by the time she has the baby.

Owen I think could have been a good-bad guy until the point he slapped Faye, I think audiences wont ever forgive/forget that so no matter what else he does it spoils any future reinvention of character as Mr Nice Guy.

I am SICK of the Audrey storyline, who cares really. Also sick of Carla and Peter. And Sunita and Carl. TOTALLY out of character for Sunita (I have watched 32+ years now missing only around 1 episode a year on average so there's not a lot I don't know about the characters!) and Sunita would never make a move on Carl like she is, sleeping with him etc. I do believe she could have possibly have had an affair but not so casually as her character is doing now. Sunita would have an affair based on love then angst about it, not an affair based on casual sex with someone like Carl.

SerenityUndercover · 28/04/2012 10:19

(should clarify, I am not a walking encylopedia of factual happenings in Corrie, but I have watched so long that I do feel I know the real, credible essence of the characters!!)

pumpkinsweetie · 28/04/2012 11:03

I also feel Sunitas behaviour is out of character and i dont believe it would be in her nature to go with a married man and also what would be the attraction with a moody avid gambler-cant see why anyone would want to get involved with him let alone a nice person like sunita

TheScottishPlayer · 28/04/2012 11:29

All the current story lines are quite poorly written atm.

In one day, Sally & Kevin got back together, everyone on the street bumped into Sally and commented on how she was an amazing mum (a bit of a stretch really), Sally realised she couldn't be a mum to Jack and then called it off. That would have been much more plausible if it had been better written and hadn't all happened in 12 hours.

The Sunita storyline is terrible, however, she did marry him the first time around AND went back to him years later for no good reason so she clearly has very ropey judgement when it comes to men. Her dissatisfaction with her marriage and refusal to go on holiday was all hurried and convenient.

Audrey storyline is awful - Gail has conveniently forgotten she didn't want David to hand over the salon (as has Audrey)

As for Owen's baddie status and Mary's Misery plot - it seems as if the writers had done one thing with the characters and then simply changed their minds later.

It's not real, it's not real, it's not real... Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/04/2012 12:38

Totally agree with Serenity about Sunita.
She split with Dev after Amber came back- a child who Dev had yeeeeaaarrrss before he got involved with her.
So the Carl/Sunita scenario is very unbelievable.

Nancy66 · 28/04/2012 14:42

The actress who plays Sunita as def had a nose job

BrightnessFalls · 28/04/2012 17:02

She's got a cracking figure. Im abit Shock at how she is dressing. Im surprised Dev hasnt noticed.

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 28/04/2012 18:06

BF agree - when she was working in teh shop she was always a bit dowdy, whence all the tight dresses?

Nancy66 · 28/04/2012 18:14

...i think the sexy dress is meant to be a symbol of her burgeoning independence and rebellion - along with being a barmaid.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 28/04/2012 18:20

I think she enjoyed her independence when she was living apart from Dev, I completely fail to see why she went back to him, but she did, he then started to totally take her for granted re working in the shop, she didn't bargain on Amber re-appearing and decided to make a move to independence again with the barmaid job. I still want to know what happened to the nice big house.

Nancy66 · 28/04/2012 18:23

didn't somebody say that Leanne and Carla both find out they are pregnant at the same time (by Peter) ?

Wouldn't that have happened by now - Leanne has been separated from Peter for about 4 months hasn't she ?

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 28/04/2012 18:24

Bit disquieting the way the adults completely disregard the kids in their kaleidoscopic relationships eg Peter telling Simon 'Carla's your mum now' after 5 mins, Amy with her parents varying every few days, Max with his numerous families etc... the Sally story (eg admission re how she can't love BabyJack actually seems the first time anyone has given any consideration at all to the effect on the kids Sad

EdithWeston · 28/04/2012 18:27

I hope that's just speculation, not spoiler.

I felt I had to leave one Corrie thread (that grew into a big one) because of spoilers. Some of us don't like them, and don't read/watch anything that tends to give thing away.

If you are going to post spoilers, would you please play fair to those who want to avoid them, and ask MNHQ to change the title to include warning before spoiling it? Thanks.

Nancy66 · 28/04/2012 18:37

Sorry.....

I think it must be (untrue) speculation because the time for it happening has passed now.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 28/04/2012 18:39

I think it's speculation, it's been mentioned on here ever since the Carla affair started but never come to anything and too late now. Spoiler storylines tend to emerge on screen within a month or so.

I don't go looking for spoilers but don't mind stumbling on them...

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 28/04/2012 18:41

I think that was speculation on a thread - would have made a good storyline tho' Grin

EdithWeston · 28/04/2012 18:51

I didn't mean to be unfriendly/shrill! It's just that if someone spills the beans on a future plot line, you can't go back and un-read it (IYSWIM)

I think it is getting late for their to be a synchronised pregnancy storyline, and I'm really glad they're not. Far too far fetched, and two babies on the way on The Street anyhow. I wonder how baby Joseph is getting along. We see even less of him than we do of little Liam.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 28/04/2012 23:16

What is going to happen with David and Kylie following pooraudreyhorseface's 'eart attack?

TheSameButDifferent · 28/04/2012 23:22

Kylie has gone, with Max. She said that David had a choice and he chose family over her.

ThatsEnoughHasHadEnough · 29/04/2012 07:51

But who was looking after Max while she was out drinking?

KenDoddsDadsDog · 29/04/2012 08:34

I missed it on Friday. Another stupid story then.

EdithWeston · 29/04/2012 08:35

Kylie went, and then she had to come back two episodes later to get Max (made me chuckle at ineptness!)

Silly of her to demand David makes a totally trumped up "choice" over this. I can see why she's taking a different view to Audrey's blood relations, but walking out makes no sense (where has she gone, anyhow?). And so many lost opportunities for a good depiction of the strains she is under.

(Perhaps they knew they wouldn't be able to write it well enough, so shunned it).

MurielTheActor · 30/04/2012 09:16

Yes all that BUT then we have the divine comedy moment of Bohemian Rhapsody.
And that's why I will always watch Corrie Grin
