Is it just me, or is it really just not funny? I feel almost embarrassed watching it - it is so cringy!

I love Miranda

I feel her pain.

BehindLockNumberNine · 02/02/2011 12:50

Absolutely love her - but I am also 6ft1, big, clumsy... Sadly I am not funny..

Love Miranda (could do with less Stevie)!

Loathe Outnumbered though, those kids are too precocious and make me cringe.

jennymac · 02/02/2011 12:57

I don't watch it regularly but because of all the hype I thought I should give it a go. I just didn't get it - it reminds me of the terrible sitcoms that used to be on in the seventies and eighties. Seem to be lots of silly scrapes and jolly goings-on without any funny or witty dialogue.

Oh, and Gary is very attractive too, which helps...

onlyjuststillme · 02/02/2011 13:03

I love Miranda too but I never did get shows like "The Fast Show" or "Peep Show"

onlyjuststillme · 02/02/2011 13:05

I think we should arrange a "Wheres Miranda/Wally" flashmob.

MappandLucia · 02/02/2011 13:07

I know it's not clever-funny and it shouldn't be entertaining but I love it. We watch it with the dcs who find it hilarious.

It has spawned catch phrases in our family, 'bear with', 'such fun' & 'what I call...'

Do NOT like Stevie. I think Miranda is an immensely likeable person and it's her charm that carries the show.

JemimaMop · 02/02/2011 13:08

I love Miranda. She is a slightly taller, slightly posher version of me. I don't watch a huge amount of TV but this is one thing that I won't miss.

Having said that I also love Outnumbered. DS1 watches it with me and frequently comments on how like DS2 and DD Ben and Karen are. I haven't yet told him that he is actually rather like Jake...

JemimaMop · 02/02/2011 13:09

We do the catchphrases too Mapp Blush

taffetasplat · 02/02/2011 13:13

pmsl @ Focaccia Pilkington

must have missed that one

cryhavoc · 02/02/2011 13:20

I tried watching it after reading so many tweets about how great it was and I Just. Didn't. Get. It.

At all.

I tried again the next week, thinking maybe I tried a duff episode, and it was equally cack. Feel like I am defective in some way because the entire rest of the planet seems to love it. Thanks for starting this thread and reassuring me, jennymac.

TanteRose · 02/02/2011 13:21

here you are, taffeta 11 mins. in....Grin

SilverBrumby · 02/02/2011 13:21

I love her and am with all who loved the "where's Miranda"/psychiatrist scenes. She's brilliant, warm and funny. Haven't laughed so much since "The Thick of It".

Dreya · 02/02/2011 13:21

I love Miranda. I also cried with laughter at the psychiatrist episode. Such fun!

MattsBatt · 02/02/2011 13:23

Love Miranda
Love Stevie (and loved her in series one of Horrible Histories)
Nothing wrong with being middle class Wink

jonicomelately · 02/02/2011 13:24

Miranda does a courtesy when she meets a man she fancies Grin

And sometimes she breaks wind at the same time Grin

What the hell in not to like.

jonicomelately · 02/02/2011 13:25

'is' not 'in'

taffetasplat · 02/02/2011 13:29

thank you TanteRose! I wish I had the nerve to do/say some of the things she does.

Aitch · 02/02/2011 13:29

actually... yyeeeeeees re the 'constant comparisons to shakespeare' (every time i think that she probably wishes she'd tried a bit harder on that one) and gurning little troll stevie. but i still like HER, beyond that, and so i like the show, because it is ineffably and indisputably HER.

David51 · 02/02/2011 13:35

The show is only funny because of her. Someone should give her a decent script.

upahill · 02/02/2011 13:35

I've tried and I'm not getting it!

saying that I don't 'my family' or 'Outnumbered'

Honestly I do have a sense of humour 'The Middle' is great. I have one son who is like Axel and another who is just like Brick!!

I love 'Not going out' as well. I love Lee Mack.

Miranda's humour doesn't do it for me although she comes across as really lovely in interviews.

taffetasplat · 02/02/2011 13:36

she writes it herself

balloonballs · 02/02/2011 13:37

Miranda and My Family. Crimes against humanity. Crimes I tell ya!

QuickLookBusy · 02/02/2011 13:37

I love Miranda, It has me and 2 DDs having a good old belly laugh [DH just sits there looking a bit puzzled].

It started on Radio 4, and was on at some silly hour about 11.30 I think, I loved it so much I used to stay awake to listen to it.

Patricia Hodge played the mother on the radio too, I think she is fantastic.

messylittlemonkey · 02/02/2011 13:37

We (DP and I) love Miranda - her show is a breath of fresh air.

It's her timing, cheesiness and self deprecation that do it!
