Is it just me, or is it really just not funny? I feel almost embarrassed watching it - it is so cringy!

Rupaul you have hit the nail on the head there!

melikalikimaka · 04/02/2011 09:47

Watched 'Outnumbered' for the first time last night because someone mentioned it here. It was really funny, even my 16 year old DS was laughing at it. That little blonde girl is hilarious and so good at acting. She was in 'The Kings Speech' as Princess Margaret. But I thoroughly recommend anyone to start watching this, I know I will. Grin

I'm nothing like Miranda. And I love her.

EmmaBemma · 04/02/2011 10:07

People don't debate the merit of Peep Show because it's thought to be fashionable and a bit edgy (though recent series is rather patchily funny in my view - highlight so far is Kenneth the dildo, but other episodes haven't raised much of a chuckle). Miranda is defiantly unfashionable, old-fashioned slapstick, mugging-to-audience comedy, and I think it's brilliant. Every time I think about her sprinting after the taxi driving away with her entire outfit trailing from the door, I do an actual Laugh Out Loud.

taffetasplat · 04/02/2011 10:53

Well there are similarities with Peep Show. They are both navel gazing, and both narrate to camera.

I find Peep Show at best mediocre, and Grandma's House just awful, such a disappointment as I adored Simon Amstell on Buzzcocks. My all time favourite was Free Agents with Stephen Mangan, Sharon Horgan and Anthony Head. So sad there was only one series. Stylish, outrageous and so funny.

Miranda's not stylish, but she does make me snort.

2 of my friends (WC, btw) love Miranda and Ugly Betty but i find them boring.
I like: Benidorm, Father Ted, Peep Show, Malcolm in the Middle, Catharine Tate and Little Britain (esp LB in America). Mainly cos i recognise certain characters from RL. Eg. friends, neighbours + family, colleagues, old schoolmates and patients remind me of various characters - wouldn't tell them that tho!!
Have cared for several 'Father Jacks' :) !!
I dont like stand up comedians except Jo Brand; my mates like Michael McIntyre but i can't get it.

newgirl · 04/02/2011 16:56

I laugh out loud at Miranda, Outnumbered and Not going Out. Have not done that for years with other sitcoms.

misspollysdolly · 04/02/2011 17:19

Not Going Out last night really made me laugh - made worse by the act that the subject really shouldn't be funny...GrinBlushGrin

SparkleRainbow · 04/02/2011 19:07

Love Miranda, I am like Newgirl, she makes he laugh out loud too, when most comedy at best makes smile smile!

ReadyFreddie · 04/02/2011 20:45

She's so not funny! Doesn't even raise a smile - just soooo predictable.

I absolutely can't stand Michael McIntyre either - beyond awful.

Sean Lock is a comedy genius.

TimeForABrew · 04/02/2011 23:26

Miranda rocks

Kora · 04/02/2011 23:44

I like it despite myself. I'll be watching frowning at start, then collapsing laughing next. Some moments just come up and get you! Here you are, sir. In contrast, "My Family" has had comedy by-pass.

AppleyEverAfter · 05/02/2011 15:38

I love it! Can't wait for the next series. It is pretty old school slapstick comedy but there's not much of this around atm. Not Going Out was quite funny last time I watched it, was impressed by the fella (is it Lee Mack?) cos I normally find him irritating on quiz shows etc.

rupaul · 05/02/2011 21:47

slapstick crapstick. If you want slapstick watch Frasier - Miranda is poop.

rupaul · 05/02/2011 21:48

slapstick crapstick. If you want slapstick watch re-runs of Frasier - Miranda is poop.

Bue · 05/02/2011 22:03

I can see why it might not be to everyone's taste, but I adore Miranda. So does DH, and he generally prefers stuff I can't stomach at all, like Frankie Boyle. We also love Outnumbered. I think there's something genuinely refreshing about good, clean old fashioned humour.

rupaul · 05/02/2011 22:39

I do too, as long as it's funny.

jonicomelately · 06/02/2011 13:38

I don't think it's slapstick. Aren't both Miranda and Frasier farce?

rupaul · 06/02/2011 17:43

Frasier has some slapstick elements.

jonicomelately · 06/02/2011 20:45

OK rupaul Smile

marybeard · 01/11/2011 19:55

did I ever say thankyou for that... well THANK YOU, m

LeBOF · 01/11/2011 20:04

I love Miranda. I also love Mary Beard. Although the two are not at all similar.
