Olivia Colman’s newly grown long grey hair

Madamefroufrou · 30/09/2026 10:27

This time last year she sported her usual brunette wavy pixie cut showing
all of her face.
This week she has long crinkly shades of grey hair we are led to believe
she has grown in twelve months, embracing the grey/natural ageing.
Does anyone have an opinion on this phenomenon or believe this heavy
hanging hank of hair looks attractive, or is it perhaps a Statement.

@Plumtopped really? It doesn’t look very long to me although I have straight hair and so when you take into account her curls, I suppose yes maybe more than 12 months’ growth

Isn't she just?. I saw part of her performance in the Crown, it was cringeworthy. I don't know why she's celebrated..

Yes I dont understand the love for her either. She has brought her boring political beliefs in when she was accepting some acting accolade.
Why do these so called famous people think they know better than us. And I dont give a kippers dick about her grey hair. I had my ginger hair cut short yesterday its not in the local paper though and im quite famous in my household!.

Readingallthetime · 30/09/2026 11:05

I reckon my hair could grow that long in a year. 🤔. It's shoulder length and I get at least a couple of inches off every ten weeks or so.

Yeah, I think some of these actors believe they have a unique insight into matters social and political.
Mate, learn your lines and don't bump into the furniture.

Aydel · 30/09/2026 11:07

It looks a mess.

Lomonald · 30/09/2026 11:09

I was thinking about "heavy hank of hair" i assume women with thick curly hair it is heavy why shouldn't her hair extensions or not reflect that?

Christ what an awful bitchy thread 🤬

She looks great and I assume she likes it which is all that matters!

For “women” to start commenting on her personality as well as adding disparaging remarks about her hair is so disappointing.

Very disappointing but wholly unsurprising. It’s really sad to see swathes of women tearing down another woman. And depressing to think they are raising another generation of women who will believe they need to look a certain way 😏

ClarksBarks · 30/09/2026 11:11

I like how it looks, and if it is a "statement" then I think it's a good one. She's in a really privileged position as an actor who has no problem getting work. It's well known that many middle aged/older female actors really struggle as no one casts them. The fact that she's embracing and normalising grey hair/aging is great.

(I do think they're probably extensions but don't think it matters.)

notacooldad · 30/09/2026 11:13

I like it and I prefer it her usually very short style.
She looks great.

Calliopespa · 30/09/2026 11:15

I thought it was extensions.

I prefer her with her brown, shorter hair, mostly because it sets off her eyes so well, but she still has a lovely face and is one of my favourite actresses. I don't get the "annoying" thing. I am drawn to things if I know she is in it.

It’s so depressing, she looks like a normal middle aged woman and there’s fuck all wrong with that. Also depressing to see comments about her daring to have an opinion too.

”hanging hank of hair”. Aren’t you just a lovely ray of sunshine.

NovaF · 30/09/2026 11:17

I think her new hair makes her look more youthful, frames her beautiful face and the colour brings out the warmth in her skin

Cherrycoko · 30/09/2026 11:17

I thought she looked beautiful. I never thought she was good looking before, but the long hair really suits her.

PorticoFolio · 30/09/2026 11:18

Gawd. It looks horrible. Has she never heard of conditioner.

Agree with others - her personality and political opinions are beyond tedious.

escapegoats · 30/09/2026 11:18

She looks really lovely I think

Plumtopped · 30/09/2026 11:19

She's astonishingly successful for someone so many people find annoying 🤣

LeebLeefuhLurve · 30/09/2026 11:20

Go easy on those Chip, Biff and Kipper books, OP.

Indeed. God forbid a woman be successful, have opinions, and allow her hair to be grey.
I thought we had moved past this patriarchal shite. The internalised misogyny is strong here.

Turophiles · 30/09/2026 10:30

‘We are led to believe’? Do you think Olivia Coleman is defrauding the general public about her hair? 🙄

Well she clearly didn't grow it out in a year. It took me two years and looked pretty dreadful at first. I got a quote from a hairdresser who transitions you over to grey for £3000 it's still not natural but blends your growing grey in and you have to grow out the transition if that makes sense. I'd admire OC more if she said yep cost me a fortune and it's not natural yet but I'm on my way.

Nevernotgoingto · 30/09/2026 11:23

I liked it. It’s completely different hair to when she had it short but I assumed it was her natural hair just grown.

Huckleberries · 30/09/2026 11:24

@Madamefroufrou the way you said “ heavy hanging hank of hair” it does sound incredibly opinionated like you think women must look a certain way to please you
Maybe you’re an Incel, who knows?

She doesn’t have to say anything, really

only the odd crazy person, Online, will think it’s making a statement

Oh, I thought it was a Rudyard Kipling reference to a poem called 'The Vampire'.
Not one that's been too beloved since the late 1950s though.

As far as I’m aware, nowhere has Olivia Colman claimed to have grown her hair to this length at all, far less in a particular period of time. She just showed up at a red carpet for a film, with hair, and has made no ‘claims’ about it whatsoever.
