Olivia Colman’s newly grown long grey hair

Madamefroufrou · 30/09/2026 10:27

This time last year she sported her usual brunette wavy pixie cut showing
all of her face.
This week she has long crinkly shades of grey hair we are led to believe
she has grown in twelve months, embracing the grey/natural ageing.
Does anyone have an opinion on this phenomenon or believe this heavy
hanging hank of hair looks attractive, or is it perhaps a Statement.

I didn't say she'd had her teeth done I said her gummy smile has mysteriously disappeared perhaps she's hoping the focus will be in the frizzy extensions and that will be missed. As demonstrated on this very thread.

Confused

how do you get rid of a gummy smile without getting your teeth done, and why on earth would she wish to hide she’d done it.

Huh? Who said you weren’t allowed and opionion? You said it was poor quality hair, I pointed out thay will not be correct.

Yes sorry I was responding to another pps comments there.

I think the implication is that she’s had lip fillers or some other facial tweak, and is counting on the general public being distracted by her new hair and not noticing.

I mean, I think it’s total drivel, but I think that’s what that poster meant.

Ah ok, thank you. How odd though,

It is trendy to say grey hair looks good particularly on these boards. Just as it's trendy to say pixie cuts look great. It's rare either of these things look good and irl vast majority of women don't want grey or very short hair because it isn't particularly flattering.

And yet the real world is actually full of women with grey and/or very short hair!

It's far more trendy to wax lyrical about long hair, which can look very beautiful - but can also look downright awful, and far from flattering.

(Not that it matters, people can have their hair however they want to, their opinion being all that counts).

Househunt2026 · 30/09/2026 22:29

Ooo I just goggled and actually love this look on her!

NotABarOfIt · 30/09/2026 22:45

I quite like it! It has a bit of character.

I (late forties woman) was in a meeting today with about 20 other middle aged women (40-60-ish) and most people had the same hair! Bob-ish length, wavy, mousy brown / mousy blonde. Very safe.

no requirement, you all having so much fun without me and I won’t be bullied, so fill your boots 🥾 👢

So you start a mean thread to invite people to bitch about someone's looks, and then just sit back enjoying reading the posts that do? Aren't you a delight?

I really dislike grey hair in general. I know it's trendy to say it looks great but it's so incredibly aging. I couldn't believe she's only 52...she looks much older

She always seems to play fusty middle aged characters rather than youthful, glamorous types. I think that ages her more.
Her hairs absolutely fine either way. She still comes across as completely insufferable so I'd say it's the least of her worries.

Or- to put it another way- interesting, strong women who have a lot more to do than looking glamorous.
Two queens.
MI5 head.
Policewoman.
Professor.
Chef.

I presume these were photos from the Zurich Film Festival. They are extensions which she had for her role in the film Wicker.

Where she plays a reclusive fisherwoman with no access to conditioner!

Her long grey hair looks lovely. But I can't stand her - full of herself and so annoying.

She speaks very highly of you.

The fact that you mentioned being bullied is telling. For someone who has been irked so severely by the sight of a woman's hair, someone that you don't know, will never meet with has absolutely zero effect on your life, I find really odd.

I can't imagine the day when I'm prompted to start a post about something like this, or even have the thought in my head, so I wouldn't be able to guess your state of mind, or your self esteem, or how full and joyful your life is. I've got a feeling it's not that shiny. I wish you better days OP, and a different perspective.

You know it is fine to disagree without 'drivel' sneers?

Yes you're right, she seems to have had tweaks to hide her massive exposed gums when she smiled but everyone is talking about her frizzy extensions instead.

Well, she's not going to play 'youthful, glamorous types' because she's a woman in her 50s and she's never presented herself as a film star glamorous type.

I don't know much about her so can't say whether she comes across as completely insufferable or not.

She is however, an extremely successful, strong woman so probably has no reason to feel that people's opinion of her hair is 'the least of her worries'.

Er that's exactly why it's the least of her worries surely?

I was replying to the poster that thought she looked older than 52. I couldn't care less how old she is or looks personally
Lots of older women play glamorous types - mostly because that's how Hollywood likes women. Consequently we are used to seeing 50 year old famous women look a certain way. Hardly a debatable point - been done to death.

MojoJojo71 · Yesterday 09:28

As the proud owner of a similar ‘hank’ of frizzy grey hair I think she looks great. I don’t think it ages her, I think she simply looks her age but unfortunately these days I feel women in their 50’s are expected to strive to look like they are still in their 30’s.

I dislike dyed hair because it rarely looks natural. I have been grey for about 7-8 years having grown out the colour and get lots of compliments on my hair. Ageing is natural and I'm comfortable with it.

I have long white hair but look after it to keep it shiny

I don’t know why you’d get extensions to look like frizzy unkempt hair, so I presume it’s for her work

That's what thick, textured hair looks like! It doesn't mean it isn't well looked after. Heated styling to make it straight and shiny might make it look good in the short term but long term causes damage.

I think it looks amazing on her but I can't see how anyone can grow that much in a year. Unless OP is wrong about the timing of the pixie cut.

Besidemyselfwithworry · Yesterday 12:38

Maybe she is getting ready for Halloween it's like witches hair!

Lottapianos · Yesterday 12:57

She can do what she likes of course but I much prefer her with short hair. She's so stunning that she can carry off a super short cut and look fabulous. I'm very pro grey hair - I have a lot of grey myself and I stopped colouring it 2 years ago aged 44. So I think she should keep the grey and lose the extensions

Do people really think Olivia Coleman looks stunning? I don't like her as an actress but I can see that lots of people do and I think she looks fine - wouldn't comment one way or the other on her looks if asked I'd say she is a perfectly nice looking woman but I would never have thought of her as stunning.

Agree. I'm not being bitchy, she's an actress not a model. I won't say anything unpleasant about how she looks...I just find her incredibly ordinary looking.

I know she's often scrubbed right down on screen but she scrubs up incredibly well! 😁 She's got lovely dark eyes, beautiful skin and perfect teeth, and out of character her face looks joyful and lit from within. I could look at her all day 😍
