Do you "get ready" every day

If you're staying in all day, do you still get up and do hair and makeup (I don't mean done up to the nines) or do you not bother? Are you always ready to face the world or do you only "get ready" if you're leaving the house?

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don’t. Depends on my mood.

Today my hair and makeup are done and I have no plans.

BashfulClam · 09/05/2026 15:21

I barely get done up to leave the house 🤷🏻‍♀️

sheepyfruity · 09/05/2026 15:23

The older I get the less I care. I used to think I only got ready ‘for me.’ Now I realise most of that was societal pressure for women to wear makeup, look a certain way. Now I really don’t care and it is so liberating. It is like I am seeing the world through a new lens. I wish society did not normalise makeup, dyed hair etc. I have a shower every single morning and wash my hair every single day still and wear more comfortable clothes than ever before. So thrilled when high heels went out of fashion too!

MegMortimer · 09/05/2026 15:26

I religiously apply sunscreen to my face every day but that's about it.

Tortephant · 09/05/2026 15:26

I do my hair and makeup, yes, but paired back from going out for work.

PivotPivotmakingmargaritas · 09/05/2026 15:27

Hair no - face yes basic moisturiser and then a CC cream with anti redness and mascara … otherwise I will look at the mirror and be shocked by the tired sick old lady looking at me.

JessicaGoodman · 09/05/2026 15:27

Yes. In case someone comes to the door or I need to nip out. I might change to go out but at least my hair and make up are done.

NoYouCantComeToTheWedding · 09/05/2026 15:28

I would only "get ready" if I was going to a party or something. Otherwise I just moisturise and brush my hair.

I think it's really sad if you feel you need make up on to "face the world".

Magsbd · 09/05/2026 15:30

Face and hair are done EVERY day as I look awful otherwise. I’m very pale faced and look ill without blusher, lipstick and eyeshadow. And my hair is flat unless I put in heated rollers every morning too. It doesn’t take too long and it’s part of my morning routine all my life and I’m 78 now.

quirkychick · 09/05/2026 15:32

If by "get ready" you mean get showered and dressed, then yes - I wear a little make up and wet through my curly hair. I very rarely stay in the house all day, even if wfh. I feel better doing it and am perhaps of a generation where go get up and get ready, unless you're ill.

TheChosenTwo · 09/05/2026 15:34

Freshly showered yes but I don’t do my hair or makeup even when I do leave the house day to day so I’m definitely not bothering if I don’t have plans to go anywhere 😂
although I do leave the house every day because I feel a bit caged and claustrophobic if I don’t.

ParadiseIsNoBunker · 09/05/2026 15:35

Every day bar Sunday as I’m either WFH and on Teams or in the office. Saturdays, I’d be going out at some point so brows, light foundation and concealer, bronzer, blusher and mascara.

Sunday - just skin care and Factor 50 every single day.

newmenewwhatever · 09/05/2026 15:36

I do minimum hair & makeup daily

tinyspiny · 09/05/2026 15:40

I never wear make up and haven’t since I was about 25 , so getting ready for me after a shower is brushing my hair . I’m very low maintenance .

RampantIvy · 09/05/2026 15:42

I'm fortunate enough to be blessed with good skin, dark eyelashes and dark eyebrows, so I don't need make up to answer the door or go for a country walk.

If I am nipping out to Tesco I would put on some tinted lip balm, and I wear tinted moisturiser, blusher and lipstick to work or if I am going out.

I can't wear eye make up these days as I have very dry eyes and any kind of make up feels like it is sucking moisture out of them. Also they are wrinkled and hooded and eye make up just accentuates that.

At this time of year I use facial gradual tan to add a bit of colour.

Lourdes12 · 09/05/2026 15:42

In terms of getting ready this is all I do everyday: undo the braid I slept in and put on spf done

HolidayPlanningAgain · 09/05/2026 15:44

i don’t tend to do hair and makeup beyond skincare if I’m not going anywhere (walking the dog doesn’t count as all the neighbours have seen me out with him in my pjs when he was a puppy!)
WFH full time and just do a small application of concealer and mascara if I don’t have ‘Big’ calls.
Full face if going anywhere beyond the estate 😂

PracticallyPeapod · 09/05/2026 15:44

People get ready even when they know they’re not going anywhere? That is something I would never do. It’s a chore. Why would I make a job for myself?

hby9628 · 09/05/2026 15:45

I always do my skincare routine but don’t always put make up on. Generally only if I’m going to work or know I’m seeing people.
shower everyday, hair wash generally every other day depending if ive done any exercise

Isobel201 · 09/05/2026 15:45

I sometimes put comfy trackies on but I'll stay in my nighty and dressing gown if I'm in all day. I don't wear makeup.

Motheranddaughter · 09/05/2026 15:46

Yes I do
TBF there are very few days when I would not be going out at some point

bubblenance · 09/05/2026 15:46

If I’m staying in all day I’ll do skincare and brush hair but I don’t see the point in make up?!

Didntask · 09/05/2026 15:49

Work days, always do make up (well, tinted moisturiser, mascara, bit of blush and tinted lip oil) - if I'm heading to the office, hair too. If I'm wfh, I'll just tie my hair up/look half decent if I have a Teams call etc.

None work days - depends on how I feel/if I can be bothered tbh. I'll happily leave the house with or without make up.

gingercat02 · 09/05/2026 15:50

Not necessarily. I like a make up free day now and again if I can.
I have been out briefly today, but I had my hair cut yesterday so it's still salon blow dried (despite the rain) and I have fake tan drops on my face, so i just put mascara and lip stain on.
I often just let my hair dry naturally and wear no make up if I'm not going out out.
I only wear a full face if I'm going out. Work only mascara, lippy and tinted moisturiser

DontReplyAll · 09/05/2026 15:50

I’m always clean, properly dressed and my hair done. Make up depends on how I feel and what I’m up to.
