Looking for fashion for my thick waist, big boobs and weight gain

I'm about a size 16 now. My jeans are baggy on the legs but right around the belly. I just have nothing that fits anymore. Any ideas? I'm a 34L boobs now. Probably size 18.

I can't get past your first comment so unfortunately you've wasted your time.

I don't understand why people are treating me like a raging bull with a red flag.

I CANT FIND A BRA THAT FITS

FFS

That's fine. You might have wasted some potentially good and pretty kindly offered advice, but that's your right.

Bye.

If you wear a 34L, you’d need a 36K not 36L. Have a look on Ample Bosom they have some lovely stuff.

I agree that the right bra size is crucial to make clothes look right.

Equally, I’d stay away from anything with a tight waist for the moment. Stick to looser shirts, tops, cardigans and dresses for a more flattering look.

Not sure what youa re responding to but you have misunderstood

Perhaps people can take their agression with my bra choice elsewhere

Ok, so I'm going to dip my toe in the water and say that, unfortunately I agree that your biggest problem is that your bra fit isn't great, and I say this as someone who struggled for years in what I was sure was a 32DD and turned out to be a 30G/H (until I had a reduction).

I also think you have long legs and a short torso, and I suspect that before the pregnancy c-section weight gain you would have considered yourself an hourglass, knew how to dress for that, and are now struggling with the fact that between the boobs and the new stomach, you're having a hard time defining your waist.

I think you should try a pair of good jeans (one of the ones rec'd above) and a knit like the cardigan posted by a pp that comes down to your hipbone, untucked. And for what it's worth, I think bootleg or slim flares would be great for your shape.

I like the first dress, I agree the second looks to small at the moment. How would the green skirt look with a bulkier sweater or a tailored shirt?

As another unwanted aside, do you think you have diastasis recti? I did, post-pregnancy, and pilates and some physio got it sorted and I lost the stomach overhang. And how old is your baby? Are you currently breastfeeding?

Edited

The green skirt is too small. I liked it when I was smaller but now my fat belly due to c section and weight gain has made it too small. It doesn't fit right because it's too small. I can't wear it. I would love to but it doesn't fit.

I am sorry, really did not mean to cause any
offence with the bra advise! It’s just really helped me before is all. I think for summer, perhaps a couple of nice maxi dresses with some sandals would be a safe and stylish option. I think Very and New Look have some nice ones in at the moment. Or go for wide linen trousers with a v neck vest, shirt or blouse undone over the top of its chilly. Have you ever had your colour analysis done? That might be a nice place to start if not.

Ok can you link me to some dresses please m

Frankly I’d be amazed if anyone bothers to offer you any advice going forward. You’ve been really, horribly rude to many posters, all of whom have given up their time to try and help you.

Yes such a shame people became so focused on telling me my bra doesn't fit, I know. Telling me bravissimo exits, I know. Telling me I'm not trying hard enough, no I've spent enough hours bra shopping. Telling me about bra choices that don't even exist in my size, they won't fit.

Etc.

I’m a 8 but similar figure (weight on stomach and skinny legs). I can presume you have long legs and a shorter torso?

I find shift dresses or tunics work great with tights or leggings. Circle and maxi skirts work good too. High waisted jeans also work good.

blackcatclub25 · 02/03/2026 14:07

I’m being very gentle as I know the issues
the option that will fit - as they go up to something like an N cup, are Ewa michalak but they’re not cheap
might be worth it if your weight has settled to get 1 or 2
Bella Rosa on Instagram would likely help, she gets them in stock

No I don't have long legs or a short torso. My legs are in proportion to my body and I'm short. I fit nearly into standard leg trousers. Petite are better but too short and standard are a bit too short. Ideally petite needed to be longer.... But then again this was all pre baby so I might need to reasss.

Tops I've never had issues with because I think of my boobs. They however need to be a size 18 of will be too small

I’d go for something that synches in at the waist. I’m a 36D (very large rib cage and sometimes if I wear jumpers (especially with baggy trousers), I look much bigger. They look better if I wear skinny jeans or leggings with them.

I find high waisted flows skirts work well as they hide my gut.

You said here:

Ok here is an 34L cup. On the middle clasp. Does it fit, no. So I get a 36L as its a bigger cup but also bigger overall as the underwire is bigger, so is the design of the bra etc

I simply replied that at 34L in a 36 band you’d need to try a 36K not L which may be why it’s too big.

I noticed in one of your pics that the 34 band cuts into the fat on your back, so a 36 or even a 38 with a smaller cup size might look more streamlined.

The band is too big. I need a bigger cup so I went up.

I don't understand this reply. Maybe punctuation or auto correct problems, not sure.

You are being very short with people, maybe not exactly rude, but not everyone has time to read the whole thread. They just see you asking for advice and they are offering it. Maybe if you're not happy with their replies, just don't comment on them. You'd come across as slightly more grateful then.

I'm not bothering to offer advice that isn't appreciated, although I initially came on to do just that, but your replies/attitude have put me off.

People always suggest wide leg or mom jeans on here. With a big waist, slim legs become wide legs, and wide legs become ridiculously baggy. My best fitting jeans for ages were a pair of Next slim legs in a size 18, just beautifully wide on me. Barrel legs are better than wide legs with a thick waist. But elasticated/ drawstrings if they can be found. I’m a size 12 in those. Play with sizes, you may make some useful discoveries. I find it helpful to wear the same colour top to bottom. Doesn't have to be dark! Tshirts need to be thick and good quality.
Best dresses for me are thick jersey sleeveless straight dresses. I have one from Arket that looks great, and yes my belly is visible in it, but in columnar dressing, it becomes a pleasing curve! Stick a thin cotton shirt over the top if you want. I also like barrel leg ankle grazer joggers, wear them with a tighter top. Dressing for your shape isnt about disguising yourself or hiding away, but about working with proportions clothes don’t always accommodate, and being comfortable. I always looked great naked too, it’s not you, it’s the clothes!

You’re being rude to people that are trying to help. Keep the clothes you’ve got and lose weight. But you’ll always have a mum Tum and big boobs. You can’t hide both so you need to work out what bothers you more. I think you’re angry your clothes don’t fit and taking it out on others. Find a decent bra too you only have to google your bra size and plenty come up so if your moaning about them not fitting then it isn’t your size and you need to go bigger.

I’m similar - 5ft4, size 18 (16 in some things) and I’ve a 36GG boob. I’m also perimenopausal and hot/cold/itchy and want to be comfy, but also need to look decent on office days.

I shop here for 90% of my clothes now. People moan about baggy/non-fitted things being sacklike but I disagree - if I’m in a zipped up waisted dress or trousers I am just SO lumpy and uncomfortable - plus everything goes with everything so mixing and matching ‘capsule’ items is easier. https://www.laundryb.com/shop-the-live/

think less about the waist and more about the neckline... distractions and sliming from face down.

There are not plenty at all in an L cup and the OP is bigger than that
places will list L cups but it is American sizing and so smaller as they skip the double sizes a lot of the time

you’ve got the Elomi Morgan (I can’t wear that one as it looks shocking on me!), Royce but they don’t do wired, a couple of bravissimo ones and a couple of nursing bras. That’s it

They make me look boxy, fatter and shorter than I am. Not flattering and I'm asking for suggestions so I can shop for my post baby body.

I'm not wearing them, they look awful in real life, I've just asked my partner.

I agree op. Stay away from the prints, they just look cheap as does anything viscose, it clings to the wrong bits.

You need some good basics, my lifestyle means jeans. I have mostly wide leg in several shades and barrel legs. Try them, because they will balance your shape better. You need to try a lot of pairs and styles to get a good fit. I'd start with M & S as they have a lot of different cut jeans.

Think about classic white and black t shirts and maybe a navy blue, grey or whatever neutral suits you. That gives you some basics for a start.
