Naomi Watts and Emma Thompson have loads but still look great so what do they use to make their lined and wrinkled skin look so good?

Asking for a friend 😊

I am quite wrinkly as I have fair skin and have lived half my life in a sunny climate 😬

i don’t look great, or anything, but what helps is to wear nice lip colour and I do love smokey eye make up, and that draws the attention a bit to eyes/lips

for skin I like to do Korean skincare and no foundations so no cakeyness

i also avoid mirrors once I have done my face so I can kid myself I look nice ☺️☺️☺️

Parsleyforme · 14/12/2025 17:43

Maybe it’s about their complexion more than the lines? Emma Thompson looks as though she’s never had a spot in her life, no dark circles, no large pores. Maybe she just has naturally very good skin. Just seen a photo of her daughter and looks like she has great skin too. Even her mum’s skin is fab for her age!

Her husband Greg Wise also joined.

Well they’ve both got great facia structures to begin with. And money helps.

CharlotteCChapel · 14/12/2025 18:07

I don't have many wrinkles at 62 but I inherited my skin from both grandmothers, my mum died too young to tell.
However I went out for lunch today and decided to glam up a bit and god do I have crêpey eyelids, not particularly hooded but the texture is awful.

Lourdes12 · 14/12/2025 18:52

Looks like they’re using Tretinoin

xmasstress12 · 14/12/2025 19:20

I really don’t have 11s at 78..

But that’s just dependent on face shape & muscles, not everyone gets them.

The talk of wrinkles is a bit misleading. Plenty of 15 yr olds have forehead wrinkles, it doesn’t mean they look old though.

CountFucula · 14/12/2025 19:27

I’d guess:
no alcohol
sunscreen
polynucleotide treatments
vitamin c serum
great teeth

is how they look so glowy even with wrinkles.
Just to counter the no wrinkle brigade, I’m wrinkled and when I wear Jones Road makeup it looks 100000x better :)

Exactly. Some people are not frowners. Doesn’t mean they don’t
look their age.

Young people can have frown lines but still look young.

So, why are are some so desperate to get rid of them?

xmasstress12 · 14/12/2025 20:14

Presumably they don’t like them?

xmasstress12 · 14/12/2025 20:15

Just like some people hate their curly hair or their straight hair, etc

Allseeingallknowing · 14/12/2025 20:17

They are a sign of ageing- hence the Botox!

bryceQ · 14/12/2025 20:20

I dont think wrinkles are the defining anti aging thing…. Emma watson has a really animated face and lots of lines when she talks but she still looks really youthful.

I think emma T etc will have a great diet, hydration, facials…. Its cumulative

lljkk · 14/12/2025 20:21

I've had wrinkles since I was 19yo.
I have family members with few wrinkles... they are redheads. A life time of dodging the sun has helped their skin age well.

Quite quickly people realised erasing every wrinkle or line and freezing one’s face actually doesn’t make you look any younger…

NooNooHead · 14/12/2025 20:38

I'm half Chinese and aged 44 and have been quite a "frowner" even as a teenager... I remember my English teacher telling me to stop frowning at ages 15 as it would give me wrinkles in my 40s.

I actually didn't end up with number 11 on my forehead but now after 3 children and a decade of awful health problems, I am looking tired. I've never really had any true wrinkles as I think my Asian skin has helped, but the bags are now showing under my eyes and moving down my cheeks. It's definitely aged me lots in the past couple of years. 😕😪

I stopped all skin care products.
I only use e45 and protein jelly.
Wash in baby wash and baby soap and cold water.
And to my amazing amazement it works.

This has been a 2 year trial for me and at 39 I dont look it, i look around 29, I have very little wrinkles compered to 2 year back.

Products that say they can turn back time is a waste of money believe me i tried them.

I have very sensitive skin hence why I use baby soap and baby wash.

What is protein jelly?

What jones road do you wear? I like the colour balms for eyes and cheeks but not tried any of the other stuff.
i like the balms they are much kinder than powder shadow etc but they seem to disappear quite quickly on me.
Even when I was young with beautiful skin I could never wear a base or never found anything that didn’t make me look too matte, I avoided it so never learned how to apply foundation etc and as I’ve aged and started trying products like that now they just seem to highlight any lines, particularly under the eyes

Vaseline.

patchlang · 15/12/2025 00:42

I don't really have any lines or wrinkles although I'm still only late 40's. My face is so pasty and I have no bone structure at all. I look like a haunted Victorian doll. Pretty sure I need my iron levels checked.

Rich people / actresses have access to private doctors, dermatologists, make up artists, top level hairdressers, stylists, facialists and so on. They can ensure they are always in tip top health while most of us can't afford to endlessly try out foundations and looks to find what best works for us, we struggle to get a doctors appointment or time of work for one, no dermatologists or stylists. We make do with a tub of Nivea or Aldi face cream and hope for the best.

Littlebuddh · 15/12/2025 00:27

Vaseline.

That's petroleum jelly. It doesn't contain any protein.

Daisymay8 · 15/12/2025 06:21

Emma Thompson looked great in Down Cemetery Road as did Ruth Wilson but in the outdoor shots eg in the speedboat the close ups showed up their lines and slightly saggy bits. So lighting makes a difference.
But her clothes, height, slimness, hairstyle were all really good.

ViciousCurrentBun · 15/12/2025 06:58

I didn’t have any lines till post menopause at 52 but I’m also half Chinese and as they say Asian don’t raisin. I still have very few. There is a Chinese comedian, she is brutal, I saw a sketch where she said Asians are all Hello Kitty and then suddenly Yoda, I await my fate. I would say my skin is just like my Dads who was virtually unlined till he died at 84. He drank zero alcohol, almost all fresh from scratch food, steamed fish, rice and veg, walked a couple of miles a day.

Hi @NooNooHead I am 59 and also half Chinese, I have zero number 11 just a few fine lines at the very edge of my eyes and none of the ones round my mouth.

Holluschickie · 14/12/2025 07:06

I use Tretinoin; best thing I have ever done. No wrinkles at 53. Do have jowls and sagginess.

I’m like you. Skin is decent for 58 but there is some sagging. Not quite jowls. My jaw line is pretty tight. But there is a hollowing out and lack of plumpness that I don’t love. Probably micro needles, laser etc would help but I can’t be bothered
