Naomi Watts and Emma Thompson have loads but still look great so what do they use to make their lined and wrinkled skin look so good?

Asking for a friend 😊

They have great bone structure.
I really don't have wrinkles- Asian skin- but they look way better.

IsobellaandthePotofBasil · 14/12/2025 05:06

ET certainly has great bone structure. But other than that they are using something that makes their skin look great and I'm asking if anyone can make suggestions as to what it is.

It's a combination of things - good hair colour, good hydration (lots of water as well as diet), and really good skin care & well-applied minimal make-up. And then there are non-invasive treatments like lasering, micro current and micro needling all of which keeps the skin plump. Possibly HRT too, not to mention HRT-infused skincare too. It's impossible to know tbh, but at the very least, it's not just a matter of her diet and getting enough sleep, it's also a team of people: hairdresser, facialist, make-up artist, hairdresser, colourist etc. etc.

Edited to add that Watts has her own skincare line. Like ET, I have no doubt daily use of a high SPF has also helped her skin too.

Foundation

A good skincare routine can make all the difference. It doesn't have to be expensive. But I did read once that if you can only afford one high-end product in a skincare routine, it should be the cleanser. If you're on a budget, a Clinique cleanser, a Boots basic-range facial scrub and toner, and a Boots No 7 moisturiser will make all the difference. If you can afford it, their No. 7 Protect and Perfect serum has a very good reputation, yet is not as expensive as the likes of Clarins, Lancome, Estee Lauder etc.

If you're not on a budget, my advice to you would be to go wild at Estee Lauder. IME their products really work. The Lancome Genifique range is great too. I have not found Clarins products to be as effective. I think they're too natural and plant-based to make as much of a difference.

Also, if you're not on a budget, the Dennis Gross LED masks are very good.

I use Tretinoin; best thing I have ever done. No wrinkles at 53. Do have jowls and sagginess.

Rich, Hollywood types have aestheticians. I’m sure they are regularly have all sorts of facials and lasers plus micro amounts of Botox and fillers. It’s just subtle stuff.

I used to be an avid watcher of the Dr Phil show online and he, on one of his shows, showed his doctor putting in small amounts of filler across his whole face!! That shocked me.

SpicyMargarita1 · 14/12/2025 07:37

I have good skin because I look after it. Wrinkles only when I smile and my skin texture is soft with minimal pigmentation. I am in my 60s. This is my routine:

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cleanser
Sugar House Twenty Two Day Cream
Eve Lom TLC (for night cream).

GameOfJones · 14/12/2025 07:46

I agree it's a combination of things rather than one magic product. Good nutrition, water, skincare routine, most probably regular non-invasive treatments. Kate Winslet also looks amazing.

Cricketashes · 14/12/2025 07:48

I genuinely don't have any wrinkles in my 40s. I have very oily skin so assume that's why.

curious79 · 14/12/2025 07:54

They will all have good genetics and amazing routines and habits:
I’m c 50 and have virtually no wrinkles which I put down to the following (in hindsight):

  • genetics! My mum had amazing skin and did not do much at all
  • always avoided direct sun and used foundation which happens to have spf
  • Good diet
  • slightly overweight (skinnier friends look pinched and wrinkled)
  • my routine is v simple but I have always used a Chanel face wash
pforpig · 14/12/2025 07:55

I find cleanser to be the one I can do away with. A tret serum and 50spf is better.

Cyclingmummy1 · 14/12/2025 07:55

I've recently developed two big creases either side of my mouth - melolabial folds? - but aside from that I'm quite wrinkle free and my skin is lovely (53).

I'd agree with HRT and genetics and add facial oil. I like Sunday Riley (the blue one) and have found Haeckels and Pelegrims to be excellent.

I also found that products with hyaluronic acid smoothed my skin texture.

I'm tempted to try this - I currently use retinol, but wonder if I need something a bit stronger!

Which one do you recommend? Do you buy from an particular provider?

Fuckoffeasypeelers · 14/12/2025 08:55

Professional MUA and Professional lighting

I’ve not heard of this before. It sounds like good stuff but looks like prescription only? Which one do you get?

Coffeeishot · 14/12/2025 09:05

If they are on Tv or screen its professional make up artists and a good light, it is fine to have a bit of texture and lines on your face and wear makeup.

Coffeeishot · 14/12/2025 09:10

I have olive skin and at 54 I don't really have a lot of wrinkles i am quite oily (attractive) though so maybe it is that, my face is saggy which there isn't much i can do about that unfortunately.

Nevermind17 · 14/12/2025 09:12

Also in my 50s with no wrinkles and very oily skin. I’ve never really used any skincare products.

However I have started to get very saggy.

Condensationon · 14/12/2025 09:19

Also in my 50s. Don’t have many wrinkles but neither did my mum. Use a cleansing balm (w7) and a simple face wash and blue Nivea.

just as a counter to all the fancy and expensive stuff 🤣🤣🤣🤣

my foundation is L’Oréal, my face powder is airspun by Coty.

am also getting sadly saggy.

Afraid I get it overseas v cheaply for 20 pence! From family.
But you can get it from Dermatica and Skin and Me in the UK.

CrotchetyQuaver · 14/12/2025 09:43

I think it's less about skin care and more about an entire mindset, certainly with ET. She has that inner glow that is part genetics, part great healthy diet/exercise (with a nutritionist) and part being at peace with yourself. I don't think it's as simple as something from a bottle...

SpicyMargarita1 · 14/12/2025 09:47

Incidentally, I do think professionally-applied make up helps. I had my make up done at the Jones Road counter in Liberty. Later on that day, we had a Deliveroo order that contained alcohol. When I gave my date of birth to the delivery driver, he said, "do you not look like this one." 😁

IsobellaandthePotofBasil · 14/12/2025 09:50

Those of you who say you don't have wrinkles ... that's not the point of this thread. I'm talking about women who do have lines and wrinkles - like ET and NW - but their skin looks great.

Neither of them have botox or filler.

Does HRT really help?

I have lines. My neck makes me want to cry. But, I find I look much better when I up water, eat cleaner, and get very good sleep. Alcohol screws it up.

I had my eyebrows dyed, eyelashes curled and tinted, and hair roots done this week, and wore a colour matching my eyes and liked how I looked. The lines became less of a focus.
