What are you wearing for your Christmas parties this year? I’m in need of some inspiration. I’ve got a couple of things coming up – both are more “going out” than formal, so nothing too dressy. I’m 50 and trying to find the right balance!

I think I’m finally sorted - bought a purple sparkly top today from Hobbs (had a JL gift card) with some M&S palazzo jeans and gold chunky Esska sandals

where we are going is very much jeans and a nice top type thing

I have a couple of dressy dinners/parties, and am planning to wear this velvet jumpsuit from Toast to both. It’s a gorgeous shape, and feels a bit special without being overly dressed up. With gold Mary Janes and gold earrings.

I have a few options, dress and velvet jacket, or black satin pleated skirt or bias cut skirt with a chiffony wrap top but am in a bit of a panic about shoes as I can’t wear any form of heels and I’ve got nothing suitable. Have ordered several pairs of Mary Jane style flats tonight but not loving any of them.

I’ve got a red velvet dress with kitten heels with diamanté ankle strap for my work Christmas party (dinner and dance type thing). For cocktails with girlfriends I am planning on wearing a black sequin skirt with tights and heeled boots, not sure what on top. Christmas curry night I will wear jeans and a burgundy velvet top. The sequin skirt will probably get dressed up or dressed down accordingly for anything else.

We're going for mexican and Chilli Margaritas, so wearing Silk Laundry Hot Lips dress (am nearly 50 too).

I'm picturing rather fabulous shoes with dark feathers popping out of a glittery buckle :)

Im still in health recovery after my SCA so sadly cant do many trips out this year. Not going to any work stuff, but will make sure i wear my christmas jumpers just to the office!!

I love a nice dress at Christmas, but I felt way overdressed last year compared to my colleagues so no dress this year. I had a gorgeous black sequin dress and wore with sheet tights and chunky boots, I would wear this outfit again for a night with my friends though. I am thinking something along these lines, a nice shirt/blouse paired with black jeans and boots or low sling back pointy heels.

I wear my sequin skirt with a shortish sweatshirt that has slight puff sleeves and I think it looks good.

I'm super excited about my Christmas outfits this year! I've lost 4 stone + on Mounjaro so it's going to be the best I've felt in party wear for a good few years.

I managed to nab one of H&Ms leopard mini dresses as worn by Claudia on the Strictly Results show on Sunday - it's not arrived yet but I'm hoping it'll be a good Boxing Day or NYD option if I'm feeling a bit bloated. I also have a gorgeous Boden black velvet midi dress that I got on Vinted - it's really flattering and I might wear it to my work Christmas lunch which is a meal and entertainment in a city hotel. Not a great picture but it's this one Boden dress

Though I do have a cute Mint Velvet ivory blouse with feather trim cuffs that could work...

I’m not so lucky as to have any parties but my go to dressy outfit is always black base layer and then dressy jacket. In winter this might be cut velvet, chiffon in summer. A sequinned jacket or something with glitter would work too. The base layer can be anything - leggings or long black skirt and a camisole.

Late 50's and love to dress for a Christmas party. I have this dress from last year, with black opaque tights as its a bit too much worn as the picture 🤣🤣
But have bought some new shoes and can't wait to wear them. Alas I only go to one small party, but I don't care !

Just a Christmas jumper for early Christmas drinks with my choir, a lunch for a charity I’m trustee with and for a Christmas pub quiz with a friend.

But things look up on 19th December when we fly to Australia, to travel around WA and spend Christmas on the beach with my best friend and her family. I’m in search of a suitable Christmas bikini and rash vest.

Wish l had one to go to and dress up for.
I used to have many nights out and parties
..at 67 no one seems to have them for me to go to.
Don't get me wrong.. I've friends and family l will be seeing.. but not for dressed up parties.
Enjoy yourselves..those that are going... oh how l remember how l loved them.

Oh my geez! I have a Christmas party on Saturday and to be perfectly honest I never once give a single thought as to what I was going to wear until I saw the title of your thread and I thought holy moly, I got to think about this!!!

Some amazing outfits on here and I’m so pleased that everyone is saying F’it and going all out! I think after years of casual, bland dressing thanks to lockdown, a bit of glam is finally coming back.
