Aaargh!! WTF have they done?!

it was terrible before but now it’s going to be absolutely impossible to find the right size.

now if I want a size 14 I can only choose medium which will show me all size 12 and 14s. 🙈🙈

But now it is insane to have to be searching all the size 14s when you are looking for size 12 because there is no category for size 12 any longer. Just 12-14. So your search will return 50% items that are the wrong size every single time.

It makes it WORSE. Long term and short term.

Hmm yes I suppose so. I mean, I'm a 12-14 so in theory that doesn't make it any worse for me but I can see how it would for people who are sure of their size.

As a 12-14 always used to have to tick M, L and XL anyway and then just trawl though looking for actual label size (as sizing is so dependent on brand too anyway for me).

What would the sensible solution be? Make individual size categories for all the (numbered) dress sizes, plus S, M and L etc, and then you choose one from either category (or poss both) depending on your label?

PrincessFluffyPants · 10/11/2025 10:44

This is the response I have got from them. It doesn't look they are about to amend anything.

" Hi,

"I'm Vinted's virtual assistant. My knowledge is based on Vinted Help Centre articles, and I can help you find answers to your questions or issues.

"We use a standard size chart to help buyers find items more easily, and sometimes this means that UK sizes are grouped into broader categories for searches. For example, a UK 10 is typically considered a "Medium" in our chart, while UK 12 is a "Large." This helps buyers filter and find items across different brands and sizing systems.

"If your item is showing up in the wrong search category, it may be due to how our system groups sizes for search purposes. You can double-check the size you selected when listing your item and make sure it matches the correct UK size. Unfortunately, it's not possible to revert the sizing categories to a previous version, as these are set to help standardize listings across the platform.

"If you have more details about a specific item or if you think there's a technical issue with how your item is being displayed, let me know and I can help you further. Do you have any other questions or concerns about this?"

TheChosenTwo · 10/11/2025 10:47

How annoying!!
I put my page on holiday mode a few weeks ago, think I’ll leave it that way and maybe this farce will blow over.
Idiots.

PrincessFluffyPants · 10/11/2025 10:47

This was after I complained they had put all my size 10 trousers into their 12-14 category. What a balls up on their end.

I'm only selling a few items that no longer fit, this must be a real headache for re-sellers or similar.

TeddySchnauzer · 10/11/2025 10:48

Disgruntled employee probably messed with the system right before quitting! That’s my guess

TwoTuesday · 10/11/2025 10:51

Oh dear yes.. Size 14 dress has been changed to XL /size 20-22.

SilenceInside · 10/11/2025 10:51

I just cannot believe they have pushed through an update which has resulted in all the womens clothing being shown as the wrong size, and not showing up when you search for a particular size.

I had no issues with the previous system. If an item was a size 14 then I chose the size 14 option when listing it. The fact that Vinted called that L (or was it XL?) was not an issue, because when people chose a size category in a search, they could see that they were choosing size 14.

Newmeagain · 10/11/2025 10:53

I agree that the old system, while not ideal, was workable. The new approach covers too wide a spectrum and will make it impossible for buyers to find anything. I always check the actual size on the label anyway, but when you are looking for things you need to be able to filter things.

Jammington · 10/11/2025 10:54

Thanks for the heads up - I don't have too much on sale but I've edited to make sure the size is in the description.

I'm assuming they've equated UK sizes with US ones, which would be 2 sizes bigger 🤷🏼

Why would they be so restrictive on sizing options?! I do hope it's a glitch.

Could I use the word size anymore in one post??

mummabubs · 10/11/2025 10:54

Who on earth at Vinted thought this was a good idea!? 🤦🏻‍♀️ I'm not even looking for anything as a buyer until this is sorted but as a seller I now fear people accidentally ordering the wrong size on my already-listed items and then me getting lumbered with abuse or negative feedback.

YorkshireGoldDrinker · 10/11/2025 10:55

I just edited a couple of items this morning. If it's an update, it's a janky one. I work in software, I see things go wrong too frequently due to a lack of testing in pre-production.

PrincessFluffyPants · 10/11/2025 10:56

I'm editing my listings and had a pop up asking me for feedback. I have given a 1 "star" WTF face for item categories and if we all do the same hopefully someone may take notice.

They put a size 10 jumper into 14-16, or was it 16-18. Regardless someone was going to be disappointed.

I told them they are false advertising but I don't think they care.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 10/11/2025 11:01

DiamandaTheGreat · 10/11/2025 10:18

I'm cautiously optimistic that this will be better long term (as those equivalences now make more sense - it was insane to have Large as 12 for example), but I can see it's incredibly frustrating if you have lots of listings live already.

But it doesn’t!! A Zara XL is now listed as equivalent to a UK size 20-22. It doesn’t make any sense at all.

wherewillwegoto · 10/11/2025 11:02

Thanks for the heads up! It's ridiculous. I've changed my listings and also complained to vinted.

Namechangerage · 10/11/2025 11:04

Oh thanks OP! I’ve hidden my listings because I’m away but I’m going to have to go and edit:check all the sizes now on 20+ listings - ffs!!

In fairness, neither does the UK sizing system where one can be simultaneously four different sizes in the same brand, and even more when you go across brands 🤦‍♀️ Men’s clothes don’t have this issue though!

HundredMilesAnHour · 10/11/2025 11:07

AllTheChaos · 10/11/2025 10:38

Thinking about it, I really wish the UK would adopt the European measurement system as ours is mad. I have clothes with the same measurements but different brands, dating from the 1960s to now, whose labels claim to be everything from
size 2 to size 16!

But the ‘European’ system is also completely mad. A German 40 is not the same as a French 40 or an Italian 40. Different countries, same problem.

PrincessFluffyPants · 10/11/2025 11:08

I persisted and now been sent this beauty of a standardised AI reply, which again makes no sense given a size 10 item was put into a 14-16 by their system.

"We use a standard size chart to help match international, UK, EU, and US sizes for women's clothing. According to our chart, a UK 10 is listed as a "Medium," and a UK 12 is a "Large." This is meant to help buyers find items more easily across different brands and sizing systems.

"If your UK 10 item is showing up in the 12-14 category, it may be due to how our system groups sizes for search purposes, but our chart specifically matches UK 10 to "Medium" and UK 12 to "Large." If you believe your item is being incorrectly categorized, please double-check the size you selected when listing the item.

"If the issue persists and your items are still not matching the correct UK sizes in searches, let me know if you'd like to be connected to a human support agent for further help. Would you like to proceed with that?"

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 10/11/2025 11:13

Ha ha ha I've encountered their support agents before. They can't speak English properly and don't understand UK sizing, so it's a waste of time, talking to them.

itsnothingoriginal · 10/11/2025 11:19

Initially I thought great as the sizing has always been an issue for me as a 10-12 but now it's even worse!

Way too much of a blunt tool to have the new system - they just need size listed as per clothes label. I don't understand why that's not possible?

Fortunately I don't have many listings at the moment but have updated mine. I imagine that sales will be hit hard until they get this sorted out 😔

YorkshireGoldDrinker · 10/11/2025 11:23

One thing that could help to mitigate this slightly is for every listing to include clear photos of the size label(s). I've seen a fair few listings without the size clearly shown in the images either because the images aren't there or because the images are blurry. That way regardless of how Vinted decides to show them, the images should help. It adds a bit more overhead to your browsing time and experience, but you're unlikely to mistakenly buy something in the wrong size.

wandererofthekingdom · 10/11/2025 11:25

Omg I had loads to post and didn't get round to it last week, now I'm glad I didn't. I just purchased a size 18 skirt that now says its a 28-30!!!!

AllTheChaos · 10/11/2025 11:40

HundredMilesAnHour · 10/11/2025 11:07

Nooo! Damnit. I assumed it was universal and sensible!

GiveMeWordGames · 10/11/2025 11:42

I got this:

Thanks for your response. Vinted is updating its women's clothing sizes in the UK to enhance the buying and selling experience. The sizes will be updated automatically, and members will be notified to check that everything is correct and make any necessary adjustments. Kind regards,

To which I replied this:

Enhance???!!!! Ok, then. I'll enjoy my "enhanced" experience of having to search in 2 different size bands (12-14 and 16-18), and filter out half the results as irrelevant - because I'm between a 14 and 16 and not actually interested in 12 or 18s. Thank you so much.

Which clearly blew up the AI bot because it reverted to this as if I'm in dispute with a seller or something🙄

I am sorry to hear you’re not satisfied with our proposed solution. Please note that we are obliged to follow our process in such a situation and, as mentioned previously, are not able to offer you an alternative. Unfortunately, this has to be our final decision. If you have questions or concerns regarding a different matter, please open a new inquiry and we’ll help you out. Thank you for understanding.

AllTheChaos · 10/11/2025 11:44

Right. That’s it. We just need sizing like in men’s clothes! “What size is this? Why, a 30” waist and “36” hip” “Marvellous, I shall buy it in complete confidence that it will fit.”
Oh but women’s body measurements are so COMPLICATED with their varying waist to hip ratios, not to mention bosoms, so it’s just not possible…
